  1. Great point. Put yourself in his shoes. His answer was great.
  2. He does maybe come across as smug, but the fan was being a total ass. At some point you have to show some passion and stand up for Crede, a guy who helped us win the title. Thank goodness the internet wasn't crazed when Fisk was sucking his final year with the Sox. Fans like the clown who Kenny owned would have blasted Fisk as well when he couldn't catch the ball anymore.
  3. Way to put that stupid ass fan in his place. I mean my god, we win a World Series for the first time in 10 zillion years partly because of Joe f***ing Crede and some moron gets up and cracks some stupid pun about getting rid of Crede and his being a "pain in the back." Good job KW. How soon some of us fans forget.
  4. Very true. On paper, we are a contender again this season. We'll see what happens with injuries, our big boppers and the bullpen.
  5. There are a lotta good free agents out there still. Do you guys think that in a normal economy we'd be sitting pretty right now? We'd have added Garland and Hudson and maybe Rodriguez to be back up catcher? We'd have maybe added a few pitchers? Is it the economy, stupid that has held us back? I mean I'm interested in trying out Getz, etc., but shouldn't we have picked up Garland, Hudson (maybe even Durham), Byrd, Kerry Wood, etc?
  6. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing BA get a chance to thrill us defensively the whole season as a starter in cf. Even if he hit .230 it wouldn't kill us if the other pieces of our lineup, the veteran boppers, do what they are supposed to do. I didn't mean to say Wise was a phenom. Given a choice I'd rather give it to BA because at least we know he's going to be a stud on defense.
  7. This actually doesn't sound bad. Wise is a decent player.
  8. There's no substitute for hard work and he apparently is putting it in. On the flip side you always hear about guys showing improvement when the bright lights aren't on. Sometimes you either can do it or you can't. I can't imagine Josh improving that much as a fielder as this stage of his life. Hope he proves me wrong.
  9. What's Berry look like up close and personal? I always thought she was a classic beauty.
  10. It would be interesting to know what Mark, Thome, AJ, Dye and Paulie truly think of Oz. I would think if those guys told the truth you'd get a good read on what kind of a guy he is to play for. They seem to be pretty standup stud guys. Oz got his way in getting rid of some of the deadweight he disliked. He has a lot of power but it all comes down to wins. I could see KW wanting to can him if we are horrible this year, but he always will have Jerry in his corner. The question is, has he reached LaRussa status? Where how the team fares does not matter in terms of him keeping his job. Or would a horrid first half get him axed?
  11. Dodgers sound about right. I wish we'd sign him. He'd be a nice inning replacement for Vas and he's a better big game pitcher. We'd have 2 veterans added to go with Mark and the two young studs. We'd have some other young guys for mid relief or to battle for starts as well.
  12. Good OC, cause you provided me with one of the worst moments in baseball when you acted up against the DRays and of course struck out after your fit. I like having a manager that the prima donnas hate. Oz rocks.
  13. Regarding the true one and only Pudge, our Pudge ... he was awesome of course. I loved everything about his stint with the Sox. I also think it's kind of neat that he refused to quit til they tore the jersey off his back. Remember when he couldn't catch the ball any more? Pitches were just flying by him. He couldn't see anymore. I can't recall if the announcers would comment on it or not. I don't know if Hawk ignored it or not. It was sad. But I respect Pudge's stance on the matter. He wasn't gonna leave the game of baseball I'm sure for both the total love of the game and the fat paycheck. In his era I wouldn't discount the love of the game.
  14. You can't think that way; you just can't. Sure he might get hurt. He could get hurt tonight.
  15. I wonder why KW doesn't sign Jon for a year or two.
  16. I can't believe people would wait in line all night for autographs. To people who love autographs I am wondering, what do you do with them? Sell or keep? Not flaming, just wondering. I've never been an autograph guy.
  17. Interesting. The key then is Konerko and Thome and Dye and AJ to be very good to go with the still developing Lexi and CQ and Getz, Owens; those bullpen Jeckyll-Hydes to get their fricking act together and excel. There will have to be more a contribution from others because you are probably right about Floyd. We still have a lot of big name everyday lineup baseball players. I'm a little worried about our D. I guess we'll know in spring training if Lexi and Fields will be decent on the left side.
  18. Unfortunately untl they move out of the dome, I give the title to the Twins. 1.) Minn in a runaway 2.) Detroit. 3. Cleveland. 4.) Sox 5.Royals Could change if we sign Dunn or another starter.
  19. You guys worry too much. Let 'em play. Spring training is too long anyway. My feeling is in baseball the teams with the best players and the ones who play hard win. All the other stuff is crap. We have a manager who will make them care and play hard. I don't think we have the best players right now. So we ain't gonna win the pennant as it stands now. Enjoy seeing our guys in this stupid tournament.
  20. Thanks for the Colon optimism. Why don't the Sox people get hold of him now and start running him. He can't be a fatso and win.
  21. I admit our rotation looks a lot better to me with a veteran as No. 4 starter. Tell me ... can Colon pitch? Are you folks hopeful? My other queston mark is Betemit. Again are you folks hopeful? The lineup could go either way. It seems to me it's all on CQ and Lexi. We pretty much know what we are gonna get out of the big boppers. Can CQ and Lexi carry the club? Maybe.
  22. Garland is not terrible. People tend to rate the players they see everyday way lower than ones they never see like f***ing Oliver Perez. I wish we could get Jon back. I realize it aint happening though.
  23. I like the lost weight news. Sometimes though guys show up and look like they always did.
  24. Dye is a big boy. It takes him a while to get going when motoring in for shallow flies and toward the line. But he's no disaster out there. If we make no moves I'd rather see BA in center than Owens. And CQ in left. Fields at third, Young at ss (trade them prospects), Lexi at second and Paul at first. AJ catcher with no decent backup (that could haunt us if durable AJ goes down). Thome DH. Trust our bullpen as is to bounce back. Mark, Floyd, Danks and pray for rain on the hill. p.s. Please sign Garland and Dunn.
  25. I can't understand why KW hasn't moved one of our vet slow guys yet. Except for the no trade clause stuff. Now is the time to change the makeup of our everyday 9 a bit, and I don't mean just having Getz at second and Owens/Brian in cf. On paper, we don't look like a contender that is for sure. Unless our bullpen really really rallies. I mean if Danks, Floyd and Mark are unstoppable and our bullpen is great for once I guess we could surprise. I'd feel better if we had added one inning eater starter, take our chances with our current bullpen and add a stud center fielder and either a good third baseman or second baseman.
