Sox have plenty of time to reverse the negativity of a horrid season. Nobody will remember the bad days if they take off from here. Sox didn't hit any homers but thank u Cueto for going eight like the old days of baseball. Pitching 4-5 guys against the Stros is a formula for disaster. They'll hit one or two of the army of relievers. Jose is a hit machine the second half (knock on wood). And I'll say it again. If Pollock keeps this up, it really helps the Sox attack. Would really be nice for this team to copy those old Oakland A's teams, bad clubhouse but talent prevails in the end. Not saying Sox will keep winning: injury bug ain't going anywhere and team still doesn't hit well and has a suspect bullpen. But it's POSSIBLE baby.

Sox are a microcosm of the business world. A CEO would never ever fire a buddy a second time. The first time was probably only OK'ed cause it was 40 years ago and the two hadn't developed that long relationship yet. TLR would have to start costing Jerry a lot of money before he'd actually boot him from the 'family.' Once you could tie loss of a lot of $$ to Tony, then and only then would it be bye bye.

I'm such a sap but I feel good after that series. Pitching was promising. And the Sox finally have learned how to beat a Central team, Detroit. Finally. What got me happy is Pollock is starting to hit a bit better. It's pretty simple. Some of the Sox automatic outs can really spark this team if they start hitting. I do think Sox will remain crap team on the road. But I am a sap and hopeful we can somehow win this horsecrap division. Sox probably won't but what the heck.

Rasumussen is good on pitch count and has a perfect game going in the 8th. Somehow he's fine on pitch count, not at 80 in 8th.

Yes you could take Cease out in the third inning in the future. Cause he goes all out, strikes out five of six. No runs. Then you go on to the next 2 inning guy. You set the rotation and Cease can come back in a day or two ,not five. It'll happen IMO. Baseball is in trouble. Analytics will figure it out regarding the use of openers, etc.

One more inning wouldn't have mattered. No way he coulda gone 9 and kept it under 100 pitches. The sport is to blame on this one not elderly TLR.

Yeah, injuries bring a different reaction now that's for sure. I agree with the above poster. Injuries are expected now at least by me. Baseball sure has a host of problems and injuries continues to be one of them. There's absolutely no reason to go to a game anymore in person, except to enjoy a beautiful evening outside. The sport is too flawed to care about deeply anymore.

The season from hell. Injuries. Never ending. I don't think any of us are confident the parade of injuries will suddenly stop next season.

Modern baseball should be ashamed of itself. Why can't a guy throw as many pitches as needed to attain a no hitter? Combined no hitters should not even be celebrated. One pitcher throws a no hitter? That's time to rejoice. Too bad we will see very very few in the future. Maybe none. No manager will risk pitching a guy more than the 90-100 pitches especially if a guy has had surgery before. Oh for the good ol days of baseball.

Normally I'm for the going with the pitch drilling singles. But I do concede not lifting and pulling home runs has hurt this club. Even though the bullpen blows and the starters don't go deep nuff in games, a lift and pull HR offense would probably have been good nuff to get Sox in the playoffs. Division reeks.

The right thing to do woulda been to wait a couple weeks after the postseason disappointment faded and keep Renteria. He definitely would have done better than Tony and at least the team woulda played hard for him. Tony experiment didn't work. Too old a guy. It happens.

One big LOL. In August when the games supposedly matter Sox lose 3 of 4 to KC. I know ... injuries. At this point the team has had so many injuries I blame that on the team more than luck. Not so sure Sox traning staff is very good.

That's awful story of travel. Nowadays when u fly somewhere you almost have to pack for two extra days minimum cause of the delays/cancellations. The airlines are a complete mess.

Sports aren't life and death. As bad as the team is and as frustrating it is to follow them, it's a break from all things going on in America and in the world that could get me banned if I mention them. So what if we don't completely give up on the team. It's OK to monitor your favorite team since childhood and see what the final tally of this season's ineptitude will be in terms of Ws and Ls. In other words don't feel sorry for us. We are not dumb in terms of thinking they'll make the playoffs, we just like sports.
