  1. For me ... it's dumb to chant "Fire Tony" and act all hot and bothered when the Sox could have rallied to win and everybody would rock the place with cheers. Sure the fans pay their money and can do what they want to a certain extent but cmon. Do we have to be like the fans in Major League? Hawk supports Tony BTW.
  2. My heart won't break if Sox fire Tony. But as you point out, cmon, this bullpen blows. Sox are going to have to come up with a pitching plan in the future cause they have had some really bad bullpens.
  3. Ugh. This saddens me our fans stooped this low. Why? To chant just that is ridiculous. Sure Tony is having a bad year, but cmon. You don't chant Fire Hahn or Sell the Team Jerry? To boo Tony like that is to imply he's the problem. Really? How bout a pathetic bullpen? How bout a lineup that most of the year has had four to five automatic outs. Whose fault is it Moncada is hitting .130 and before he got hurt today Grandal also is hitting under .200. And Harrison? It is total classless to chant that. Boos are fine, but singling out Tony IMO is very very dumb and reflects poorly on Sox fans. Did the media ask about it? Sure it's a tough question but if everybody noticed Tony and Jerry must face the music and comment on the fans chanting negative stuff about Tony. Just my take. Boos are OK (though I don't like them either) but not chants. ... And another thing. When you chant stuff like that and what if the Sox rallied to win? Then you cheer? Really makes a fan look spoiled and dumb. Boooooooo, then what if Sox get a walkoff .... Yay!!!! Stick with your team, folks.
  4. This is why I want to innovate and have a setup of 9 or so starters. Have two starters per game pitch. Then go with a setup and closer. I've said before Sox aren't equipped right now for modern baseball. Starters going five will not cut it with this rotten bullpen. Pitch 4-6 bullpen guys a game ... no good. Now have one starter go four, another go four and we might have a fighting chance. I despise modern baseball. Oh for the days a guy could pitch 8 or so.
  5. Sox bullpen is a huge reason this team is going nowhere. It's a very poor group of pitchers. Closer is good tho.
  6. I can accept your post as good solid discussion. I'll ponder it some more before responding.
  7. Ugh. Chants like that are no good. They show a lack of class. The whole stadium chanting "Fire Tony" for a .500 team with injuries and the fact he's an old guy is kind of classless. If you are kidding my bad. Just let it play out.
  8. Nice win . Didn't see it. I have a question. Stoney in the highlight wrap on mlb was praising Grandal and Moncada. I look at the box Moncada was 1-4 with no RBI. What did he do that was so great?
  9. Poor Sheets. From fairly hot prospect to being about done. Baseball, whether old style which some of us loved, or this new crap, remains the same. Ultimately it is a cruel game.
  10. I dunno, Bosses make awful decisions all the time. The GM, who has no choice, can either accept the ridiculous decision of the boss and continue to make huge dollars himself for his family, or he can quit. Quitting would make the GM feel good internally for a day, but would not help him get another job anytime soon and would harm his family unless he's saved a lot of money for situations like this. ... You weigh the pros and cons and if the boss' decision angers you so much you need to get out, you look for another job but quitting IMO is not the right call.
  11. I'll give Jason B credit. He freaked out in peppering Stoney with questions about Tony's dumb move. I wonder how the radio guys handled the call. But in this day and age of announcers backing the home team in all situations, Jason B deserves credit for freaking out about Tony's move. Stone to his credit answered Jason's questions without going off. I say "to Stone's credit," only because Stone would have made national news had he torn into Tony. Jason asked why Tony would do that and Stone had an answer of why Tony did it. Pros all around. Jason B an A-plus for having the guts to immediately question the ridiculous move; Stone an A-plus for not being a homer but also not making himself the story. Wow.
  12. Are we allowed to comment on posts like this? I think I'll pass or once again I'll be responsible for shutting down a thread eventually. I'll just say if Tony gets replaced and they go with a Sox guy, to pick AJP over Ozzie would be really really baseball dumb.
  13. I wouldn't call us apologists. We recognize he's won three World Series titles and is one of the most accomplished managers of all time. Yeah he's getting old. That's not his fault. The walking a guy on 1-2 ... he should never live that one down however. Benetti really was grilling Stoney and Stoney answered the questions with short answers. Jason: "How often do you see that 1-2?" Stone: "Doesn't happen often."
  14. my bad; wrong thread
  15. Harrison's batting style is not conducive to hitting a fastball. Please dump him.
  16. What a terrible swing on the high fastball. Keep your eye on the ball and hit it. ... OK 96 is pretty fast.
  17. 110 pitches in 4 2/3 for Cease I see? Ouch. That had to be painful to watch. Nice 8th inning so far. Sox can win maybe.
  18. The bottom line is this guy is the president at a time gas prices are highest in history. He said the buck would stop with him. All I hear are excuses. People aren't dumb and are going to vote so many leftists out of office it'll make your head spin. This is the USA and people aren't dumb. Whether they want the gas hikes to force everybody to get electric cars sooner than planned or the leaders simply don't care we're hurting at the pump ... or that we believe it's Putin's fault lol, one thing is certain: this president is in office now and doesn't seem to give a bleep about the little guy/gal and lots of them elected him. Their revenge is coming in November. p.s. if the guy acted like he cared an iota about how we are hurting at the pump and in line at the automatic check out in the grocery store I might be able to support the guy. All he does is huff and puff and yell about Trump and rightists. Again ... people aren't dumb and Joe's gonna find that out in November, Tex. Do u agree??
  19. He's not old yet. He has a "name." Change of scenery time. Sox would have to pay some of the contract obviously or send a lot of money in the deal.
  20. That's why I enjoy the wins when they come. The losses have been oh, so pathetic. Four hits in the summer is one big LOL.
  21. Just tuned in. Bats dead again. How is Moncada only hitting .138? Change of scenery time for him. Commit to Burger at third, either move Moncada to second where his bat won't matter as much (Harrison is just as bad) or trade Moncada for 3 prospects, one a first-rounder.

Good ol fashioned summer fun in Chicago. It's why if you live in certain cities you must carry. https://patch.com/illinois/beverly-mtgreenwood/2-armed-robberies-reported-mt-greenwood-witnesses-describe-teens?utm_term=article-slot-1&utm_source=newsletter-daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter
  23. Nice win. Season is so long. Hopefully team is on an uptick in June and July. They've been OK months in the past for the better Sox teams.
  24. I hear you Spumoni, it's not my place to say but I'd humbly suggest to lighten up. Sure Sox games are crucial to our overall mood as fans, but they won the game. Your posts seem a little wacky sometimes. Again, the Sox won. So what if they almost choked it away. Try to enjoy the wins. They drive me crazy, too and I didn't watch the game live. As a fan I shook my head and laughed at them almost blowing it, yet I watched the highlights and was happy. Peace to you. Hope u can enjoy the wins the rest of the way. If not that's fine, too. Just my two cents.
