  1. "Everything will be fine sir...now step slowly back from the ledge."
  2. I know what you're saying but that would be a hard position to sell to most of us I would imagine. Our WS championships don't grow on trees. Plenty of people are willing to forgive Ozzie his sins in exchange for the 1 championship.
  3. Yeah...something like two wins in the WS.
  4. It's a fine line to play a little banged up or sit and get rusty. If the manager ultimately wins he's really smart and if he loses he's an idiot.
  5. Getting Engel back would be a big help. In all fairness...Tony has managed all these injuries in such a way that the team will be close to 100% come playoffs. I haven't loved some of the lineups but here we are with a 9 1/2 game lead with 1 month to go.
  6. If you told me we would be delighted with Lopez starting games in September I would have thought you were drinking your dinner. Strange this game of baseball is.
  7. Not the worst way to play our hand. There would be a lot to like about a 100% healthy squad entering the playoffs.
  8. He's a #5 and #5's don't start in the playoffs. He will definitely be given the courtesy of being put on the squad IMO and hopefully, we won't see him. I would give Tony and the FO a lot of credit if they put winning over courtesy but many would think it harsh.
  9. I managed 3 innings and called it a night. Ugly game from the beginning...didn't have to read the tarot cards to know how this one would end.
  10. I agree...seems like a nice guy and he does have some pop in that bat.
  11. I think RH will gamble a multi-year deal on Rodon as well. Boras aside...players have a right to tell their agent to sign with their home team or whomever. If we make the QO and continue to negotiate something like 3 years at 15-18 millinon per year...we would have a good chance. I believe strongly that this team has a strong chemistry that players won't want to leave if they can avoid it.
  12. Maybe we can make a trade with the Cubs for Madrigal.
  13. I guess the Padres may prove not to be the genius FO organization some here believe them to be.
  14. Me too...but we've already had that conversation.
  15. Griffey and Clemente are both good comps for Robert IMO...same body types and tools. I'll be satisfied with Robert if he becomes close to comparable to either one of those guys.
  16. Timmy should be put on the DL as well. We need him at 100% come playoff time.
  17. I was this and was delighted. Lynn needs a breather before things get important. He's looked beat for a couple of outings now.
  18. Noone can be sure but we played wounded the entire year. With the whole team intact...I like our chances.
  19. Seems like two weeks since we had a game...this must be some kind of illness.
  20. Lopez looks like a different pitcher since speeding it up and he has lost that scared look as well.
  21. Yes, that is true...and for the same reason as Allen. For me, that comparison would be easily won by Allen but Belle is certainly in the conversation.
  22. Yep! We have the lineup and starting pitching. If the bullpen shows up we win this thing.
  23. Cease and Lopez just need some "eye of the tiger." Trust your stuff and throw the ball. When they start pitching with fear they can't throw strikes. Get the ball and throw the ball like Mark Buehrle. When you pitch slow and scared your fielders go to sleep and the walks bury you.
  24. On the bench for mop-up duty.
  25. Not to worry. With our whole team intact...we can beat anyone.
