At what point will it be riskier to keep Hahn than fire him?
Chimpton replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Once the ship has already hit the iceberg then replacing the captain has little point! But any decent captain would go down with his ship. -
That long!
-
Also there is no real pressure on them to perform as the squad is so weak there is rarely ever anyone challenging them for their position.

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
Chimpton replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's not the only one of the Sox hitters who will do that! -
I would dispute this bit, even the fancy/shiny pieces are broken or clapped out parts!
-
I said this in another thread, this is the really worrying thing, they are actually trying at the moment and are this bad. At least during the tank seasons under Ricky R. you got the sense they were trying to educate them to do the basics right and he would only accept maximum effort, at the moment they can't even do the basics and look disinterested at best, losing doesn't look like it bothers them that much.

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...

The idea of having someone to mentor Pedro is not terrible, but the idea of getting TLR back is. -

The worrying thing is they have the 4th worst record while supposedly still trying to win! -
That sounds like a Soviet Era euphemism for executed!
-
Blimey those stats make the TLR era look like a golden age!

Yeah, but with Hahn doing that tweaking it would only get worse not better.
-
Why give Hahn another chance? He has had enough chances and produced this steaming turd.

Pedro is only 16 games into his managerial career and whilst he has made some decisions that have turned out wrong it is a bit early to write him off completely. His potential over-use of starters may say more about his lack of confidence in the bullpen, and when choosing relievers he is pretty limited when so many of them seem to be pitching badly. Maybe he has used Diekman too much but he hardly has any in form alternatives, Bummer is giving away games, Lopez has blown games and Graveman has been equally bad, and they are the 3 'best' relievers we have fit and well. The offense is looking potentially better than last season but once again injuries are depriving the team of some of its better hitters and the replacements are, with the exception of Burger, pretty poor. We all knew there were holes all over the line up even with a healthy team, but when you remove so many of the round pegs you are bound to end up with square pegs for round holes. Pedro might turn out to be an below average manager or an above average manager but with this squad the chance of him showing his true abilities are severely limited by the squad Hahn and co have botched together.

4-16 GT: Orioles at Sox (1:10pm) - Delayed til 3:30
Chimpton replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2023 Season in Review
A fair assessment of the season so far and at 6-10 the prospect of the White Sox seeing .500 again this season is zero. -
At least until they lose a game, you can't break a lucky winning superstition!

A bit early to say that but even a good manager would struggle with this poor squad. -

Is that the new Front Office slogan for this season? -
Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.

Not sure why anyone is in the least bit surprised, its the same old story with the same old players. -
New season same old story. The same players getting 'little' injuries that then turn into bigger injuries. It will only be a matter of time before Grandal or Robert pick up an injury. There is no point having 'talent' if it struggles to get on the field, and constantly missing games with minor injuries then affects form and the replacements we have are not up to it due to the poor squad building of Hahn and co.

You forgot to mention Moncada and his 'bad back' which will no doubt will not be something minor and result in him missing half the season! -

GT: 4/1 | Sox (1-1) @ Astros (1-1) | Giolito vs. Urquidy
Chimpton replied to Eminor3rd's topic in 2023 Season in Review
Only 3 games in and some positive signs and some negative signs. But they have been at least competitive against the WS Champs from last season. My biggest worry is that the bullpen has not looked good at all in the last 2 days and if that continues it will be a long season! A 1-2 start could have been 2-1 but equally could have been 0-3 if the opening day comeback hadn't happened. But it is important to try not to start 1-3 as they would already be chasing and confidence at the beginning of this season will be important. -

If this was last season Leury Garcia would have been starting not on the bench to PH! -
I was responding to a comment that said if he played outfield he would be less likely to get hamstring injuries if he was 'stretched out' by playing outfield. But one factor, but I agree not the only one, in hamstring injuries is failure to stretch out or warm up before explosive exercise like running the bases, that is why athletes warm up before sprint races in athletics!
