  1. It really is a big game for Jackson. We could easily lose 3-4 to Baltimore on the road. A split would be dandy. It's up to him, really.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) Look at the numbers. The sample size is too small to make a definitive conclusion, but at the moment, Castro is hitting better then AJ. I'm not saying this will last, i'm just not worried. Fair enough. Tbolt usually is a reasonable poster IMO. There's been some posts in game threads coming perilously close to saying AJ's a bum. Should be interesting to see if those make it out of game threads into threads like this. AJ's a stud IMO. Not hitting particularly well this year, tho.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:55 AM) You remember how I said Friday's loss was unacceptable? This is why. Not because that loss killed us Friday, but because it killed us today. You've got to win the extremely favorable matchups when you have them, because you're going to lose games like this today. We win that game Friday night, today's loss still hurts, but not like it is right now. "You've got to win" doesn't make sense in baseball. Too many games. Too much s*** happens. It ain't like the Bears wetting the bed in an 18 game season or whatever they play in the NFL. s*** happens in baseball. We are a mediocre to decent team. We don't win all the games "we're supposed to win." There are no, "you've got to win" games this season regarding the Chicago White Sox. The team is what it is. A nice little team, nothing more, nothing too much less. Are you really surprised Baltimore on its home field is giving our team fits? I'm not.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) I'll say this much...I give more credit to Greg Walker for this shocking turnaround than Ozzie f***ing Guillen. WOW. Tell us what you really think bout Oz. Wow. Some of you guys that hate Oz never seem to come up with a guy you'd like as his replacement. Who do you want? Do you really think any mortal would survive the second guessing of Sox fans? How's BA faring as a pitcher? Anybody know?
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) They didn't need to waste any of the money they used on those terrible veteran players, such as Ankiel and Jason Kendall. Did I mention anything about Yuniesky Betancourt? Yeah, the reason fans here in KC (and Zack) are confused and again pissed is the Royals indicated they would have a mixture of veteran players to go with youth so they could be contending. Remmeber they've signed those guys you mentioned as well as Meche and Jose "One of the Most Disgraceful players in KC history" Guillen. As well as one of my faves, Pods, instead of just playing a young guy this year. They had indicated one plan, now it's changed. ... again. I haven't read Dayton's response to Zack if there's been one, but kudos to Zack for speaking out. I didn't read if Zack thanked the Royals for being patient with him when he was mentally checking out a few seasons ago. The Royals should have his respect forever for helping him out there.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) But Hudson and a pennant race you don't want? Balta had some great posts in this thread IMO. I think we overpaid for a salary dump player, but hopefully Jackson will continue to do well. He did pretty well in that first start for us.
  7. QUOTE (BearingPro @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) The WS have come back to earth...it's going to be a battle to determine the victim of the Yankees or Jays...Adam Dunn we need you now! One thing is for sure. The Twins will have no chance against the Yankees. If they win the division, they'll do what they normally do in the playoffs. Suck.
  8. That's what I've been saying. Negativity always wins. And don't worry milkman, with your suggestion people just leave if they don't like the direction of the board. As the great badger indicated, don't worry, that is happening already. Thanks for your support.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) The Sox would have to be up on the Twins by 5 games at this point for this board to be content. In other words, the expectations many have here are extremely unrealistic. I'm just enjoying the season. My expectations really aren't that high. I believe the Twins have a better team. I'm hoping for the best while enjoying baseball. I'm not trying to convince anybody to be positive. Do what you want. It's just a message board. I'm just glad I'm learning to post less and not read the game threads. Posting/reading is kind of addictive. I'll try to enjoy the board here and there. GO SOX!
  10. Great. You haven't a noticed in a drop in posts on here, except the same simplistic arguments about Kotsay and Jenks and Ozzie's lineups? Negativity wins out, but negativity ultimately sucks.
  11. You can defend the negativity all you want. But a negative environment in any walk of life, even a rather harmless message board community, grows very old. My opinion is ultimately a thorougly negative environment is not a place people want to be. The board is much more negative than last year and I've noticed a drop in threads and posts that do anything but complain. I've stopped reading the game threads at least. Hope I can continue to keep my eyes away from those or at least not post in them. GO SOX!!
