  1. I wish gas prices were lower. My wallet is hurting badly.
  2. There are a ton of reasons the Sox are mediocre to poor team. But it sure helps when the lift and pull brigade shows up. Robert, Eloy, Vaughn. The Cell is built for home runs. If Eloy and Robert were to stay healthy all year and hit a normal amount of HRs for them and TA bashed his 25 or so and Jose heated up to 30 or so and Grandal stayed healthy and hit a bundle of em and of course Moncada and Sheets, the Sox would be in much better shape. Yes I detest hit and pull MLB as it's become but since it's here the Sox need to stick to the formula if they want to win Central Division games. Lift and pull to 3-4 homers a game and get the starters to go six minimum, 6 2/3 if possible so the blah bullpen can cover 3 innings max instead of 4. Yes the HRs were nice tonight. 3 of em.
  3. Just keep Abreu and dump some other guys. It's not that difficult. It'd be typical 2022 maneuver to get rid of the one guy on the team who cares the most and still is a decent player. Just treat him as untouchable and build from there.
  4. The Sox officially are an embarrassment. They get throttled again by Minnie, lose again to another Central Division team and give up down six runs. I wonder if Ozzie will call out Tony on the postgame. Stoney and Jason weren't appalled at giving up down six. There's no reason to pay big league prices to see a game on the south side the rest of the year. Go to a minor league game. Oh wait ... many minor league teams have started charging hefty prices as well. Either trade everybody or just tell the public the rest of this season is to evaluate players with many trades coming this offseson. At least admit it's over for 2022. This team can't win division games and is the most unlikeable team all of us true fans can remember.
  5. Why in the devil would you concede the game? Oops, this should be the fireable offense. Six runs down and you give up? Wow. This is unprecedented. The reporters should look it up. Is this the lowest run differential in history in which a manager put in a position player to pitch?? I'm serious. Six runs might be unprecedented. Elias?
  6. Not sure why you want the team to stand pat. I guess cause you prolly don't trust Hahn to make the deals.
  7. I wonder if 100 fans stuck around.
  8. I know the Sox are flirting with .500 but they are sellers. Also, Tony, who I still like and respect (cept for his legal problems), should resign after this series. Why prevent new blood from getting a managing job? Tony can just say he gave it a shot but it's pretty obvious the team is not going to be whole all season cause of injuries and he's not doing a good job with the guys he didn't expect to be playing. Maybe the new manager can squeeze another inning out of the Sox starters and figure a way to play .500 ball (team's ceiling) in a more entertaining fashion at least. This Sox team isn't fun. Start making the changes to make it fun. Team should be sellers and be willing to make a significant trade or three. Keep Robert and Vaughn, Tim and Eloy and make it clear everybody else is expendable including a starting pitcher or two. Start the rebuild without Tony. Not sure if Hahn should be the one to make the trades. Maybe some interim GM or even Kenny.

