Seeing a performance like this from Robert makes his poor form all season even more harder to explain.

That was partially my point, Jerry or TLR will no doubt interfere with this hire as well, how much Pedro was Hahn's choice or Jerry's remains a question!

Unfortunately that will only help if the man selecting them isn't the same one who selected the last 'outside the organisation' manager.

Which season? His second half this season has been brutal and has destroyed any hope of getting a 'haul'.

Just the effort and atmosphere around this team has improved since Grifol went. I know that new manager bounce occurs but you have to think that this team would be better than 29-91 if they had had a different manager all season, not .500 or challenging but certainly not historically bad, and they would have been easier on the eye and easier to support.

I hope this 'mechanical issue' isn't the prelude to his arm falling off.

Mind you he is the team leader in batting average, runs, home runs and RBI. But I think that says more about the White Sox offence as his average is .235, 43 runs, 14 home runs and 52 rbi.

Is that 84 playing days or was he on the IL for some of that?

I agree the team have completely messed up his development, and part of me hopes that he goes elsewhere and has a successful career. I have nothing against Vaughn, but the fact that statistically he is the best hitter this season shows how bad things are.

The streak had to end sometime. I was astounded to read that 197 separate pitchers had won an MLB game since the last White Sox win (before last night). Which apparently worked out at nearly 50% of active MLB pitchers!

True. The fact that Robert with 0.8 war is leading the batting is another indication of how monumentally bad this team is offensively, by the way Moncada is second on the list with 0.3 and he hasn't played since early April. Of the 28 position players used this season only 8 have a positive war, 2 have a 0.0 war, and the remaining 18 players all have a negative war.

But the fact that he is the best performing hitter the White Sox have is a problem.

Vaughn averages .235 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI. All three of those stats are best among Chicago hitters this season. If that doesn't sum up why the White Sox offense is so bad this season nothing does.

Does money from attendance make a big difference to a clubs finances in baseball? Being from the UK I know that in the case of many Premier League Football teams they can operate without the money from attendance because of the numerous sponsorships and off field earnings.

I know, which is another reason to get rid of Pedro asap

If the only thing the end of this season provides is experience for young players like them then at least that is something positive.

With this loss the White Sox are only 4 losses from falling below .500 in their all time win/loss record, something that they haven't been since 1956!

I'm beginning to think that Getz is really going for the record this season.

Before 'rebuilding' the existing structure needs gutting of all things that are unsound, and that means more than just the playing staff. Any 'rebuild' under the present FO, GM and ownership will be doomed to failre.

Grifol for manager of the season! It is not often a manager has a record breaking season that surpasses all others in history.

That is half the problem the FO and owner actually thought this team was anywhere near challenging.