  12. The day I kick a chair when I watch a baseball game is the day I stop. It's sport. It's fun. Let Rios run!
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 07:13 AM) Even though Ozzie drives me crazy, I love him. That being said, he did tell the team that half of them would be gone by June in April & May. I just wonder how many Ozzie detractors listen to his pregame quotes and read the articles. He always has a good reason for the things he does. I don't see how any sports fan who listens to the guy cannot love him. He's what makes sports fun. Not a dull company man who speaks corporate-ese. He f***ing speaks his mind. He's fricking hilarious. He's the antithesis of an ass kisser. I love the guy as well.
  14. Seems simple enough to me. Bobby gets paid his millions whether he's pitching or not. It's no slap in the face when you are set for life as he is. Putz got the save tonight. In a closer by committee he should continue on until he blows one. I agree with your sentence: PLAY THE HOT HAND. Why not? If they make the playoffs and WS it's more money for all the players so they should all be for it.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 04:38 AM) Let's just put it this way: we're winning despite his lineups... I prefer to think of it as we are winning because the players that he puts on the field every day are playing very well -- with part of the reason the players are playing well -- is the Chicago White Sox have an excellent manager who did not give up on his team when said players were playing like bums in April and May.
  16. Jenks has been good at times (even if some fans refuse to believe it) bad at times this season. If Putz is hot, go with him a while. Bobby still gets paid. It's not like they are withholding his millions of dollars. I'd let Putz close, quite frankly, til he blows one. If Bobby does have a bad back, the time off won't hurt him. Closer by committee should not be an evil saying in baseball. For some reason, it is.
  17. Funny quote in the Trib notes about tonight's game. ... Guillen asked about Sox not getting Delgado ... “To sign Delgado here, I would rather have Jim Thome,” Guillen said. It didn't add any further context, but figured it'd spark some wild reax on the message boards since Oz didn't want Big Jim last winter.
  18. I made my point. I'll move on. Not.Worth.It.
  19. I'll start looking for that. As for production, I'll take 2-for-3 with a RBI from my catcher EVERY GAME. EVERY ONE.
  20. He goes 2-for-3 tonight with a Ribbie and gets hurt and catches grief on here. Amazing. Uh oh. I'm sensing a Jenks-like swing in people's opinions of AJ on here. Will it get to the point people freak when his name is in the lineup instead of Castros on a daily basis?
  21. AJ got a key hit tonight. I don't know what you guys think you see in his play that is so ominous in terms of his "loafing." Did he not stroke a key hit??? His batting average is low so he's been pouting for months? I didn't see the play but I've seen no mention anywhere in the game stories where AJ did something cocky or loafed so badly on the play he got hurt he was called out for it. You guys see things the baseball writers and broadcasters do not see.
  22. The AP story says Bobby has a bad back. Believe it or not at your discretion. That's what it says. I just want whomever closes to get the save. Quotes of interest: On Bob: “Bobby’s got a bad back,” Guillen said. “The way Bobby’s been throwing, we’ve got options out there. We have to wait to put Bobby back in the closer rotation.” On Rios: Before the game, Guillen offered this explanation of why Rios didn’t play on Friday night: “He’s got a sore everything. The thing that was sore was his bat.” AJ on his own ankle: “I’ll be fine. It’s just a sprained ankle,” he said. “I could have stayed in the game, but they wanted me to get out and put ice on it.”
  23. Great win. Clutch hits by Rios, AJ, Carlos. Great pitching. Hope AJP (ankle) and Bobby (back) are OK. Nice to beat a lousy team after falling behind 2-0. Nothing is certain on the road. Nice comeback win.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 02:18 AM) Aj is an idiot and he finally got burned during his antics. I don't feel bad for him at all. Just read through the game thread since I had to work tonight. Thought it was a good thread overall. This post was a classic in the "no class" department. I always feel for guys who get hurt. Injuries suck.
  25. True, Squert. It's like Ozzie feels he needs to play him every day. Sucks but I'm convinced he's playing every day against righties the rest of the way.
