  1. Toronto is now 47-40. They are enjoying getting to bag some automatic wins vs. our dull White Sox. ... Seriously at this risk of being repetitive and hyperbolic ... what would it hurt letting Oz take over the rest of the year? Would cost Jerry a bit of money having to pay off pedro and pay ozzie a decent salary for a few months, but it'd be interesting at least. Did u hear ozzie's rant about how great the USA is the other day? Quit holding a grudge for his leaving the team that one year with a week and a half left. We're at the point we need some fun. nobody can deny that.
  2. Oh my. Timmy is 0 for 5. He needs a change of scenery.
  3. I wish Sox would acquire Massey and Lopez from KC just to go with some local guys in a throwaway year. Also the short guy Madrigal from the Cubs, the former high Sox draft pick. With Sox out of it, Colas should play every day the rest of the way. See what we got in him.
  4. The inept Royals getting boatraced by minnie last series has kind of buried the Sox finally.
  5. Too bad Elvis is up now.
  6. Wow the Sox have three hits and two BBs. At least Colas just tagged a hit.

Those old Chicago basements are kind of cool if they don't get remodeled. Our had cement walls and was pretty spacious. Until my parents did the remodel thing down there, we as kids put up a hockey net, used a rubber ball or tennis ball and played full out field hockey down there in our basement. You could take full-out slap shots. We did bust one of those small windows once. I don't think my dad got too mad for some reason. ... I do remember the basement flooding once or twice.
  8. I hear you, but even tho i'm a broken record, i'll say again these modern players have their launch angles down pat. I mean he could struggle after being in the all star home run derby, but not if he just returns to his preferred launch angle. I love Robert (but) it's pretty obvious he's another HR or nothing guy. Not being negative. I only want to praise him in this thread.
  9. This board understandably is quite negative in 2023. So I would like to put aside negativism for a moment and salute Luis Robert, who has a chance to be our city's next true superstar (with the Blackhawks kid). Please post something here congratulating this still young player for his awesome performance so far this season. Knock on wood on the injury thing. I would like to say, Thank you Luis for all the bombs. You are a very good hitter and appear to take your craft seriously and enjoy playing baseball. Keep it up and have fun at the All-Star game. You are a great bright spot on this team. Keep it up if you can. Keep trying and stay healthy. And congrats on the all star bid. It said he almost cried upon hearing the news. If the Sox are ever gonna win again, this man may be our next fan fave and leader.
  10. Yeah, me too. I think it's because except for Robert, who actually has learned to quit waving at junk out of the strike zone and has decided to bash strikes and not wave at balls, most of the other players are very unlikeable. Often our best hitters go 1 for 4 or 0 for 4 with the weakest, most selfish at bats. I think a lot of us got worn out by selfish baseball and with nobody to root for individually, we kind of 'hate' this pathetic team.
  11. Good thing Robert gave that big crowd one thing to cheer about. Another disappointing loss.
  12. That's what I wanted pre Sale trade. I thought with a good front office and scouts there was no need for the ridiculous tank/rebuild. I stand by my position and in this case indeed am willing to say the dreaded I told you so.
  13. I would suspect the Sox try to get rid of everybody possible who makes a decent buck, excluding three hitters: Burger, Eloy and Robert. And maybe Vaughn. Everybody else will be shopped or shipped. Including all pitchers. Pitchers have lost their value in my mind cause they are all 3 to 5 inning wonders. If a guy can't go 6-7 innings in my mind he's not worth any commitment to $. The reason? No fans are clamoring to keep any players except maybe Robert. So it's a prime way for the Sox to save money on salaries. Get rid of all making a decent dollar. When a team is going nowhere and is unlikeable it's easy for a GM to clean house. If the Sox are ever going to play and win modern baseball they need to keep the three decent HR total guys though. Only holdup? You are trusting Hahn to make all the trades when he's probably going to be fired after the season. That's a dilemma.

