  1. Agreed. Sox are the same as they have been all year, .500 is the ceiling. Now can the team possibly have one amazing month, get hot and shred .500? Maybe but highly doubtful. Don't forget just a couple weeks ago Sox lost 4 of 5 to KC counting that funky one gamer in KC. Then Sox woke up and took 2 of 3 from woeful KC at the Cell and finally had a good week under Miguel. I'm all for getting hot for a month, riding the momentum teams usually get when they get rid of a horrible manager.
  2. Good memory. When Elvis hit that granny, I had completely forgotten about what u mention here. My reax was laughter and I thought 'Minnesota gets whatever the Sox can give them here. You put in a position player, too bad, lift and pull time.' What Tony did to Yermin really is indefensible. Why is baseball's unwritten rulebook so stupid in some instances? Is it really an unwritten rule you have to make an out when the other team puts in a position player? Makes me sick if Elvis did something 'wrong' there by homering off some guy lobbing the ball into his wheelhouse. Tony should be ashamed of himself.
  3. I hope when the Sox get a popular hire people scrutinize that guy's moves in games. Most managers in a close game can be second guessed about 2-3 things minimum in a close loss.

Gambling is legal in Kansas now. Which company or two should I go with? Is it safe to give them your CC info? Most of the companies are giving free 200 worth of bets to get started to get one to sign up.
  5. Tough loss. Reminder Sox are quite flawed. Definitely gonna need help from Twinks and Guardians in terms of having a bad month if Sox are gonna win the puke division. Oh well one day happy one despondent. Sox have done that to us this year so I don't feel that bad being a fair weather fickle fan this year.
  6. Sorry to make it a Br Rice thread but I'm a lifelong fan what can I say? ... Was disappointed in the Rita outcome. I forget how BR has done against Rita the past few seasons of the BB era but I think we won regularly over Rita. I watched the Week One game and thought the defense looked good. Are u equally disappointed Harry or is Rita special?

    Glad u are OK.
  8. Great win. Cease is so good. Hahn acquired him so there's that in Rick's corner. Well you Tony haters were right. Sox are a different team without elderly Tony. (I wish him good health of course). So as Sox fans at the stadium tonight (what a great crowd) we posters should go all-in again until they let us down if they do. There's reason to believe it's a new team without Tony. This team is capable of playing good baseball the rest of the way. I won't even mention one negative thing tonight. Cmon Sox. Without Tony you are a different team. These guys have a chance to discover how winning is actually fun and Sox fans will cheer a winning team that tries hard. I'm not saying Sox will keep winning but "once again" for the zillionth time we fans should at least give them yet another chance. GREAT WIN tonight and again, this is what the Sox 'should' do against pathetic Central teams.
  9. Sox are four out in the loss column. Still a monumental task for a team that STILL is right at .500. With Tony gone the team has a chance but not a good chance. Four in the loss column is a lot especially for a .500 team.
  10. I disagree. Ballplayers aren't like fans (captain obvious). They realize the second guessing of managerial decisions is basically dumb fan stuff. Except for walking guys with 1-2 counts, which probably made the players shake their heads and laugh inside more than get mad), managers pretty much are all the same. Players are 100 percent different from fans. I would think they love Tony. I'm sorry but you have to dig deep inside. Any second guessing any of us do may make us feel better on here but would make managers laugh their butts off. That's why Stone gets in trouble on twitter blasting people who say 'fan type' stuff. And that's why players probably love Tony.
  11. You deserve credit for optimism. Lynn's ERA is 4.75 I think. He's another guy who needs to move on at the age of 35. Sox are 5 games back which are way too many on Sept. 1. The team would have to awaken and win a boatload of games the final month to take the division. I wonder if Hahn has a plan for next year and the future. You'd think he should build around Tim, Eloy, Robert, Abreu, Cease, Kopech and Vaughn and do what it takes to get way better players around them. Only problem there is because of injuries u can't count on Robert, Eloy or Tim. It really is time to give it to another GM unless Hahn has a plan that makes sense. Team has a lot of work to do to become a contender. ... His quest to start the offseason would be to find a way to get rid of Moncada for starters as well as Grandal, Harrison and Pollock.
  12. Sox are gonna finally beat the Royals. Nice. Kind of a boring game, though, like most of 'em.
  13. Agree to disagree. I worship Abreu in a baseball sense and want him to stay.
  14. Winning organizations don't think that way IMO. Pay the guy some significant $$. He's earned it. ... Maybe he'll want to sign elsewhere after such a disappointing season (not for him but the team). I'm sure a contender will find room for him at 1B if they are smart.
