  1. That describes perfectly what I feel Nix is. I'm not crazy bout Nix as a starter, but as you said he's a decent bench guy. If he is our starter, we're in trouble.
  2. Yankees really spanked the Angels tonight. Pretty impressive. But we were just as dominant or moreso the year we won it. So I wouldn't say they have a dynasty brewing yet.
  3. I just don't see Liney bringing anything of value. Why not dump his salary for a hack (reclamatiion project) hopefully for less money. I really don't get why baseball teams overpay these middle reliever guys (Farnsworth, Dotel, Liney, etc.)
  4. Glad to see the Angels hit the gapper, score the run and make this a series. Go Angels!
  5. I'm not an expert, but I'd think so or hope so. I can't imagine anybody offering him more than that considering the fact his career was over til it was resurrected here. He's kind of a different case in that he seems to only play well for us.
  6. This has been asked before, but why would this guy leave the Angels? Would we really offer him much more than Anaheim?
  7. I find it hard to believe anybody would take on Liney's contract. If somebody would, I'd be all for dealing him, but not for a problem child. Maybe another bad middle reliever. Liney for somebody else's hack would be fine with me.
  8. How come many can live with what we pay s***ty middle relievers and can't live with three mill for Pods?

What has Nix done to impress you enough to want this? Nix hit some bombs but IMO is a utility guy only. Say what you want about Pods, he had a great season. I wouldn't bet on a similar year next year, but if healthy he MIGHT be able to duplicate it.
  10. Why would Danks and Floyd be ahead of Mark? Peavy yes. Those other 2 guys have not passed Mark just yet.
  11. Good point Knight. Like LaRussa and Lasorda. They had cups of coffee in the bigs I believe. Big Hurt would be a popular choice and our fans would love it. Like I said though, he's probably too proud and too rich to consider it. And I didn't know if Oz hated him or not.
  12. Does anybody know if Oz hates Big Hurt? Big Hurt would satisfy the worst critics as our hitting coach. He drew walks as a player, didn't he learn from Hriniak? He had a great approach, great swing. Of course he's probably too rich to want to work again, but some ballplayers like to sit in a dugout and get out of the house. Big Hurt for hitting coach??
  13. Didn't Punto hit .228? He's not exactly valuable. Crede was more valuable.
  14. Good point. They probably told him exactly what treatment he needed at the local rehab place. I figured from Bobby's quote he thought it was a more synister motive of the Sox, but you are probably right. Bob sounds like he speaks his mind when reporters ask him stuff.
  15. Strange they didn't want him on the road trib to have professionals on the team staff treat him. Maybe it is a sign he gawn. Or do they save pittance of money by leaving him home?
  16. Is he always going to be bumped and bruised the way he crowds the plate and a.) will continue to get plunked over and over and b.) the way he hammers that ball off his lower leg all the time fouling pitches off his body? I like CQ a lot, but wow, terrible luck health wise.
  17. My guess is if one of us posters had made this post we'd have been eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. How come everybody's so quiet in responding?
  18. Very true JPN; the Twinks were so overmatched. Yet think of all the times we played them and the Sox seemed to overmatched or at least guaranteed to lose in the dome. Crazy.
  19. If the Sox are out of it in July in our cruddy division, people will want heads to roll. It will be ugly.
  20. Man, three and out for Minny. Our division gets owned in the playoffs for second year in row. Hope it demoralizes both Minny and Detroit for next year. Minny does all that work for a playoff flop; Detroit with the amazing choke job. Time for us to rule and make some noise in the playoffs.
  21. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 04:23 AM) I would love to have him back in the organization if he's interested in a career AFTER baseball, but not on this team as a player next year. At least he's used to a reduced role in only pinch hitting for LA. I can't imagine us giving him the usual 500 at bats if we sign him. I wonder who out there we would target for lefthanded power besides Jimmy. I wouldn't mind moving in a different direction at DH for change sake. Or if Jimmy wants to sign on the cheap, fine.
  22. Wow, that is about it. I also like Thome and would like him back; like Oz, don't blame Walker too much but wouldn't object if he was canned, am all for Freddy but don't want him to get fat, not crazy about Torres, want to upgrade from Castro as backup, hate the results of that 10 game road trip, not crazy about Getz but don't hate him, love Beckham and admit I panicked when he struggled early, don't want Bradley on our team, think KW is OK even though I didn't like losing Richard, don't like Randy Williams or most Royals relievers, respect AJP and Paulie, still think KW acquired Rios with ideas of winning it this year as well as the future, like Peavy's mound presence and just wish he could have pitched sooner, love Buehrle and Bobby.
  23. I just don't see value in a post berating another poster. Whatever.
