Talking on a CELL PHONE??? AT A BALL GAME????? ...you know who Sox fans pin THAT stereotype on.... ...better not let any Sox fans SEE you on that phone....

I'm certainly not outraged about AshSimp, but I could certainly do without an MTV series about her warbling. Also, I don't think I've ever even seen the three you listed. Not much worse than seeing her yodel on MTV when I'm channel-surfing, hoping to catch a random glimpse of Jamie from the Real World ( oh, to be 15 years younger, single and attractive.... )

This is absolutely true, but: When a crime is committed, and it's fairly obvious who committed/funded/masterminded it, wouldn't the family be kept around to try and gain information about the suspected family member? Like possible whereabouts, known associates, possible leads/information they may have overheard, things like that? I'm just asking - perhaps the feds interrogated the bin Ladens before shuttling them out of the country. Just seemed kinda wrong that the only people allowed in the air after the attack were the relatives of the main attacker ( financeer, braintrust, figurehead....whatever ). Oh, and Michael Moore is a blowhard with an agenda, but it is good that ANY "hidden" facts see the light of day, so all angles can be considered when forming your own opinion about things....somewhere in the middle is where the truth lies....

Dick Allen. ( Only half-kidding - Allen was a STUD but he wasn't here long enough to count as an all-time great Sox player. Nonetheless, he was my first favorite Sox player, so I nominate him anyway!!! ) GOOD OL' NUMBER 15!!!

Hmmm....number 3 pick.....Gordon....rhymes with Jordan.....

I don't think so. I think she IS that f***ing dumb, but her handlers have managed to swerve her utter mindnumbing stupidity into a gimmick. Part of the gimmick is to spread her dips***tedness around like fertilizer so people think "She CAN'T be that dumb". The program is working, but I believe that she is dumber than a wall. Oh and Jessica Simpson minus ANY talent for ANYTHING at all minus ANY looks at all = Ashlee Simpson. Simply horrid....

Canucks star Todd Bertuzzi charged with assault
The Critic replied to Queen Prawn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Moore dropped the gloves and fought earlier in the game, which SHOULD have cleared the slate ( in the retarded "unwritten rules" of hockey goonerism ) - Bertuzzi wasn't satisfied with that, he had to get his OWN measure of revenge. He deserves whatever comes to him - I still don't feel his suspension was severe enough. s*** like Beruzzi's pussy suckerpunch gives hockey an even worse image than it already had. -
Just got home from the game, and Rauch did a nice job today. Bent a little, but did not break. Great grab by Rowand, and a BOMB by Valentin. Except for the f***in' non-stop rain, a VERY nice day at the park! GO SOX!!!!

I too am very glad Ozzie is managing the White Sox. He brings an enthusiasm that has been missing for too long. I would have liked to see him manage last year's team. That team really SHOULD have won the Central and made life miserable for whoever they faced in the playoffs. I still can't really believe that team fell short sometimes. That said, I get somewhat of a bad feeling that this team is going to slip away a bit. I hope not, because the division is RIGHT THERE for the taking, but if KW doesn't convince some GM to part with a reliable #2 to #4 starter, it's gonna be REAL tough for the Sox to win the Central. The Twins simply are NOT going to go away, and the Sox should be ( and I'm guessing they ARE ) much more concerned with the Twins than the Cubs.

I don't put my money up on anything I don't actually participate in myself. I certainly wouldn't wager with an anonymous Internet being. And I always enjoy how recognizing talent and not wearing the blinders makes someone a "closet fan" of a team. You don't have to like a team to recognize when they're good. For example, I hate the Spankees, but I see the talent on the field. Fact is, the Cubs are a good team, and they will win their division, in my opinion. Astros are falling apart, Cardinals won't have enough pitching, and no one else has enough to hang in that race.

