  1. This will be difficult without trading the likes of Giolito and other high earners with short time left on contracts, and once you do that you might as well do a rebuild. Also there is virtually no point trying to improve the current team because even if by some miracle of mediocrity in the Central Division they scraped into the play offs they would be beaten in the first round anyway. I agree that Hahn supervising another rebuild is an unpleasant thought but as JR is unlikely to sack him we just have to hope that Hahn gets lucky this time (unlikely as that thought is).
  2. Its almost as if he is trying to p*ss off the fans so that he then has an excuse to move the franchise due to lack of attendance.
  3. These bad seasons are one thing but the Whites Sox recently seem experts in the type of season where they are 5-10 games behind and just remain mediocre throughout, sometimes getting to 2 or 3 games behind but never really dropping out of contention totally, as a result Hahn hangs on and they never trade anyone or try a mini-rebuild.
  4. An infielder with a back injury! Sounds a perfect fit for the White Sox team, bring him up!
  5. Agreed, basically Hahn is not very good, whether it is with signing veterans or young players
  6. To be fair they did do that with Moncada and look what that got them!
  7. Mind you that is about 10% more than they had at the end of April.
  8. Not just the Front Office but how these players are coached on the way through the system.
  9. Just read this article; Each organization's best pick from the 2018 MLB Draft It sums up everything about the Front Office and scouting of this organisation. It identifies Nick Madrigal as our best pick from the 2018 Draft, when we were supposed to be stocking up on top talent during the rebuild that would bring 'years of challenging for success'. Madrigal the top White Sox pick was sent down to AAA last week by the Cubs. And what did that top pick bring the White Sox? Half a season of Madrigal, then a trade for Kimbrel, who achieved nothing, who was traded for Pollock , who achieved nothing. So the top pick in 2018 brought the White Sox nothing. But it doesn't stop there apart from Romy Gonzalez not one of the 2018 Draft is currently on the MLB squad, and none of the rest are anywhere near contributing or are still at the Sox. So all in all the 2018 Draft was a complete waste for the Sox either through bad scouting, bad player development or a combination of the two.
  10. They may be 9-7 over the last 16 but they are 5-5 over the last 10 and did just drop a series 3-1 to the Royals! 2 nice wins against the Guardians is good to see but lets not go booking World Series tickets just yet!
  11. As one of the players who can't seem to convert RISP surely he is partly to blame for a team that 'isn't doing well'. As for not being offered a contract extension, I am sure that his injury record in recent seasons and salary demands have something to do with that.
  12. Just read this on the official White Sox site: White Sox lose third straight, hold clubhouse meeting (mlb.com) If yesterday was how they react to Grifol giving them a behind closed doors talking to then the players clearly don't care and aren't playing for him.
  13. Post game Grifol said “There’s a lot of baseball left …". And for the current Sox that means a lot more games like this!
  14. That will be true long before the last week of the season, so we can expect plenty more performances like this.
  15. The division may be won at .500 but even a healthy Whites Sox would need to go 68-57 the rest of the season. Unfortunately, the evidence so far this season suggests that we won't get a 'healthy' core for enough games to achieve that.
  16. It is sometimes hard to tell the difference, after all this season is supposedly a 'trying season' and that has achieved a .333 win percentage, when they finally give up on the season imagine how bad it could get!
  17. I agree that you should never want your team to lose but having pride in your team is hard when the ownership, front office and players appear to have no pride in the team. And equally whilst a new owner doesn't guarantee wins or a championship, just having an owner who cares about the team and its fanbase other than as a cash cow would be a start.
  18. Hahn may have made all these 'Grade A' and 'B' trades but the idea was to create a team that would be challenging for multiple post season success, not a team that has appeared twice and been knocked out in the first round both times and is now a busted flush. Equally, the Red Sox didn't do too badly out of the Sale trade as they did win a World Series!
  19. Thanks for correcting my poor American English! 😁 And thanks for taking the time to do that research. Was quite surprised to see Anderson played fewest games in 2 of the 3 seasons, equally surprised that Moncada played most in 2 of the 3! But overall IF they could play even 50% of the games the chances a better than .500 season would dramatically improve, but all 4 seem fragile or just unlucky with injuries.
  20. Not using a 6th starter doesn't matter if the 5 you have are not performing!
  21. That is shocking! So in only 10% of games the 'core' of the rebuild have played together. That stat on its own goes a long way to explaining why this rebuild has been a bust, and you then factor in the impact all those injuries have on consistency. The fact that any replacements for them are bad due to Hahn's squad building skills and you get the White Sox team we have had to suffer!
