  1. If they did it again there'd be the exact same result. Probably worse. I'm thinking it'd be a really really bad night.
  2. i know managers don't matter but Pedro deserves way more than a 3 percent vote. My guess is he is somewhere between Bevington and the old LaRussa. Bring back Renteria and apologize to him for dumping him.
  3. Can this guy get anybody out? He gonna start with the big league club?
  4. The reason I brought up Ozzie now is Sox have a first-year manager and if we all agree Pedro is a disaster you have to replace him. It'd be inappropriate to name one of his Stooge assistants so that leaves Oz or AJP as interim the rest of the season. Or Stone. And I figure Oz is best. If he does well and appears to behave himself, hire him in October for next year; one year deals.
  5. They had to pay the Royals cash for this guy? Wow. KC must really need some cash for the petty cash drawer.
  6. I disagree. Ozzie is kind of Chicago or nothing. Other cities don't get him. He doesn't fit in other cities. Like him or not, Ozzie is Mr .White Sox. He was a joyful player for the Sox for many years. You never hear about him loafing as a player. His players seemed to like him too. Sox used to be a likeable team when he was skipper. I wonder why.
  7. Don't see what making him interim would hurt. Except Pedro is probably making a good dollar and that'd be some money down the drain. And Ozzie would want some good money to manage for a couple months.
  8. Not fair assessment. If what this thread says is true that guys like Moncada and Eloy have quit on the organization (Timmy plays with no 'joy' either IMO, then you need Ozzie to come in and do what Ozzie does. Just cause he quit with 9 days left in the season when he was gonna get fired or move on in 9 days anyway, doesn't change that he's a good manager. This team needs a forceful manager and also some veterans who command a bit of respect (even Abreu seemed kinda passive in his last year regarding waking up some dormant to dead teammates). Sox need Ozzie (as interim rest of season) and they need a few vets who deeply care (Konerkos, Fisks). Maybe there are no players who truly care anymore to acquire.
  9. I don't know if it was a great return in all the trades when our team has been pathetic following the trades.
  10. I am envisioning something like a 7-1 loss in Game One. Would be typical Sox. We shall see.
  11. I can't believe he got hurt in the HR Derby. Tightness in calf or whatever. That's the type of injury he's had before when he pulls up hustling out slow rollers.
  12. The baseball gods must hate the Sox. Robert gets hurt -- awful news. And the Sox happen to open the second half against the Braves? One big LOL. Can you say sweep? That sweep should assure more bad chemistry and zombielike baseball for the rest of the month.
  13. It sure seems like now would be the time for Jerry to move the team if he ever wished to do so. I doubt there'd even be much uproar. Everything the team does is blah or inconsequential.
  14. That's a really good crowd. Probably a good bunch of Cardinals fans too i'd guess.
  15. There will be no more real no hitters: One pitcher getting the job done. They shouldn't mob the relief pitcher who finishes a no hitter. That is stupid IMO. Analytics has pitchers' arms falling off after 103 pitches.
  16. 15 under .500 is not a recipe for second half success El Rockin. Look up "lousy' in the dictionary and u see the 2023 Sox roster. Team is not gonna contend. In fact a three-game sweep by Atlanta is likely comin.
  17. Now that's a 'bad team' loss. No runs at home in July against a lousy team. 15 under .500? One or two likeable players? Yeah it's probably the worst team the south side has had in a long long time. Today's MLB LOL. ... Detroit pitched a no hitter today ... with 3 pitchers. Big deal. This sport is void of drama cause of analytics. Good job analysts, ruining a sport in so many ways.
  18. Yes the Sox pitching staff is poorly constructed for modern baseball. Starters going 5 1/3 innings max doesn't work with a team with OK (sometimes) but mostly ineffective bullpen. And the lineup is also poorly constructed for modern baseball. Yes Sox have 3-4 guys productive with the HR ball but everybody else is an abject failure at launch angle including Timmy. Why can't the Sox figure it out they have it all wrong. I hate openers but the way the Sox are constructed, they should be using 8-9 starters who go 2 innings max. Unless Sox can get starters who can go 7 like the old days, I'd prefer two innings apiece with 4-5 pitchers a game. Let Cease go 2 several times a week, ditto the other "openers." Do u all agree with me the Sox are ill equipped for modern MLB and that's a huge concern?
  19. Were there any boos when we were down 5-0? Nice comeback win. Robert and Burger, what can u say? When they make contact, boom. Sox do have a handful of good players. What's with that, Pedro?
  20. It makes me so mad the Sox did a full rebuild. This organization right now has as dismal a future as any time I can remember. Just as in 2005 after winning it all it looked like the future was bright as ever. So sad. So many players worth nothing via trade value right now. I have no idea what Sox management should do. If anybody wants them I'd trade Moncada, Grandal, Lopez, Gio, Middleton asap. Nobody is gonna want Kelly, Andrus or Middleton however. That's a start. Hahn must have a plan to get out of this mess which looks like a long time before Sox are winning again,
  21. I think I'd keep Eloy too. I stand by my earlier post: Keep Robert, Burger, Eloy, Vaughn and Sheets cause they have possible home run futures and the game is all about HRs. Get rid of everybody else including all the pitchers. If you have to trade one "prospect" to get a batch of good stuff I guess Eloy. Remember Timmy should go and he could bring some good players maybe.
  22. That relief pitcher didn't mess around. Didn't care if they hit deep fly balls. Just keep it in the park. Scouting report doesn't speak well for Sox hitters. Not much respect there just throwing it over the plate and having the 3 fly out. Pathetic doubleheader. Nice hire, White Sox. Pedro really is a special manager. Geez get rid of him.
  23. Two quick outs, lol. Pathetic. Make that 3 quick outs.
  24. Can u imagine a Leyland or somebody like that, a Weaver or Lasorda managing Timmy? It wouldn't be pretty. Too bad Tim can't enjoy playing a kid's game for adult salaries. He makes baseball appear drudgery.
  25. Yeah he's doing OK. He was phenomenal today. Prolly should deal him ASAP while he's cooking. Isn't he a couple burgers away from being Wilbur Wood-sized?