Been reading about the rain in Chicago, 9 inch deluge in some parts. Best wishes to you all living there. My ?: I used to sell Jet Dry waterproofing for basements. Did any of you have severe flooding? Any stories of entire homes on the south side or suburbia being totally destroyed? Just wondering if any had horror stories or rescue stories from such a deluge. Best wishes to u all who were affected. I know as a kid on 103rd St and Trumbull area many families were concerned when the clouds opened. Peace to all affected. Will insurance pay for most all damage repair?
  15. We all know the Sox are one of the worst stories in baseball this year. Utterly depressing team. My ?: Is Connor Bedard the real deal? Is he destined to bring championship hockey to Chicago and soon? Is he worth the hype? Are u excited about him? Should all Hawks fans be expecting a return to greatness? Optimism in the midst of lousy baseball?
  16. I know I anger some with my love for Oz and desire for him to be manager again, but have any of you seen his takes lately on Sox issues? I was doing a twitter search for ozzie guillen and got a lot of clips from the pregame and postgame shows. He was hilarious blasting Lance Lynn for ripping the Angels player for bunting. He said Lynn 'looked like a 105 year old man' trying to field the bunt, lol. ... Oz said he'd go 3-for-4 vs. Lynn when he was a player cause he'd bunt. ... He also commented on running for mayor in some suburb and was hilarious about being the only Latin family there and needing more Latin folks to move there and vote for him. ... Also he wanted TA down in the order. He's not afraid of insulting pedro and yet he's not ruthless about it. Refreshing. I see no harm in making him interim for the rest of the season. If it gets dicey again fire him back to the postgame show.
  17. How did we almost get swept by a miserable team that had no fans in the stands? Oh my our Sox stink.
  18. I consider Moncada an official bust. I'd deal him as soon as Sox can get 3 guys for him. Cmon. Some team will think they can fix him. Deal him soon.
  19. Jake prolly should have given his hitting coach a break and not brought this up. But I don't consider it a big deal, just a "cute" story crediting the wife. If you have no sense of humor at all it makes the hitting coach look bad tho.
  20. I bet there are thousands of seats up there sat in maybe 4-5 games a season: 2 Cub games; Yankee, Bosox. Prolly vacant 95 percent of the time.
  21. Deep Thoughts ... back when I watched snl. I finally gave up this season; haven't watched one episode. Too political for me and non funny. Hmmm I finally gave up on SNL after debating it. Total divorce. Sox better watch it. Fans may totally divorce themselves soon from this franchise.
  22. Jerry and the investors were in love with then Royals Stadium, Kauffman Stadium. The top deck in KC is too steep. Sox wanted a simple park like Royals Stadium and built one. It was an atrocity with wrong colored seats, blue, my gawd and that horrendous top deck like Kauffman. If the Sox actually had a good organization and a bright future (looks like it'll be 10 years before team hits .500 if they ever figure out modern baseball; not sure they ever will) they would build a palace in suburbia. Chicago is dead. Get it out by Arlington, go in with the Bears, get it done. Only hope for a new Sox Park would be if the Bears combine forces.
  23. Good post about nostalgia. Thing is when we finally do give up we'll never come back. Sox fandom is engrained in many of us. Mine is leaving though. for instance this is the first year in forever I haven't had a favorite player and/or manager. Prior to this is was Abreu, Konerko, Thomas, Oz, etc. Now I have only neutral to negative feelings about each of the guys. Not one player I truly enjoy. Robert and Burger are close to being likeable for me tho.
  24. I guess his approach caught up with him. Don't know how he's gonna make it swinging at every pitch. When he connects though, BOOM. Not sure what u can do. I'm assuming none of these all or nothing hitters can be coached. They have their swing angle down pat and it's either a homer or K. Of course if u swing at every pitch 80 to 90 percent of the time it's K. I'd say he's destined to fail cause pitchers prolly have stopped throwing him anything close to a strike that he can punish.
