  1. Too many people wringing their hands when we've just got the best young prospect in the system since Frank Thomas. JFC
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Just not a fan of Giolito. Oh well, clear the big name guys are unavailable Giolito has been considered one of the premier arms in minors for a few years. It seems like there's a prospect fatigue with him, that's affecting what everyone here is thinking. His upside is unreal.
  3. Liquidate everything and sign him. A player this valuable essentially breaks the game. Enabling him to play both sides of the ball at a high level would be unreal.
  4. Guys, Avi OPS'ed .840 after the ASG Clearly he turned the corner, it's only up from here! #MakeAviGreatAgain
  5. hell yeah b**** all aboard that exit velocity train Make Avisail Great Again
  6. Not only does Miller's low pitch count benefit the Tribe but a Tomlin-Salazar Game 6 is awfully interesting as well.
  7. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) They are built so well, young controllable talent, $$$ available for FA's. Heck their worst position player just got signed to a massive contract in Heyward and it doesn't even faze them. It would cripple most teams. I just really hope the Sox do the right thing and blow it up and truly rebuild. If the Cubs sign Arrieta to a long term deal they'll have something ridiculous like 70+ million tied into him, a late 30s Lester and Heyward. Their payroll will become a serious issue.
  8. I wonder if this is not in large part due to the decrease in baseball as a whole. I think this is in large part due to the growth of the NFL and the economic collapse. Most people aren't like you and I. They think they don't really have the time to invest into baseball that we do. Even the Cubs success for much of the season hasn't been the cultural magnet previous seasons seemed to be. And anyway, the vast majority of people just want to hop on a bandwagon and have fun. This city seems to have been taken over by transplants and finance/marketing people in the last 10 years. They've spent their 20s in dumb bars in Wrigley, of course they're on the bandwagon.
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) This is a rosy scenario and I admit that with a capable, proactive front office, some of these things could happen. But if relievers have that value why don't other teams draft relievers high, or at least put some of their top pitching prospects in the pen and rush them up? The best scenario is: 1)Burdi pitches like Giles, nails down a closer role, so trade him for a haul. That would be the move to make, but....when have you EVER seen this front office make a sell-high trade like that? That kind of move is simply not in the Hahn playbook. Plus it takes some luck on both teams willing to give up that much for a reliever and for Burdi to be that good. Addison Reed and Sergio Santos were both young stud relievers who the Sox were willing to move...
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) A lot of hype on Profar, but where's the production? He's been a top prospect just a little too long. Pass. He's OPSing like 785 this year
