  1. I think it's the injuries that have prevented firings. Season has been one long injury report. Though this walking guys with 1-2 counts are fireable offenses coupled with this .500 record IMO. Tony is insane to walk guys who have 1-2 counts.
  2. Did he really walk another guy on 1-2? I love Tony but if so, he's truly lost it. Totally. Look in modern baseball, 1-2 is soooooo near a K. All u gotta do at that point is bury one and the batter breezes at it. Tony knows this. U just can't walk guys intentionally with 1-2 counts. Cmon. I fear Tony truly may need an exam at 77.
  3. That's just insane, Another MRI at the very least. If he is really hurt, geez, you have to say it's never going to get better. He and Robert certainly get hurt too much.
  4. I didn't watch tonight; what happened to Eloy? p.s. Why didn't the Sox draft homegrown mike massey. KC took him 4th round, He looks like a guy (unlike madrigal) who might hold down a position for many many years. Seems to make contact and have a clue.
  5. Looks like the bullpen stunk tonight which it will do time to time in this modern era. Do any teams have 3-4 reliable relievers they use night after night like the old Royals formula of having a guy for the 7th, 8th and 9th when they won it all? I'm assuming the Sox are one of many teams with lousy bullpens in this era. I'd be a happy camper if the Sox had starters who could go 7 solid innings per start. I feel better using just 2 relievers per game. Sox aren't gonna beat anybody (on most nights) when they have to use multiple relievers.
  6. Analytics probably. Or not wanting to anger the veteran most likely. I'd be pissed if I got four hits and had to sit.

This is why you should never make plans to go to a baseball game until the day before the game. After blowing the chance to win yesterday's game, you just knew the Astros would mop up to tie the series in the day game right after the night game. Pity to those who paid regular prices to watch that in the Cell. Frankly if the Sox win the division, that's the type of game we'll be seeing in the playoffs. As we've said a million times, this team is sooooo flawed.
  8. Looking at his career and his stats the last two years with A's .... Elvis appears to be a wretched hitter. This is a move the Sox didn't need to make. Harrison also is woefully bad. However ... baseball is full of bad hitters and if Elvis is OK on defense which u folks say he is, I guess it's an OK acquisition in trying to win the weak division. Time flies. I remember when Elvis first started and was the rage. The Sox front office recognizes the loss of Timmy is too much to overcome with the current roster. So they are trying something with Elvis.
  9. That was the Sox chance right there. Both veterans failed big time. Grandal was just a horrible acquisition and Pollock ... whatever on him. Personally I don't like him but last time I ripped him on here I got buried. Some fans like him.
  10. The Royals suck too. Can u believe the Sox lost 3 of 4 to KC most recently and you just know they'll lose that funky make up game to make it four of five which is simply ridiculous.
  11. Not great. No big hits late. Lot of bad at bats IMO. I know the guy late had a good fastball but some typically lousy at bats. Would be very nice to win 3 of 4; I'm not expecting it tho.
  12. Good call. I still remember my second grade teacher Ms. Landis cause she was hot. Perfect 10 as they say. Something about 2nd grade.
  13. Well I've done my fair share of hating. So I'll give credit to the club. Some good baseball as the summer blazes on. GO SOX. Good job fans.
  14. Liam u did a nice job, congrats! Sox competing hard thus 2-0 this series. Good crowd. They are helping the team!
  15. Thing is. Fans of modern baseball (not saying u are, I don't know) can't call for the bunt from guys who can't bunt. The advance stat people don't want bunts anyhow. Yaz can't bunt. Case closed. One out baby!
  16. To be fair, the haters have had plenty of reasons to hate. And they're still here so they are still fans. We haters still want to win. And we'll give credit where it's due if Sox win. I do love me some Abreu. Another 3-hit game? Those who hated on him need to agree he's not finished. He's just a notoriously slow starter.
  17. You would think so but it's not cool to bunt ya know? So guys can't bunt. ... Hail to Moncada, though. Nice single.
  18. Nice job again Moncada. That one fan is awesome. He gets to cheer his ass off two nights in a row. The guy with Konerko jersey.
  19. How sad. Grandal can't bunt cause he is incapable of putting down a bunt so the HIGHLY PREDICTABLE double play. Weak sauce.
  20. Maybe the bad clubhouse atmosphere will help. This team might have a chip the rest of the way to prove people wrong and all that sports cliche jazz. Anybody else falling in love with Abreu again? This guy is quietly raking again. Over .300 for the traditional non-stat people. Multi hit games common. Love me some Abreu.
  21. This is so neat, It sure appears the fan got the word to Tony to pinch run. Amazing.
  22. Sox have plenty of time to reverse the negativity of a horrid season. Nobody will remember the bad days if they take off from here. Sox didn't hit any homers but thank u Cueto for going eight like the old days of baseball. Pitching 4-5 guys against the Stros is a formula for disaster. They'll hit one or two of the army of relievers. Jose is a hit machine the second half (knock on wood). And I'll say it again. If Pollock keeps this up, it really helps the Sox attack. Would really be nice for this team to copy those old Oakland A's teams, bad clubhouse but talent prevails in the end. Not saying Sox will keep winning: injury bug ain't going anywhere and team still doesn't hit well and has a suspect bullpen. But it's POSSIBLE baby.
  23. Sox are a microcosm of the business world. A CEO would never ever fire a buddy a second time. The first time was probably only OK'ed cause it was 40 years ago and the two hadn't developed that long relationship yet. TLR would have to start costing Jerry a lot of money before he'd actually boot him from the 'family.' Once you could tie loss of a lot of $$ to Tony, then and only then would it be bye bye.
  24. I'm such a sap but I feel good after that series. Pitching was promising. And the Sox finally have learned how to beat a Central team, Detroit. Finally. What got me happy is Pollock is starting to hit a bit better. It's pretty simple. Some of the Sox automatic outs can really spark this team if they start hitting. I do think Sox will remain crap team on the road. But I am a sap and hopeful we can somehow win this horsecrap division. Sox probably won't but what the heck.
  25. Rasumussen is good on pitch count and has a perfect game going in the 8th. Somehow he's fine on pitch count, not at 80 in 8th.
