Along that same vein, more money for the owners is not going to lead to lower ticket prices, nor is more money for the players going to lead to higher ticket prices. Ticket prices are market driven. Kind of the same concept as higher corporate taxes don't cause higher consumer prices, but that's a whole other topic.

Even if in one specific instance you know who you already want to hire, I think the "Rooney Rule" interview still helps because the minority candidates accumulate the experience of the interview process which might help them land the next job. I do think it's weird though, that because the Bears have a minority GM they weren't racist for not hiring him but the teams with white GMs who didn't hire him are.

I'm just wondering when this is going to become the norm for all channels. The technology exists with apps on smart TVs/phones. Hopefully, soon we'll be able to pay Disney directly for ABC/ESPN/ACCN/etc. Pay Universal directly for NBC/USA/CNBC/MSNBC/etc. Pay Viacom directly for CBS/CBSSN/etc. Pay FOX directly for FOX/FS1/etc. Pay Turner directly for CNN/TBS/TNT/etc. Cut out the providers.

I'm guessing blackout rules would still apply, so in theory you could buy the channel but only watch the non-game programming.

If you only watch Sox/Bulls/Hawks and don't watch any college football/basketball, that's great news, but if you do watch college football/basketball, you're still going to need a package that includes ESPN and almost all of those include NBCS Chicago anyway.

If they beat El Slavador Wednesday and Costa Rica loses or draws against Jamaica, OR if Canada ties and Costa Rica loses, Canada clinches at least 4th place, which is a playoff with what is certain to be New Zealand. So yeah, they're gonna get in.
