White Sox vs. Orioles 8/23 6:05 CDT (Cease vs. Voth)
My man Jose had no chance against that high heat from the closer. This has been the least enjoyable season in memory. Another injury tonight. Another loss. Boy do the Sox reek.

Second Tier
Good post. I will say Jose has really shut up all the haters. His BA has been on a steady climb. He's at .313 now which is fifth in the AL. To those of you who hate BA stat now, phooey. Out of all the players in the AL, he's fifth in BA. Wonderful. He's also 50 in RBI, which is below his standards. I would love for those who buried Jose early in the. year to comment on this post and give Jose his props. He and Cease and Liam and Cueto are really the only positives this season along with Andrew V. Tim got hurt too much to be a highlight. The acquisitions of Harrison and Pollock and Kelly were abysmal. Really if the Sox had been smart they'd have traded their closer Liam to a contender at the break for 3 excellent prospects. That was the trade that should have been made. A Sox team going nowhere shoulda dumped the excellent closer for 3 stud prospects. Yankees or Mets? I also love Jose Abreu! He's a lock for White Sox team Hall of Fame. One world championship from a statue. Doesn't look like he'll get one. Team is too much of a mess. Too many holes to fill and poor coaching and scouting and training.

White Sox vs. Royals 8/22 1:10CDT (Kopech vs. Lynch)
Coulda won a lot of money betting the game today if u put enuf on it. It was obvious Sox were gonna lose. How do Tony and Hahn live with themselves when they assess Chicago's play and results against woeful KC this season?? It's truly unbelievable.

White Sox vs. Royals 8/22 1:10CDT (Kopech vs. Lynch)
I'm amazed at how bad Grandal is. I mean Karkovice was a better catcher/hitter than Grandal. The Sox need a do-over badly.

White Sox vs. Royals 8/22 1:10CDT (Kopech vs. Lynch)
Boy oh boy do the Sox stink. Lose 4 of 5 in a short span to one of the most blah Royals teams in team history. Just a ridiculously young bad team. As much as I love Tony, this is a disgrace and insult to Sox fans to keep the guy around. And Hahn? To sit there and not make changes (well, Elvis looked good today) and to think this bullpen was worth a damn and to not turn over tables to get the best possible medical staff ... it's just sad. Again do you realize how insulting it is to a fan who bought season tickets to spend this kind of cash on a team that loses 4 of 5 to KC including today's game with a crowd of less than 1,000 if they would tell the truth??? In many ways this is the most embarrassing loss of the season. Believe it.

Fire Everyone Thread/Rebuild Maybe?
Good organizations reload not rebuild and try to fool their fans. Tanking is for the weak. Just fire Hahn, all the coaches plus Tony. Beg Jerry to sell. Maybe with the Bears leaving the city, sox fan mayor would build a new stadium for the Sox downtown by Soldier Field. Definitely a good time for a new owner to come in and threaten to move the team if a new palace is not built. It would look very bad for LL if Bears and Sox leave. GRate field is OK for we diehards but not good nuff.

Thank you. Good stuff. I hope BR stays elite and doesn't turn into St, Laurence. I find a lot of topics interesting about BR obviously. I heard they were turning the baseball field around. Did anybody in the neighborhood ever complain about foul balls pelting their cars and houses?

Fire Everyone Thread/Rebuild Maybe?
Sox obviously need a new GM and new coaching staff and new medical staff. That would probably be enough assuming Jerry won't sell the team. When season ends

White Sox vs. Guardians 8/21 11:05am CDT (Cease vs. Civale) [Peacock]
Can u imagine if the Sox lose (which they well, bank it) that's losing 4 of the last 5 in Kauffman over the last 10 days or so. And nobody gets fired. There's so much wrong with losing 4 of 5 to KC. My gosh this team/franchise is a joke (if they lose Monday and it's four of five).

That Fargo scene is priceless. The wife on the right is great. And the car buyer when he calls Lundegaard a liar is just precious a scene. This is an underrated scene in movie history. That Lundegaard character, who ultimately gets his, is a loser scumbag in trying to cheat the car buyer. And the car buyer gives in cause it's just not worth it to be around the sleazy salesman any more. The William Gacy character is such a troubled loser. What a special movie! p.s. When the Lundegaard guy asks the car dealer owner if he has tickets for him for the Wisconsin game what a moment when the dealer is like, for you? Ha."

Harry. ... what's the verdict on Rice's new coach, Casey Quedenfeld? Do people at least like him as he begins his tenure as coach? Does he seem like a nice competent guy? Does he fit in the rugged South side? It's a crazy experiment bringing in a former Texas h.s. assistant and assistant at Loyola High in LA to be head coach in the Catholic League. ... It looked like Rice had reached elite status for years to come under Badke. He seemed to know how to bring in top talent from the area to attend Rice. I hope Casey has consulted Badke on how to do this. Mt Carmel seems to be good every year; ditto Loyola. I was hoping Rice had reached that status. Are any top 25s out? Is Br. Rice ranked? Also what's the deal with coach Bobby Frasor? Why did he leave? Is something going on or did he want to make better cash somewhere? Again Rice was pretty damn amazing in his tenure. Who is replacing him?? Thanks Harry. I need to come back for a game.