  15. Not attacking you just making a point. I can't believe how many people still hate on Abreu. Why the heck would you let the best player on the team, the one guy who cares, walk? This team of underachieving stiffs (in a baseball sense) has so many guys who need to be kicked out the door. Abreu is not one of them. Right now you definitely get rid of Grandal, Moncada, Harrison, Pollock, Andrus and most of the pitchers. Get rid of them and then we can talk. Play Abreu at first; split DH time between Sheets and Vaughn. Let Eloy play left (stress to him it'd be nice if he goes to Arizona and works on his fielding with college teams out there this winter), Robert center, and find a good fielding rightfielder somewhere.
  16. Oh boy. Can't wait. Not mad at the messenger but I'm no Grandal fan.
  17. Can you believe how bad this Sox team is? I mean seriously. What a pathetic baseball club really in all phases. This team has no strengths.
  18. I really think you are wrong. I don't think the Sox would go there lying about a guy's health. I know teams lie and politicians lie and all that, but that's bad karma to lie about a guy's health. That said my opinion is Tony is done. Life is too short and we'll be hearing his retirement soon. The team blows, there's lot of pressure on Tony. I feel for him. I know he got that second DUI and is kind of mean and all that, but cmon let's all show compassion. Get well Tony! And I stand my prediction. he's done as a manager.
  19. Any sports team that moves to Portland right now is insane. Businesses are moving OUT not into that goshforsaken place.
  20. No way it's an hour to Woodridge from The Cell after a normal night game. Cmon. Only way I could see that is if you can't get out of the lots for 20 minutes, which mght be possible I guess if that's what u mean. The 1:20 hour drive to the game is a deal breaker though. I would never do that. Add a 4 hour game that's 5 hours and 20 minutes. There will come a time nobody's gonna go to games, probably when the Boomers hit 80 years old or 75 maybe. Today's TV technology makes it unacceptable to take 1:20 to get to the park.
  21. Thank God! But thumbs down to baseball making me watch all these awful Central teams so many times the last many years. ... And guess what? I'm predicting we bomb vs KC again this week. Sox team looks dead of late.
  22. I appreciate your post. I read it all. It's worth discussion that's for sure. Your sentence: "You should have a real fear that we are seeing the final years of the Sox in Chicago. I do," makes me stop and pause. OK, yes at least we have a team and we should be thankful it's here. I don't think a new owner would move it. I may be naive but the Sox are still very very valuable $$ wise according to Forbes. As far as being thankful with what we have, I agree that's a healthy attitude. However this year is a misnomer, it's anti Sox. I can never (hyperbole I guess) remember a Sox team I've disliked more than this one. Granted some of it has to do with the fact baseball won't let its starting pitchers develop personlities by going more than 5 2/3 or 5 1/3 innings. It's taken away the fun of pitching. It's just horrible watching the parade of relievers. Also the shift is maddening and disgusting and the dead ball this year very very annoying. And the Sox lack of hustle and appearing to care and all the injuries make this season a misnomer for Sox fans used to GOOD HARD baseball at least. In other words ... I can't just be thankful we have a team. Not because of the disgusting product that has made me so mad as a Sox fan this year. (I don't think Sox are moving anytime soon).
  23. Baseball makes me so mad. More games vs KC. How could anybody in their right mind pay good money for all these games against Central teams? My gosh, it's boring and there's no purpose to playing these teams all these times. Thank God it's changing finally next year. I tell u fans can be smarter than commissioners and owners. I've been complaining about this for years! Does anybody out there actually like playing divisional teams 19 frickin times? The only people who probably like it are families of players like the Masseys who can watch their kid play KC in Chicago a zillion times then make the short trip to KC where there are no fans at the games and they can spread out and watch their kid some more. Sox vs KC. Let me say it ... who cares who wins tonight. They've played this act too many times already!!!
  24. I figured with the Bears gonzo to Arlington, LL cannot afford to lose the Cubs, Sox or Blackhawks to Arlington. So when everything changes with new GM, new manager, hopefully new owner, why not a new baseball palace at Soldier Field? p.s. I don't follow baseball that closely anymore except for the Sox. My Q is: With the Sox current roster as is ... let's say the roster could stay completely healthy thru the entire season, let's say they have 2-3 players out 2 weeks each and that's it. Could that Sox roster catch fire, say, next year and win the AL? Is a healthy Sox roster with no changes capable of winning it all? I'm assuming in this day and age other teams might have just as many holes.
