I'd be OK with all of these rules regarding gun ownership. these rules in theory could help and I would vote for them. However devil's advocate would say there are so many assault weapons out there now that any nutjob killer will have no problem arming himself to commit atrocities. Black market guns will always be available. ... And gangs are laughing I'm sure. They have their guns and can get more and big city mayors have no intention of stopping gang murders. But I can agree to these rules you mentioned. The body armor/tactical helmets one is iffy cause Antifa members already have all that stuff and the regular citizen probably should have the right to be able to get that stuff too.

Texsox with a slam dunk/home run post. People need to be armed for zillions of reasons and Tex knows them.

Yeah, but a lot of things could happen before the government decided to blow up cities/neighborhoods which means it would be prudent to have some weapons. Thing is, it could get bad and people might need to defend themselves from roaming gangs if there are food shortages if the grid gets hit. The way things are going in society with all the violent crimes out there not being prosecuted, anything's possible once the grid gets hit and the economy completely crashes to great depression like status and the baby formula shortage turns into major shortages of all products which some people are suggestion could all happen at some point if this downward spiral continues ... The bottom line is with society in a downward trend concerning murder in big cities, those with guns are probably a smart lot of people for having them. ... I have no guns but I can see why some people do. Hell, I've even heard those commercials about buying food supplies that last years on legitimate radio shows. Used to be conspiracy theory stuff not shown on legit radio/TV.
  4. Good post. I don't see Sox doing much against teams in the division, though. Case in point Kansas City. One of the worst teams in Royals history and Sox have looked just as bad as KC in head to head matchups. This Sox team doesn't have it. Maybe if Tony stepped down and some young manager came aboard and the defense got better and .... ah forget it. Not gonna happen this year. Too many holes in the team.
  5. It's tough like peeps have said on here cause KW and Hahn probably blame this mess on Tony and they didn't want him. So they can't say anything about that. It's pretty apparent by now Tony is part of the problem. Although acquiring Harrison and Pollock alone should be enough to get Hahn fired.
  6. I love Eloy's attitude and obvious love for the game. It's a shame about his health.
  7. They should be sick about how bleak the future looks for this team, immediate future and down the line. The Sox 'strength' is starting pitching. If I were the Sox, assuming starters forevermore will only go 4 or 5 innings, I'd try to build a team with 9 starting pitchers. Try something unique like going with two starters per game every game. See if the two can get it to the ninth, then use the closer. It's time to build for the future as the team is abysmal right now. Hahn and KW need to figure a plan and Sox are not going to win anything with modern baseball the way it is today. Also if your are going to have a pathetic hitting team, get great defensive players who can't hit at every position. At least in my scenario sox will have pitching and defense down pat. KW and Hahn have to have some kind of plan for the future.

Like u wrote ... I support raising age to 21. Yes limit magazine sizes. Yes background checks. Don't think the advertising matters in the era of violent video games. I'd keep the assault weapons legal just in case things really get bad in society. It's already bad enough with home invasions and carjackings and random assaults on big city streets. If the government turns on the people, the people need weapons. If food shortages come or the Chinese hit our grid, gosh yes regular people may need weapons and a lot of 'em. Right now there's a war going on in Ukraine, the world is totally on edge. China is warning us to not interfere with whatever they do (Taiwan) in any way. The economy according to some is close to an historic collapse. WIthout guns, citizens could be in deep trouble someday. Concerns me cause I have no guns.
  9. This team officially stinks. Seven measly hits again; at least two were by the sensational Robert. Today it was Lopez who stunk. This team is not built for modern era baseball. The starter going five innings and relievers taking over the rest of the way is not going to work with this team. Too many bad to mediocre relievers. We all know about the lineup. It is what it is with the dead ball. It's anemic. Sox aren't hitting home runs in bunches at all. I don't think there's a solution. I just think we're the new Baltimore Orioles. A team going nowhere fast. My gosh do the Sox stink. I did assume this would happen without TA. The road record is going to be historically bad; should be close to .500 at home. Peace out.

The far left has made it clear. They want no guns. It's the latest topic in which they scream over everybody else. We must have guns cause anybody with a functioning brain does not trust the people in charge. Not trying to be political here, but does anybody really think the people in charge in chicago care if u get carjacked or home invaded? You must be armed in a perfect world. If they come after our guns in the USA there will be war. Nobody who has an arsenal down south is gonna give up their guns as well as other parts of the USA. FOR PROTECTION! Our officials are not protecting us people. This is all very sad but true. My friend in Dallas does not have a gun yet but all his pals do, he told me. They ain't turning them in.

