  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) can we get one guy on and let Thome hit his first walkoff....please? That would imply another scoreless inning by our pen. VERY unlikely.
  2. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) Crede wasn't suppose to be one of our top RBI guys. ARam last year was suppose to be #2 behind Lee, before Lee went down. 2 different roles last year for those guys. That's like saying you can't compare Derek Jeter and Juan Uribe because they have two different roles.
  3. QUOTE(Craig Grebeck @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) Eggy's top PECOTA comparable? Brandon Webb And that's kinda my point. I don't for a second think that he's in the same class as Webb. But when you take a look at sinkerballers as a group, you still have trouble finding a player with the HR suppression skills of Egbert. He's somewhere between Webb and those three guys I listed yesterday, which (I think) puts him as a future 3-4..
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) I'll ask again... why is healthcare treated as a right? I've said this before, and I still haven't gotten a good answer. Human decency?
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Browsing through Kannapolis' game notes available on their official website, De Los Santos isn't projected to pitch any of the following three games (Fri./Sat./Sun). He hasn't started since June 13th. Either he's injured, the organization is forcing him to skip a start, or he's about to be promoted. The All-star game was probably his day to pitch, and they just decided to keep him on rotation. (skip a start, but give him the 1IP in the All-Star game)
  6. FLoyd couldn't get out #27... His line was 8.2IP 0R 4H 1BB 7K. But he gave up two "soft liners" which sounds like bloop hits to me. Then struck out terry tiffee, but he made it to first on what was ruled a wild pitch. Then he walked the next batter on 5 pitches. It was an even better outing than the line indicated. At the time he was acquired, I wasn't a fan. But I qualified that by saying that if he didn't turn into something by April of '08 then he never would. Here's hoping that he's turning into something useful/valuable. Now seems like the perfect time to give him a try.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) I'm not familiar with the level or respective leagues of every pitcher on the international team, but DLS matches up favorably with all of them statistically. Only Henry Sosa holds an advantage. I'll be interested in watching him pitcher several weeks from now. Sosa was in high A, just got promoted to AA.
  8. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) Because hes 24 years old and in AA and hes all the sudden going to come in and be in our rotation? I personally don't think hes ever going to pitch in the MLB, and the love fest with him is just mind boggling to me. Aaron Cook, Clay Hensley, Shawn Hill All three are sinkerballers who were old for their league. All three posted worse numbers than Eggy. He's a legit prospect. He's not going to be a 1 or 2, but a solid 3-4 for cheap is very likely.
  9. Richar! 1-8 with 4 Ks in the White Sox organization.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) You guys suck at this. meh. I would call Shelby and Cassell hits.
  11. No, Podsednik doubled once in 3 at-bats. He was also picked off, which the article didn't mention.
  12. Oakland, the team who drafted immediately after us and who was connected with Aaron Poreda, signed their first rounder (a college RHP) and assigned him to AA.
  13. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) I would say that it's very encouraging that Broadway has put up the type of numbers that he has considering he's been developing command of a two-seamer. I think the second half of the season is going to be a very good barometer of how well he and the pitch have progressed. But averaging less than a H/IP with moderate walk totals while developing a primary pitch are very good signs. This is pretty much how I've thought. In spring training when they were talking about him adding the 2-seamer, I told myself that I wasn't going to pay attention to his stats until after the All-Star break. I'm surprised that he's been able to limit runs as well as he has. I don't know how he's doing it. Hopefully, you'll see him improve even more in the second half, and post some numbers that make it easy to understand his success.
  14. Padres traded traded a backup catcher and an underperforming supplemental round pick for Barret, cash, and two of the first 50 picks in the '08 draft. Yeah the Padres raped the Cubs there.
  15. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) Can anyone guess who this is? Don't cheat.. Just hope that a high draft pick can rediscover his talent, even if it means going all the way back to A ball. Halladay /not a cheater
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) Can we please just disband the idea of bunting? It is killing our team. I nominate Terrero for bunting instructor. Instead of trying to put the bat on the ball, try using a body part.
  17. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) When I saw this, I knew without even checking that he did poorly. What's even worse. Is that I tried to post in another thread where somebody was excited about Richar's first appearance in Charlotte that I bet he goes 0-for with 3K's now that he's a Sox prospect, but my I got a PHP error. I was off by one.
  18. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) That move doesn't seem to make any sense. I know. No one in this organization gets fired for underperforming
  19. This moves some guy named Billingsley to the rotation, which would throw a wrench into the rumored JD for JB deals. It would almost seem to necessitate a blockbuster white flag to get a deal done now. Buehrle and Dye for Billingsley, Hu, Kershaw.... That won't happen. And the Sox still wouldn't have added anything athletic to their lineup.
  20. Danks' last 5 starts.... 24.2 IP, 32H, 5 HR, 16 BB, 14 K Not pretty.
  21. Purgatory - a temporary condition of torment or suffering

  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 10:19 AM) you're a bad fan. and work on your analogies. I'll just assume that you like mixed metaphors then.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:21 AM) Konerko, Dye and Pierzynski were asked around the break last season what the team needed for the second half in order to win it all, of course the players said they didn't need anything and hence KW made no real moves to improve the ballclub aside from adding 1 reliever to the fray. Didn't he ask Konerko and Thome about the makeup of the club in ST too? That could just be faulty memory. It's one thing to ask for players input, it's another to believe what they say.
