Yeah, I had Orioles tunnel vision there and thought you were assuming they specifically would be coasting to first place by the trade deadline. I forgot the list of suitors can/will look much different come July. I need more coffee.

I get it, but that assumes that a team would know ahead of time that they'll be in first place and/or won't need Cease until later in the season.

Not sure why you're leaving out June and July, but yes, having 4 months of starts of a good pitcher vs not having those 4 months of starts makes them more valuable.

I'm beginning to feel that way too and I just hate taking that risk. Aside from the obvious injury risk, you basically need him to perform significantly better than 2023 to cancel out the value lost with each start he's not making for a potential trade partner. Can he do that? Of course. But it's something I'm hoping for rather than expecting.

Wait, are you actually saying that your recent track record of success with prospects doesn’t make you more optimistic about others in your system than fans of other teams would be? I literally don’t know what you’re LOL’ing about here. I’d feel the same if I were an O’s fan.

Which illustrates a fundamental difference as we argue over the value of some of these prospects. We’re scarred by poor development and failed prospects, while O’s fans are wearing rose colored glasses with their Adley and Gunnar jerseys. I get the thinking on both sides.

You can’t possibly think that’s how any of us feel, right? No one hates the Sox more than Sox fans.

Everyone’s forgetting that we also need a new play-by-play announcer to replace Benetti to come back in any Cease trade.
