Boy that statement is 100 percent accurate! It's so true. That's what the postgame talk shows are for. After Game Two, Royals fans were livid about the balk. After Game One they were furious Grudz hit into the game ending DP instead of lofting a sacrifice fly and so many other things. Went to the game tonight. 14,000 paid attendance. I was hoping inwardly that somehow Mark could pitch a complete game 1-0 victory after Dye's mammoth bomb. But with the fabled pitch count approaching 110 you knew it wouldn't be a complete game in this day and age. Knowing Mark wouldn't pitch a complete game, I just had the feel things would go to hell which they did quickly in the 8th. Greinke and Mark were equally good. Ozzie said after the game every game in the series was a tough one and sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the opposing pitcher and team. I think the WAY all three games went, we were lucky to win 2 of 3. They were all close and all crazy games. It would have been nice to get the final six outs and the sweep. It makes you mad to see it go to hell like it did. But if we can keep winning series after series, we'll be right there.
  2. I'd like to see us keep winning and the Tigers get buried deeper as somebody else said. It'd be nice to take it one team at a time in burying.
  3. He's there every day. He has a good read on the clubhouse. He's a very good writer. If this was Hawk saying it everybody would believe it? People tend to hate print reporters for some reason and like the electronic guys. What's not to believe? Dye from all accounts is well liked; OC isn't. Why blame the writer? If Oz thinks the guy is wrong I'm sure we'll hear about it in some outburst soon. I believe the writer. He's good. Those ballots shouldn't be made public BTW and I don't know why he hates Canada. That one is baffling. Maybe he got mugged up there.
  4. The last 2 nights make up for some of our more horrible losses. They really do. We pulled both out of our ass. It'd be nice to play well in all aspects tomorrow and sweep 'em. Greinke throws heat. Hope Thome can read his fastball and deposit a couple. Might be a good day to rest Paulie and play Wise/Swish combo.
  5. Two in a row in KC that have been real fun. Can you imagine how the Royals feel blowing significant leads two nights in a row? And losing on a balk? OC and Alexei are quite the newcomer combo. Congrats to you who wanted Dotel to close. That's amazing stuff. 3 strikeouts? My god. It'd be nice to win going away tomorrow, but Greinke is damn good. So is Mark when he's Mark.
  6. Wow. I'll be at Game Three tomorrow. Hope I get to see the sweep. You gotta admit Oz has been doing a helluva job of late. OC, Thome, Carlos the amazing Quentin and Alexei, et. all. Wow. And Dotel. Congrats to you all who wanted him to close.
  7. I repeat; OC has been great lately. Dye should apologize over and over. I hated OC early; been so happy with him of late. I was wrong thinking he was a bust. DO NOT TRADE OC. Dye get ready to apologize you idiot.
  8. This game is so similar to last night's. Lots of intrigue. More to come.
  9. OC has been great lately. It'd be a shame if some teammate was giving him s*** about something. If it's Dye he should shut the f*** up.
  10. Ok, Dick you got me. Javy and Jose sucked the past 2 nights. They both were never going to be pulled after 2-3 innings. They are gonna go into the sixth. If they can't handle that and keep us in the game, they are worthless pieces of s***. I blame players. Some others blame managers.
  11. Yeah but he went five-plus. Same difference. He's never gonna get yanked in the third. Are we gonna rally and win this game? That would be amazing 2 nights in a row.
  12. Alexei is pretty damn amazing. What a free swinger. Is it true he has 3 walks all year? Cheers to Lexi.
  13. Veteran starters like Jose and Vazzy go six no matter what. Oz doesn't get anybody up. Period. The bullpen is quiet. If the veterans can't do the job, then we need to make a deal like Milwaukee did.
  14. OK, you would have pulled him in the third? That's insane. If he can't go five, six, then send him to the minors for rehab work.
  15. To all of you who wanted Vazzy out of the game. OK tell me, what inning would you have pulled him? He's a veteran and he sucked. But veteran starters in the big leagues go six no matter what.
  16. It's pretty simple. Ozzie demands six innings out of his veteran starters even if they suck. It's never going to change. I prefer to blame horses*** Vazzy. He's going to go six no matter what.
  17. Dye, Thome, Konerko, Crede ... hit tonight so we can pull off a comeback 12 inning win, pls.
  18. It's cause AJP caught almost two games last night. The predictable "rest" thing. This is all on Javy.
  19. Good point kyle. I forgot temporarily about Oz's fibbing tendencies. But I still don't know what you guys have against closer by committee. Would any of you mind on a given night Thornton taking the ninth if he breezes through the previous inning as he did last night? Or even Masset if he does the same? Committee baby.
  20. Why do you say Liney is done closing when Oz told the Sun Times writer that Liney is his guy? I think you could see anybody close, even Thornton if Oz has the gut feeling that night.
  21. Isn't this guy another former Royal reject pitcher?
  22. Nope. Just saying Sox need to play hard. Lotta lefties vs. Javy. I didn't say we can't win the close game again; I think it's gonna be close again. KC hasn't beaten us yet this year.
  23. 2004 is a long time ago. I'm not against oz trotting him out there if Oz thinks he is the man on a given night. I'm saying Oz in the paper said he has a reason for going with Linebrink over Dotel. Linebrink is on the plate; Dotel isn't, he said.
  24. I just read the Sun Times and Oz said he likes Linebrink because he's on the plate and Dotel isn't. I trust Oz on this one. He's going to have to go with his gut on a nightly basis and see what happens.
  25. But who is assured of being a good closer on this roster? It's a crapshoot. Committee sounds good to me right now. Oz is a good manager and has a good feel for the game. People get on him for things, but the few instances he has some speed on the bases (only chance is with Wise or Alexei) he puts things in motion. I trust Oz on this one. Committee baby with Linebrink deserving one more shot.
