  1. They might as well set fire to them for all the good they are doing with them.
  2. Getz is just trying to prove last season wasn't a fluke!
  3. I think Opening Day and first home series will always be more popular no matter how badly the team did the previous season. The real indication will be attendances over the next few home series if the current on field performance carries on.
  4. The headline says "White Sox front office still has faith in long-term plan", well at least somebody has faith, and apparently there is a plan!
  5. I remember Getz was hired instead of an outside candidate as he knew the organisation and so that a big rebuild wouldn't be needed! How's that going?
  6. You can't have got good odds on them losing!
  7. At least this offense is showing that on its day it can get runs home, who'd have thought that hitting home runs was a good idea!
  8. Well at least they made national news! I can't see the team making much national news unless they break their own loss record.
  9. On what basis does he get as high as a D? He constructed the worst team in baseball history last year and on paper it is no better (in fact you could argue worse). If, and it is a big if, the prospects he is amassing turn out to be the basis of a winning team then he will deserve a much higher rating but so far most of his trades look bad at best.
  10. I couldn't give Getz anything but an F after the worst season in history, and nothing he has done this winter suggests they will be much better this season.
  11. Not necessarily 'excited' but interested to see if Vargas can improve from his poor showing at the end of last season. Not expecting amazing things but his showing at the end of last season was too bad to be true.
  12. I picked 49-52 hoping that the majority of the players have a minor improvement without the Grifol effect. I know that hoping for 'bounce back' seasons from players will usually result in disappointment but I am trying to be an optimist. My main worry is that the pitching looks weaker than last year and that is before any potential injuries.
  13. Well I know it is only Spring Training but if you had said the score would be 10-0 in the 3rd, you wouldn't have thought it would be the White Sox with 10!
  14. One issue is will 'big name' FAs want to join the White Sox 'project', recently there has been a suggestion that the White Sox are so dysfunctional that 'big name' FAs would not sign. Even if the Jerry regime is cleared out by 2025/26 it maybe be too soon for players to risk signing on long contracts not knowing if things have improved yet. Obviously a lot will depend on who the GM and manager are. I find it most unlikely that the Ishbia brothers would give hundreds of millions to Getz to spend. Venable may be the man to stay as manager, a lot will depend on how he manages this season, not so much results but how the team and younger players develop.
  15. Sadly it is now 2025 and those GG seasons are a distant memory.
  16. For that 4 season spell between 2019 and 2022 he was probably near 'star level' which made his drop off even more dramatic.
  17. I think you mean 'So much cheaper than experienced relievers'.
  18. I agree but Fletcher has only had 100 games and those weren't in long spells, so it is still worth giving him a good go next season as results are not going to be important, and if after a season chance he still isn't up to it then yes, minors or release.
  19. Even if they do get off to another record setting losing pace wouldn't it be better to still play the young players than to get a couple of ageing vets in the hope of getting nearer 50 wins than 40 wins? At least that way the season will not be a complete waste as young players will get experience and the Sox will know which of them isn't going to make it.
  20. Even if the White Sox had 2 Golden Bats per innings it would have made little differences last season.
