  1. Which is crazy, since going into that last CBA they were (depending on the metric you used) getting the smallest % of the revenue pie of the major sports. I don't know if that's been changed with the CBA and will need time to determine, but all-in-all, the lack of a cap has led to a perceived collusion by owners to slow salaries more-so than revenue growth. Cohen has thrown a wrench into that concept, but will other owners actually match or try and compete there? I doubt it for most.
  2. no, my "argument" is that you are paying a player's premium price tag while not using a premium skill/value. unlike A-Rod, Correa isn't a top 3-5 hitter in baseball. Him shifting over is going to hurt his value. It's spending money just to spend instead of team building.
  3. I'm acting like the Mets signed a player who derives a lot of value from being the best at his position defensively and they're moving him off that position. Lindor is a good defensive SS, no doubt about that. Correa had the highest wRC+ of all SS's last year, with his defense. Correa would have been 6th or 7th at 3B offensively last year.
  4. So you're saying the Yankees don't win a title if A-Rod is at short and Jeter at 2nd or 3rd? Trying to figure out what you're debating. A-Rod was the best offensive player in baseball arguably. Correa is no where near that.
  5. WHen you've stolen your fortune, it might be easier to lose some of it. Cohen as big of a crook as anyone who has ever worked on Wall Street.
  6. Not sure I'd say it worked. Correa is nowhere near the offensive player a rod was and the Yankees were worse defensively because of it. A lot of Correa's value is tied to the fact that he's the best defensive SS in baseball. Moving him off that position brings down his ceiling big time.
  7. Funny thing is that Mets rotation is far from great, and scherzer and Verlander taking big steps back at their age wouldn't be surprising at all.
  8. Makes no sense that the best defensive ss in the game is moving to 3rd base. That zaps a decent amount of correa value. This Mets team is going to be a disaster imo.
  9. Lowe with chronic back issues last year that never went away. I'm out 100% on acquiring him. His back injury zapped his power and that thing could be here to stay.
  10. Never been a big benetendi guy, but he's certainly an mlb quality regular.
  11. Mad? No. Would I want to give Benetendi a ton of money and years? Also no. I think Benetendi is whatever; nothing to get excited about. That said, he's at least a MLB outfielder which is a big step up for the team.
  12. Outman stinks. Way too many words used on a guy who stinks. He's 26; he's a filler in a deal, not someone you target.
  13. You guys allowed a down season to really slant your views of a video that had nothing odd about it at all: Odds are they found out earlier. Everyone is clapping, no one is mad. The locker room isn't segregated. Jaysus guys. The team was down at that time too and Tim wasn't going to treat an individual achievement as some all-ending celebration.
  14. Great; I don't know if you know this, but most people have bosses but they're still responsible for doing their job. Constantly excusing away Hahn's actions as Kenny and Jerry meddling is just laughable.
  15. you're not sure if any GM is good enough to win with a 195 million dollar budget on the MLB roster. puhleeze
  16. This is such bullshit. I honestly have no idea why so many continue to carry water for Hahn by making these excuses. Kenny Williams won much more than Rick Hahn as the GM of the team. With his trades, his signings, his moves... Rick Hahn has one of the worst track records in FA in MLB history. Even if you want to argue he can't sign big deals, there have been plenty of ways to supplement and add depth to this roster with the 195 million he was allowed to spend without wasting 15-20 million a year on complete garbage. Big contracts are Jerry's fault... now the small contracts are Kenny's fault. GTFOH with that.
  17. This was an old tweet, but it's so hilarious to me. As someone who has made a career in analytics, has a degree in the world of analytics, and loves baseball statistics and data.... how broken does your brain have to be to claim a RP who had an ERA over 6 actually had a good year because of metrics that don't actually impact the small sample scoreboard for a reliever. No reliever with a 6 ERA has ever had a good year.
  18. In the 90s and etc top teams were spending almost 7 times more than bottom teams.
  19. Wowser. Hilarious to hear Jerry cronies claim this team lost money last year.
  20. I remember Pal and the Greek Freak tappin' their buddies for a piece or twos of news in the past couple years, but I had always assumed it was a joke.
  21. to be fair, everyone who wants to get paid has worn out their welcome for the White Sox.
  22. lol this made me laugh. have i gone back and forth with insider pal before? i honestly don't remember.
  23. addition by subtraction ? the teams record without anderson the past few years is like 15 games under 500, with him they're like 40 games over. addition by subtraction is the funniest s%*# i've read here in a long time.
