  1. Smart enough to invoke a rule that Chuck, Ozzie and Bochy were unaware of. That isn't clueless. Bullpen management? If Gascan Bummer controls his stuff, it's not a topic of discussion. Managers don't make bullpen look good. It's the 180 degree opposite. And Bummer is Somebody. Still scares the hell out of me, true. Also, a word for the benefits of putting a bat on the ball and giving it a chance to make a seeing eye single which won a game tonight. But don't complain about the HR or nothing we've been getting. The new hitting coaches were hired to turn around Menechino's all singles offense and this is what they've gotten us. Miserable OBP's.
  2. Just an old guy’s recall here but didn’t JR have Schuyler on the payroll as a sore armed pitcher with a small but unbreakable contract so he made him pitching coach? GM was the next stop.
  3. Do you know what the partnership agreement says about passing JR's authority to his heirs? It can't be automatic, can it? Any lawyers around here: Can a partnership continue if a partner dies? Or does a new agreement have to be enacted? A partnership isn't a corporation, we all know.
  4. Since he has the most talent, he's underachieving at a higher level.
  5. Sounds like a plan. So somebody has one. Somebody in the FO? That's another story.
  6. Wish they made up for it in OBP. At least one of them shouldn't be hitting in front of the power guys. TA could be a nice 9 slot hitter, like another leadoff man when the lineup rolls over. Maybe at his next stop.
  7. Since Young Jerry was devastated by the loss of his beloved Dodgers this may be a bad example. It might be the only reason that he hasn't moved the team.
  8. $15M X 5 is ridiculous, isn't it? Awful application of resources by FO. How does JR see this and not go nuts if he's the nickel squeezer we think??
  9. I saw a nice diving catch of a sinking liner a day ago and he doesn't look lost under a fly ball, so you may be overstating your case. He's not Vaughn out there. And he has an uppercut swing, no secret. I'm not saying you're wrong overall, I'm just saying.
  10. Accurate and funny, except for the mind reading. And that might be accurate too. Gospel According To Me: If the bullpen could hold a lead, this thread doesn't happen.
  11. Doesn't mean that he didn't have a role in it, only that there's no percentage in patting someone on the back who's no longer there. I'm not saying he did have a role and he's sure made some odd moves here. At least he "came from a winning organization" which is always one of the automatics in hiring around this board.
  12. I looked at the roster and couldn't find Someone. Graveman is his best guy and has been unhittable for a month. Middleton has been close. Who did you have in mind? We beat their best guy Friday. It's baseball. You gotta love the game.
  13. Same three words for Lynn that I had for Keuchel. Learn the knuckleball.
  14. They're showcasing him for a trade. 😜
  15. Thanks for getting it. The home/road stats are a statistical anomaly based on the scant evidence of less than 1/3 of a season. Lets not treat them as if they were etched in stone or established over a career's length. Play him. He wins you ball games.
  16. Closer to one now than ever before, with his new handling skills, but still not the answer.
  17. Robert looks pa-bleeping-thetic. First among equals of the Big Three.
  18. T'weren't purty. Didn't have much of a personality either.
  19. We're supposed to be going for the power that was missing the last some years. That would explain part of it. And no one ever confused Charlie Lau with Rod Carew either.
  20. Started out with bad hands and still has bad hands. Can't teach instincts.
  21. I agree with you to a certain extent. All went great until the last week of the short season, when the team started to stagger and Ricky began to act sort of nutty in an attempt to shock them back on track. That may have been the signal to management to replace him (or the opportunity to hire an old buddy for no damn good reason).
  22. He hit a pitch that was clearly off the plate and I'd rather lose 3-0 than 1-0. Get 'em tomorrow.