I actually have a GOOD friend who lives downtown who was going to run for mayor against Lori L next election. He looked into it extensively. He decided not to because he is single, very rich financially and figures his views are so conservative he fears the media might taken him down very very harshly. He was sort of a wild child in college and stories could come out (nothing illegal or anything just wild behavior). So he ain't running. A lot of my views stem from talking to him a lot and reading the mt. greenwood patch and anything Chicago related that doesn't require a subscription. I've also shared my nephew works down there as a firefighter and i have brother in suburbia, sister in suburbia, brother in suburbia and some cousins remaining in Chicago, others have moved to Nashville, Zona and texas so far. I love my city. It's still my city cause I was born in Christ Hospital and lived there for a signiicant no. of years. Peace.
  10. I feel sorry for him. He's an old man. Time marches on. It does not stand still as much as we'd like it to sometimes. True he makes a lot of money but he's one old fella.
  11. That does say a lot. I used to like Moncada as a ballplayer. I love Jose A. but it'd be OK with me for him to get traded to a contender. I like Vaughn, Sheets and Burger but wouldn't cry over a deal. ... I like Cease and our other 5-6 inning starters but don't care if they are dealt. Not one reliever would sadden me if they get dealt. I think fathom hit it on the head. You know this team blows when it has no must-keep players except maybe Timmy A and Robert. Tmmy is still fairly special. And maybe Vaughn and Sheets and Burger. Burger's defense is always going to be meh. Though when the ball gets juiced the next season he may bash Horner-like HR totals.
  12. Questions or outline of questions that should be asked but won't be. ... -- TA didn't run on the final K of the game. Why? No way he'd be safe? Frustrated? -- Triple play. Really? How does dat happen? -- Joe Kelly? Uh why was he so miserable tonight? -- Play vs. the Central. Why are the Sox so bad vs the Central. I realize most of these questions can't be asked. I'm just frustrated with myself for thinking Sox might get hot still and win this lousy division.
  13. Yeah, it's kind of a bad look. His at bat was so pathetic he couldn't bring himself to run. I'll forgive him. He had an embarrassingly awful at bat there and wasn't gonna beat any throw or tag.
  14. Sox lost. Who cares. They are who they are. I'll admit I still feel good the nights they win, but they blow chunks especially against the Central. They constantly get owned.
  15. Timmy needs to try to lift and pull one out. Why not? No need to move the line, just lift it up and pull.
  16. You guys can rip me all you want or say it's hyperbole. Yeah I'm pissed at Kelly walking people and throwing BP that inning. Must be nice in this day and age to be a totally mediocre at best reliever and make the kind of cash he makes. My gosh some of these players are stealing money figuratively speaking. Joe Kelly ... geez you ain't gonna win anything of note with him as one of your bullpen studs. Nice acquisition Sox scouts and Hahn and Tony.
  17. I haven't watched the game til now. So I'll just laugh and say Kelly is mediocre to lousy, like the Sox team. Enjoy the wins, baby; deal with the losses. Dis team is a .500 unit at best for many reasons.

Nationwide problem. Not about me. We've gone from my childhood when summers consisted of being released from our house by parents in the morning with kids and parents having no cell phones -- being out on the streets and parks unsupervised with buddies all day, only returning home on our bikes for meals (thanks mom!) and then heading out again til dark -- in beautiful south side chitown. No kidnappings, no shootings, no stabbings. Just nirvana childhood fun to now where you can't go to a parade without being concerned. Peace to all affected by the two incidents I linked today and Happy holiday to all! It is a great holiday, one of the most fun if u like hotdogs, burgers and fireworks.

Heartbreaking. Go to a parade and bullets fly at the start of the celebration. Kind of speechless. Best wishes and prayers for those who are victims of the shooter. Anybody attend the Highland Park parade? https://patch.com/illinois/beverly-mtgreenwood/s/ibe7b/mass-shooting-several-shot-at-highland-park-parade-witnesses-say?utm_source=alert-breakingnews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=alert And just heard about this mass shooting in Chicago. Terrifying what's going on. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/teen-17-among-5-wounded-in-mass-shooting-in-chicagos-parkway-gardens/2872706/
  20. 17 hits was really nice. It seems like when the Sox win, the automatic outs in the lineup like Harrison and Leury do OK. Is Zavala the real deal? Would help if he keeps hitting .300.
  21. Going with the pitch can be a novel concept. Ballplayers might all want to try this if they don't want to hit .220. I like Sheets' 3-run double to left.

I wish the superintendent would make radical statements after a tragic shooting like this in Chicago. Like, "we challenge the DA to actually charge this gunman with first-degree murder." If this guy gets a light sentence the police should just all move on to new professions. Life's too short. My prayers go to this officer and his family. I can't imagine being related to a police officer right now. So dangerous. https://patch.com/illinois/beverly-mtgreenwood/s/ibaf1/chicago-police-officer-ambushed-on-citys-near-west-side-police?utm_term=article-slot-1&utm_source=newsletter-daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter
  23. Nice win again. Congrats Tony and the Sox on winning this series. On the glass half full side of things ... as lousy as the Sox hitters have been, there is 'still' a pitching rotation on paper that conceivably could lead this team to a division title. Yes I'd like the starters to go deeper, but the starters for the most part are 'contender' quality. I personally think the bullpen blows but Kelly and Graveman and today's lefty sometimes are acceptable to decent. And our closer is good when he gets back. What I'm saying is, pitching and defense (I realize we suck on defense) as it always does could dictate whether the Sox decide to play well enuf to 'contend.' ... And of course the team has to start competing better in divisional games.
  24. He's definitely not lifting and pulling it over the fence and blasting HRs to center as in the past. He's actually had some good games though and gotten some big hits for this rotten team.
