  1. Yes you could take Cease out in the third inning in the future. Cause he goes all out, strikes out five of six. No runs. Then you go on to the next 2 inning guy. You set the rotation and Cease can come back in a day or two ,not five. It'll happen IMO. Baseball is in trouble. Analytics will figure it out regarding the use of openers, etc.
  2. One more inning wouldn't have mattered. No way he coulda gone 9 and kept it under 100 pitches. The sport is to blame on this one not elderly TLR.
  3. Yeah, injuries bring a different reaction now that's for sure. I agree with the above poster. Injuries are expected now at least by me. Baseball sure has a host of problems and injuries continues to be one of them. There's absolutely no reason to go to a game anymore in person, except to enjoy a beautiful evening outside. The sport is too flawed to care about deeply anymore.
  4. The season from hell. Injuries. Never ending. I don't think any of us are confident the parade of injuries will suddenly stop next season.
  5. Nice win. Great win. But it's sad that the no hitter is the latest fun thing to become extinct in baseball. The Hall of Fame is gonna be mighty quiet in the future. I firmly believe we're headed to two innings max for starters in the near future. 2-2-2-2 and the closer.
  6. Modern baseball should be ashamed of itself. Why can't a guy throw as many pitches as needed to attain a no hitter? Combined no hitters should not even be celebrated. One pitcher throws a no hitter? That's time to rejoice. Too bad we will see very very few in the future. Maybe none. No manager will risk pitching a guy more than the 90-100 pitches especially if a guy has had surgery before. Oh for the good ol days of baseball.
  7. Normally I'm for the going with the pitch drilling singles. But I do concede not lifting and pulling home runs has hurt this club. Even though the bullpen blows and the starters don't go deep nuff in games, a lift and pull HR offense would probably have been good nuff to get Sox in the playoffs. Division reeks.
  8. I guess. But Eloy and Robert don't always run hard cause they know what will happen if they do. Also Moncada appears to go half speed prolly for the same reason. And Timmy being hurt is a killer, that goes without saying. But I hear u. Your assertion is correct.
  9. The right thing to do woulda been to wait a couple weeks after the postseason disappointment faded and keep Renteria. He definitely would have done better than Tony and at least the team woulda played hard for him. Tony experiment didn't work. Too old a guy. It happens.
  10. One big LOL. In August when the games supposedly matter Sox lose 3 of 4 to KC. I know ... injuries. At this point the team has had so many injuries I blame that on the team more than luck. Not so sure Sox traning staff is very good.
  11. Has Tony seen enuf? Maybe he's staying for the money. Good chunk of cash going to his bank account at 77. He's too old to read social media anyway. Cha ching for Tony's bank account is why he's staying thru this disaster. He coulda started collecting social security 15 years ago for gosh sakes. Way to add to your estate, Tony.
  12. Boy the Sox stink. Should be a fireable offense just to have a losing record vs. the Royals. All those rookies, was it six of nine in the lineup, beat the Sox Wednesday. Only hope is this sadsack team somehow wins the division and then feels so little pressure it finds itself. Odds of that are very slim.

That's awful story of travel. Nowadays when u fly somewhere you almost have to pack for two extra days minimum cause of the delays/cancellations. The airlines are a complete mess.
  14. Gladly I was wrong. Sox split the DH. Can u imagine the Royals being .500 vs. the Sox this season with the payrolls so different? Sox should be ashamed at how badly they traditionally play vs. the Central. It's a team effort: players, coaches, manager, advance scouts, scouts.
  15. Let him play. Sox actually need what he potentially can bring at the plate. Can't afford to have an instant out taking TA's projected at bats. If Sosa is a natural born hitter at age 22 Sox may have a spark. Worst that can happen is his BA is Grandal-like.
  16. I used to get so mad when Sox tanked vs. the Royals. Now not a hint of emotion. I mean I can be dumb but I'm not that dumb. This team has more holes than a golf course.
  17. Sports aren't life and death. As bad as the team is and as frustrating it is to follow them, it's a break from all things going on in America and in the world that could get me banned if I mention them. So what if we don't completely give up on the team. It's OK to monitor your favorite team since childhood and see what the final tally of this season's ineptitude will be in terms of Ws and Ls. In other words don't feel sorry for us. We are not dumb in terms of thinking they'll make the playoffs, we just like sports.
  18. Just play whatever young guys we have. Team has been toast a long time and this solidifies team's status as lousy. Best wishes to TA. Injuries suck.
  19. Sorry to have to predict this: Sox lose two today. Sox do not beat Central teams on a regular basis. Game One to be one of the smallest crowds in KCR history I predict. If they actually count the fans maybe 1000 in the ballpark I predict.
  20. Has TA always been lazy? That's disappointing. Maybe he knows the team blows and it's a natural reax to loaf on routine plays, in terms of running hard, etc.
  21. That was what we expected to happen, Dunning mowing down the Sox. This ballclub continues to stink.
  22. I would never sign a pitcher to a long term deal anymore. Starters that go past five are becoming extinct. In 2-3 years there will be two inning limits basically with relievers going the entire game. Four relievers two innings each plus the closer. No pitcher will be worth unlimited millions of dollars. Pitchers are gonna be like second basemen, a dime a dozen. Just my take. Also pitchers are gonna continue to get hurt, which is part of the reason they'll all be two-inning wonders. Good luck to hitters facing those fresh arms coming at em with guns blazing (fastballs to go with the out pitch in the dirt) the entire game. As far as everyday hitters, a GM has rocks for brains if ever giving out a deal that spans more than 3 seasons. Signing a guy for 8-10 years is just stupid in this day and age.
  23. I guess those of us who value pitching and defense should be elated with this win.
  24. Good job by Liam. He and Cease are by far the Sox two best players IMO.
