  1. After all the decades of Hawk Harrelson harping on Joe West, time will tell if Joe's impact to the Sox, good or bad, will be the result of his actions in a Sox game impacting the opposing team.
  2. Yes, I've always enjoyed a day at the park (Comiskey especially, but elsewhere as well). Win or lose, whether the team is contending or not. Not sure fans expected the Cleveland @ Tampa game to be the first game to be postponed today. They plan on a DH tomorrow, the fourth in Tampa's history, as the hurricane that is approaching today should be non threatening tomorrow.
  3. Most teams would make a guy like Molina (or his battery mate Wainwright) at his stage of his career available if they were out of it as the Cardinals are (7 1/2 games out of a WC). Not sure if it will happen, even if they consent to a trade, because they have been Cardinals for life. The team still sells out most games, will want to keep "Cardinals Nation" happy. If they can sell it as giving either/both one last chance at a WS, the fan base could be sold. Still recall during the offseason the Cardinals were seen as a near lock on the Division / Wild Card this year after their cheap acquisition of Arenado. The Cardinals are 12th in the NL (21st in MLB) in run differential. They have had minimal injuries, they just have played mediocre baseball.
  4. I do miss the Sox selling $3 tickets per game at the building I worked at for select weekday April, May and September games in 2019, and you could sit wherever you liked with the upper bowl closed for all of the games. Cost more to go to one Sox spring training game last year than eight 2019 regular season games. Tickets just under $20 are the best available this year on Stubhub, stuck in the upper bowl. Can't even buy scalped tickets outside after the game started since tickets are now all electronic. Meh.
  5. All I know is I don't want Grandal, Eloy, Luis, Engel (and Madrigal next year) to return to the field until they are 100% recovered from their respective injuries.
  6. Many here think "Nicky Two Strikes" (TM Benetti) is a lineup fixture for years/a decade plus. The board was also near unanimous Grandal would continue to catch 120 + games a season, in his mid 30s, when the Sox had no intention to do so slotting him with 3 of the 5 starters this season for just over 100 games, prior to his latest injury.
  7. Games played since Eloy's 2019 Promotion: 258 Yoan Moncada 177 Eloy Jimenez Games played since "Mr. 3000's" 2020 Promotion: 126 Yoan Moncada (and then the rest of this season) 83 Nick Madrigal Facts are stubborn things.
  8. They can call Jarred back up in July, and if he plays 61 more games, will have played more games than Nick Madrigal's entire career, with I believe two additional years of service time remaining under the current CBA since Jarred will be less than 1 year, with Nick at 2 years even though he was healthy enough to only play 83 games. Still skeptical whether Mr. 3000 will remain healthy and productive enough to bat 3,000 times in the major leagues.
  9. Bullpen help for the Sox?
  10. Agreed, but what if he merely the First Base coach?
  11. Let’s face it. Even with Eloy out and later Robert, the Sox had enough good pitching and players to overcome Tony’s dumb ass win probability sabotaging strategery. There aren’t enough players at this point to pick up La Russa’s absurd decisions. He really needs to go.
  12. Fuck small ball. Seriously.
  13. It was over the hitters head per Len and ruled a wild pitch.
  14. Who is clearing these players coming back hurt (Grandal, Engel, Hamilton,)? The medical staff or Tony “I need to win 162 games” La Russa? I don’t ever recall so many players go down over and over re-aggravating the same injury, in Engel’s case at least three times.
  15. And to Reddit, Steve Stone’s Twitter account and the FBI.
  16. Seven game hitting streak for Vaughn.
  17. Do you seriously think he would feel anything?
  18. Asleep at the wheel is his MO. Hopefully he’s gone before the playoffs.
  19. Is he fully healthy, or only enough to play 2 or 3 games a week max like last time before he got hurt yet again?
  20. How bad is it? Len said something looked like it popped.
  21. I posted the Twins sucked at all phases of baseball in the game one game thread last week, and was reprimanded during a futile Twins rally that they do not suck. Can they really be in last place? Is this merely a dream on a hot summer day? Let’s check Snopes: Snopes response: True. The Twins do in fact suck, are in last place, and Josh Donaldson is Jive Ass Turkey for not facing the music and vengeance this evening. Go Sox!!!
  22. LOLz. Players getting hurt jumping up and down after a ball game, yes common "maladies", Not going to bother sifting through all of that nonsense, I'll break it down so that even you can understand. The Chicago White Sox dictate where Eloy will play, not Eloy. Rick Hahn stated they will make the determination of future playing time, not Eloy. Eloy has been on the roster for 305 games. He has already missed 128 games and counting, or over 40%, all but a couple due to the fact THAT HE WAS/IS and will ALWAYS BE INJURED attempting to do something he cannot, play Left Field. You once attributed it to "Baby Fat". It's not Baby Fat. It's due to the fact that he is physically and mentally unable to field the outfield position. Let's see if these videos uncover whether Eloy has any ability to field his position, or stay healthy, playing LF. 1:55 Watch this fine approach of Eloy, unaware of his surroundings as he Kung Fu kicks the LF wall pursuing an uncatchable HR (it's Eloy's signature play). https://www.mlb.com/video/cg-det-cws-4-26-19 0:49 Eloy Jimenez, no awareness of the warning track or wall, in his home park, before headbutting the wall on, wait for it, another ball over the fence. 2:20 Too dizzy to track a ball hit to LF (in lands behind him, Robert retrieved it for him. Eloy is then pulled from the game, played on the DL. Eloy caught by Spider Man. 167 games of A. Ignoring the CFer calling him off, B. Closes his eyes and puts his head down and reaches out for the ball, pathetic technique. https://www.mlb.com/video/jimenez-leaves-with-arm-injury Same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Another jackass attempt at an uncatchable ball, this time in a meaningless exhibition.
  23. Even if you wave a magic wand and somehow Eloy improves from atrocious to bad in LF, the dual consideration is he cannot stay healthy. Eloy has a great bat. He sucks and adds no value as a fielder and is prone to injury. It behooves the team to keep him permanently at DH, to maximize the number of times Eloy can be healthy enough to bat in a White Sox uniform. 4/26/19 - Eloy Jimenez suffers a high ankle sprain attempting to play Left Field. Eloy is placed on IR, returned 5/20 7/16/19 - Eloy collides with Charlie Tilson attempting to play Left Field. Eloy suffers a right ulnar nerve contusion and is placed on IR, returned 7/28 7/26/20 - Eloy Jimenez attacks the wall in Left Field with his head and losses that battle. Eloy avoids IR, returned 7/29 8/25/20 - Eloy Jimenez twisted his ankle attempting to preserve celebrating Lucas Giolito's no hitter. Returned 8/27 9/24/20 - Eloy sprained his foot attempting to run the bases. Missed the remainder of the regular season and all but two at bats in the postseason. 3/23/21 - Eloy Jimenez tears his pectoral tendon, attempting to catch a ball 10 feet over the LF wall. Eloy is placed on the 60 Day IR, misses the first four + months of the season.
