QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) So can someone tell me how exactly you can have both the Marquette/Alabama and UCLA/Belmont games from the Oakland Regional and the Washington/Utah State and Illinois/Air Force games from the Washington D.C. regional in the same stadium (Cox Arena, S.D.)? How can you have 2 regionals, based on opposite sides of the country, in the same stadium? Pods. People. -

Reports are that the games will be delayed by 2 hours.... This is a good thing. There should be an old-school late game on tonight. -

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Yeah, the Witchita State game is messed up. I just started to get the audio feed with a little over a minute left in the first. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) Hmm, I really thought it was Anahiem based on the seating arrangement, but I didn't pay THAT close of attention. No, I agree that it was anahiem. I'm just trying to figure out WTF the lines were there for.

Am I the only one who's getting elevator music instead of the Video's regular audio feed?
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) It was Anahiem. And the airport shots with the plane in the background - was at LAX. What's even funnier is I know EXACTLY what building that was shot in, and every time I see that damn 747-100 sitting out behind it with "KALITTA AIR" on it, I about laugh myself to death. I used to work for the company that had that plane before Kalitta had it. As a matter of fact that could be the one we played football in while waiting for an ice storm to clear up. Can you explain the football marking on the field then? That was the only thing that led me to question where the baseball scene was filmed.

Korea Wins. USA will advance with a win, or a 1-0 loss. -
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) That said, I wouldn't mind getting a shot at Yulieski Gouriel. He'd look good in a Sox jersey. His father and uncle (I believe) were also on the Cuban Nation Team. They're treated like kings in Cuba. He doesn't quite have the incentive to defect that some of the others have.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) exactly... Teddy Greenstein wrote a smear piece in the Trib afterwards. Here's hoping Greenstien now apologizes and writes the truth about the lies that come out of the Cubs organization. No public apology, but he a Carroll must have made nice over the phone.... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines

Cuba advanced to the WBC semifinals in San Diego... How many players will they lose to defection?
-
It obviously wasn't USCF. I was pretty sure that it was Anahiem (Left field looked like ANA, and they appeared to have the ANA dugout suites) until they panned out. There were clearly lines on the field for a football game.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) From what I have heard about Cintron, he is really inconsistent with the glove at SS. He will make an outstanding play one minute and completely botch a more routine play the next. There's no way his glove is as good as Uribe's although his bat could be better. He's made his 3rd error of the WBC tonight. That's one E every other game.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) what else is he throwin? what kind of pitches? It was too quick to really be a good judge. He threw one breaking ball that got a swing and a miss. Hawk called it nasty, but when isn't he praising somebody? -

That was pretty impressive from LOOGYN (I get all royalties from the nickname) His delivery isn't quite side-arm, but it's not your typical 3/4 delivery either. It's almost Cotts-like in that the ball seems to be hard to pick up. touched 89 on the gun, so he's not throwing complete junk. -

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) Santo=dorf was the first one to bring up Osuna and he has to be better than the rest of these gas cans vying for the job. I just watched tape of his inning pitched last night... He topped out at about 90 on the gun. -- I seem to remember him throwing in the low-to-mid 90's with us. Control looked good, though he didn't appear to have command of his slider(81-83). What was working for him was an off-speed pitch (73-77), and I couldn't really tell you what it was. It looked almost like a PHAT curveball that was only breaking a little, but I suspect it was justa changeup. He got a few of them up in the zone, but Japan was way out in front of it every time he threw it. -

Boone Logan to start in the majors?...
Gene Honda Civic replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
According to Dave van Dyck, Logan's been in AAA for three years. No need to worry guys, he's got plenty of experience. -
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) Unfortunately Pods is a hard player to replace. If he is not 100%, then they need to give Owens a shot. QUOTE(toasty @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) if pods is dl'ed for start of season, might ozzie leave the bench players in place and give ryan sweeny some time in the OF, provided he continues to perform well in ST? Depends on what they do with the bullpen situation. You have to figure that Gload or Borchard would be included in a package for a reliever. And if one of them was traded, and Pods couldn't go, Owens would probably come north. If Gload and Borchard aren't traded, and Pods is a no-go, Owens will start in AAA. It will give KW more time to shop Gload/Borch. And maybe even allow him to slip one of them through waivers once Pods is due to come back off the DL.