The teachers must be armed in a perfect world. Paid training for use of guns. However if they refuse, that's OK, too. Try to get them an assistant who is armed.
  12. Jose gets a ton of respect from the opposing announcers.
  13. If I go into detail about why I think Chicago is a hellhole or certainly on the wrong track, it will derail the thread and close it quickly. My nephew is a firefighter in one of the worst crime ridden areas of the city and lives in the heart of the city. Tons of relatives in Illinois. Yes I have opinions which can't be shared here cause of rules. Forgive me if I think 'ok boomer' is not a proper response to a discussion.
  14. You think Chicago is on the right track as a city? You think the future is bright? Name calling is boring/unproductive. Discussion more interesting. I'd like to hear a billionaires' takes on Chicago being a good investment for a team owner right now personally.
  15. That's what I was thinking. Perhaps if the Bears move it will get voters willing to think long and hard about electing people like the current mayor and DA. I'm not saying Chicago is dead but it's very close. Taxes, crime. Of course the Sox and Bears should consider moves to the suburbs or another state. A complex like the Dallas Cowboys have or Arlington Rangers is meant for suburbia somewhere not the inner city. Not in this day and age.

I could see limiting the type of guns that can be sold to average citizens. No rapid fire machine gun gizmos that are in the news today. The problem with this ... the bad guys will get the rapid fire guns. They just will. Only way the good guys have a chance is to also own those guns and/or have 'em available. Blame the gangs folks. And fewer bad guys will be going to jail in the future cause of Soros DA's. Heaven help us all. At this rate in 20 years we're looking at a very very war torn USA. This summer is starting off so violently. Not just the normal 30 or so deaths per weekend in Chicago, but Tulsa had a mass shooting Wednesday at ahospital. They are in the news constantly now.
  17. Heck no. I despise tanking. There's a lot to be said that if you spend right (Sox don't) and you have a front office that knows what it's doing you don't need to tank. Sale did get hurt but a lot of people could have seen keeping him and seeing what happens. Ditto Quintana. Right now the Sox after the tank job are a team with a mediocre to bad pitching staff, horrific defense, bad speed on the basepaths and mediocre hitting. We do have (possible) superstars in Robert, Abreu, Eloy, Moncada, Grandal, Timmy, Cease, Kopech, Gio and our closer. If those who like tanking are satisfied cause of their presence, fine.
  18. Does anybody else cringe at the thought of Eloy returning soon? You just half expect the poor guy to go down in a heap any minute. The White Sox need to get Eloy with the BEST in the field of training for consultation. Seems to me a no brainer to pay up and pay some expert to keep Eloy healthy. Get a Second opinion so to speak. He needs some advice on how to avoid ripping muscles while running hard on the basepaths and making quick moves out of the box and in the outfield.
  19. Something is telling me this is a risky time to buy a baseball team (though there's no sign any potential owners would agree with greg here). With Covid still around and other potential diseases (remember Covid shut down the crowds), the demographic males over 50 and what declining interest could mean to future TV and streaming deals, I sure wouldn't touch a sports franchise. I'm surprised Jerry doesn't sell. Just give his kids the $$ after paying off the investors. The team blows; the stadium is nothing to write home about. Good luck to the next owner.
  20. The Sox bullpen (to me) has one reliable option. The closer. Graveman is not the answer at setup man. Bummer is just another guy. Sox bullpen blows IMO. I would assume most teams have bad bullpens as well. Lot of average arms out there.

If I'm not allowed to address this, delete my post. Without any comment, just answer the question pls. Elon Musk yay or nay? I'll go with Yay. Johnny Depp yay or nay? I'll go with Yay. Bill Maher yay or nay? I'll go with Yay And Howard Stern yay or nay? I'll go with yay. Peace mid week day.
  22. And they continue to be one of the worst franchises in never a sense of urgency. Gave another game away tonight with the ridiculous baserunning. Doesn't matter. No urgency. Who cares if they pissed away another game.
  23. Awful baserunning. Burger surprisingly only batter to not get a hit. 13 hits and five runs is laughable. That's a lot of hits. Wasted a great night from Vaughn. Sox are gonna lose a lotta games without Tim even though hits were aplenty tonight.
  24. Harrison has 3 RBI's all year. That's difficult to be this bad. Bring up some young guy. Why not? His production is so low it's as if Sox have eight hitters.
  25. Ptatc is there a 'high likelihood' Tim and Eloy will suffer the same injury upon return? Three weeks in this case means six, right?