I'm going to the Cardinals/Cubs game
The Critic replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I was actually referring to the UD of the new Cardinals park, due to be built for the 2006 season if memory serves. Those are some SWEET seats you got for tomorrow! ENJOY! -
I'm going to the Cardinals/Cubs game

Last time I was in St. Louis, that whole "downtown area" looked like a ghost town. All they have is that little strip of bars/restaurants - can't remember what they call it, but I was underwhelmed. And Busch is a dump - I can't wait til they build that new park, it looks like it's gonna be really cool. Although, I won't be buying any tickets for the upper-deck seats - people yack about USCF's upper deck, the seats in the new StL park look unbearably high! -
I humbly diagree with you on most points, I4E. There's no reason why Zambrano can't continue to pitch as he has. He has the stuff, and the only thing holding him back on occasion is his psycho demeanor. If he can ever mature and rein that in, he could be a Cy Young candidate. Hawkins seems much more comfortable closing now than he did with the Twins. Alou is a proven hitter. Ramirez has done nothing to indicate that he's a fluke. Patterson I'll give you - he's a flake, and he could crumble at any time if he struggles. He seems VERY weak of mind. However, he HAS finally gotten the hint that he can get a bunch of extra hits by bunting. Their defense has been surprising, but some of that can be attributed to playing on a good team. Some guys play up to their team's capabilities, and likewise down to a bad team's ability. Ramirez has been a complete shock, but he looks really comfortable over there now. Sometimes luck goes your way, sometimes you make your own luck. Either way, you can't expect luck, so you just take it and say thank you. If they're anywhere near the division lead come August 1st - and there's no reason to think they won't be - the division will be theirs. All I hope is that the Sox take care of their own business so we have something to look forward to come October as well.

I heard they're going to have a 30 million dollar salary cap. They won't be an up and coming anything with that payroll.

Call me crazy, but I think it would be good to shine the light of failure on JR. If the Cubs win the World Series, MAYBE the fact that the Sox have also failed to win it in almost 90 years would get more exposure. Shame JR into maybe finally doing something serious to get it done. Of course, it won't ever happen until Reinsdorf convinces the Cigar Squad to loosen the purse strings when it comes to pursuing top-flight free agents. This will probably never happen. The Sox always put on the dog and pony show, but are never serious players for big-ticket guys. Staying away hasn't been the answer, maybe shame could be.

I don't mind. A lot of my friends and family are Cub fans, and it would be okay by me to see them happy. They're not assholes about the whole Cub/Sox thing, so why not?

Boston 'too racist' for Bonds
The Critic replied to Cerbaho-WG's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Barry Bonds' entire career has been a tree falling in the forest for me. Never liked him, never paid much attention to him. Whether he breaks Aaron's record or not makes no difference to me - Aaron will ALWAYS have my respect, and Bonds won't. I remember getting excited as a kid to watch Aaron play in All-Star Games and on the Saturday "Game Of The Week". Any time I've seen Bonds play has been accidental. -
The Cubs get hot against the Angels, Astros and A's. The Sox dump 2 of 3 to the Montreal Expos, giving up buckets of runs in the process. Things are looking a bit dire right now, heading into the series on Friday. Hope the Sox can take care of business against Cleveland, since that situation is MUCH more urgent than the Cub series. If they're not careful, they could be the THIRD-place White Sox by the time the Cubs pull into the USCF parking lot. ( or at least the tied-for-second Sox, anyway... )
-
Balls that get hit are counted as strikes. That's the only explanation that makes sense to me...

Wasn't Darensbourg AWFUL in spring training? I seem to remember him stinking up Arizona pretty bad.
-
I've never understood why some folks refer to a team being "2 games out in the loss column". I've always believed that wins are the ONLY reference point when tracking the race. I suppose the "loss column" thing started when fans looked for something to be positive about - "Yeah, we're 5 and 1/2 games out of first, but only 4 games out in the loss column", or something like that. Either way, the Sox are not playing well right now, and they need to get Magglio back and get that lineup back to normal.
-
Go ahead and laugh. He'll return ahead of schedule, pitch well enough out of the bullpen to convince some GM that he can help them, and the Cubs will package him in a deal to get what they need. It's call "low-risk, high-return", and it's funniest to the team who reaps the benefits.
-
People cry about the Sox having a "two-man bullpen", and talk about how Pollitte, Jackson, etc etc etc should be released, sent to AAA or killed, then people b**** about Ozzie leaving starters in too long. Amazing....
-
I didn't like it either. Maybe I'm biased against it because all the douchebags at my work started acting like minor-league idiot Xerox copies of Vince Vaughn, but that movie did nothing for me.