Multiple Championships
Tony has done enuf dumb things in an injury-filled season he should be gone at the end of the season ... 17Ks and no walks??? My gosh. That coupled with a 2022 season body of work of horrific hitting means the hitting coach should be gone now or at the end of the season ... GM should be gone. Acquiring guys like Grandal and Harrison, the list is plentiful, shows the GM is not good. Scouts must be blah too. ... It's obvious the rebuild is a failure. Squad could catch lightning one year if the collection of relievers ever clicks. But Team is no better off than had it not tanked and tried to win the traditional way (free agents to go with draft picks and mabe one trade). ... Also owner should sell the team. His decision to hire elderly Tony shows he's not exactly contending for rocket scientist status.

Never hear anyone questioning this
Abreu sure had a nice Sox career. Definitely will go in the team's Hall of Fame. I had my doubts early in the season when he couldn't get over .240. He's been a hit machine and I've never hated his defense, although really early in the season I thought he wasn't digging as well as the past. Love me some Abreu. ... It's not his fault the team is loaded with DH types Sign him.

Eloy is dead. Again.
Sox should spend money wisely. And having THE BEST training staff and medical staff is vital for teams who traditionally do not offer players enuf cash to attract the best free agents. The fact the Sox have so many injuries is very very sad to witness as a fan. It makes u wonder if the trainers are excellent or not. Maybe they are fine. I hope so.

Unprecedented inaction?
I think it's the injuries that have prevented firings. Season has been one long injury report. Though this walking guys with 1-2 counts are fireable offenses coupled with this .500 record IMO. Tony is insane to walk guys who have 1-2 counts.

8/19 Gamethread: White Sox vs. The Artist Formerly Known As The I****ns, Lynn vs. McKenzie
Did he really walk another guy on 1-2? I love Tony but if so, he's truly lost it. Totally. Look in modern baseball, 1-2 is soooooo near a K. All u gotta do at that point is bury one and the batter breezes at it. Tony knows this. U just can't walk guys intentionally with 1-2 counts. Cmon. I fear Tony truly may need an exam at 77.

That's just insane, Another MRI at the very least. If he is really hurt, geez, you have to say it's never going to get better. He and Robert certainly get hurt too much.

I didn't watch tonight; what happened to Eloy? p.s. Why didn't the Sox draft homegrown mike massey. KC took him 4th round, He looks like a guy (unlike madrigal) who might hold down a position for many many years. Seems to make contact and have a clue.

8/19 Gamethread: White Sox vs. The Artist Formerly Known As The I****ns, Lynn vs. McKenzie
Looks like the bullpen stunk tonight which it will do time to time in this modern era. Do any teams have 3-4 reliable relievers they use night after night like the old Royals formula of having a guy for the 7th, 8th and 9th when they won it all? I'm assuming the Sox are one of many teams with lousy bullpens in this era. I'd be a happy camper if the Sox had starters who could go 7 solid innings per start. I feel better using just 2 relievers per game. Sox aren't gonna beat anybody (on most nights) when they have to use multiple relievers.

Analytics probably. Or not wanting to anger the veteran most likely. I'd be pissed if I got four hits and had to sit.

Great game
This is why you should never make plans to go to a baseball game until the day before the game. After blowing the chance to win yesterday's game, you just knew the Astros would mop up to tie the series in the day game right after the night game. Pity to those who paid regular prices to watch that in the Cell. Frankly if the Sox win the division, that's the type of game we'll be seeing in the playoffs. As we've said a million times, this team is sooooo flawed.

Per Passan, Elvis Andrus signing with White Sox, joining team in Cleveland
Looking at his career and his stats the last two years with A's .... Elvis appears to be a wretched hitter. This is a move the Sox didn't need to make. Harrison also is woefully bad. However ... baseball is full of bad hitters and if Elvis is OK on defense which u folks say he is, I guess it's an OK acquisition in trying to win the weak division. Time flies. I remember when Elvis first started and was the rage. The Sox front office recognizes the loss of Timmy is too much to overcome with the current roster. So they are trying something with Elvis.

08/17: Astros at Sox. 7:10, NBCSN
That was the Sox chance right there. Both veterans failed big time. Grandal was just a horrible acquisition and Pollock ... whatever on him. Personally I don't like him but last time I ripped him on here I got buried. Some fans like him.

08/17: Astros at Sox. 7:10, NBCSN
The Royals suck too. Can u believe the Sox lost 3 of 4 to KC most recently and you just know they'll lose that funky make up game to make it four of five which is simply ridiculous.
-
08/17: Astros at Sox. 7:10, NBCSN
Not great. No big hits late. Lot of bad at bats IMO. I know the guy late had a good fastball but some typically lousy at bats. Would be very nice to win 3 of 4; I'm not expecting it tho.
