Can you think of any other series in Chicago history bigger than this one? In regular season history, of course. And I'm not saying a series in which we clinch the division when we're up by 8 games. I mean a real, meaningful series. Considering two Chicago clubs are in first place and deservedly so ... I say this is the biggest series in Chicago regular season history. Couple of requests: Somebody who goes to all three games ... please keep track of all the fights in and outside of the park. Also to those Sox fans who normally don't go to Wrigley, please post things that annoy you about the park and let us know if it's as dirty as people claim.

It must have been great to be at The Cell today. I know we are supposed to sweep teams like Pitt, but it's baseball and anything can happen and usually does. So it's a great sweep. Last year we would not have swept them. So we go 4-2 against Colo and Pitt. That's not too bad. You'll win divisions doing that. It'd be nice to see OC get on base in the first and Quentin connect off Lilly boy tomorrow in the first. On paper, you gotta favor the veteran over Danks in Game One. GO SOX.

Hope Oz sticks with BA tomorrow despite the oh-fer, if Thome can't play. He might connect against the lefty. -
It was so important to get the sweep completed. Great job, White Sox hitters and bullpen. Our sweep solidifies our position as a real first place team entering the Flub series. Had we lost 2 of 3 to Pitt the series would have lacked lustre. Now it is the biggest regular season series in Chicago history. Name one bigger? I'm saying regular season series. We won the fricking WS while the Flub have no experience there. I really wish Thome could play tomorrow, Sat and Sunday. Folks, we're in trouble without Paulie and Thome vs. The Flub. I guess Oz will pick the right spot to bat Thome once per game. Hope he knows how to pinch hit. Wish he could play 1B tomorrow.

We're hosed w/out Thome and Paulie. Need that power threat vs. The Flubs. -

Hate to say this, but Thome is hot and needs to play against the Cubs. He needs to play 1B tomorrow. -

Time to make sure everybody gets an at bat and let up so we don't score all our runs today. Nice job of hitting, White Sox! Jermaine baby! -

Are you all worried about the resurgent Tigers? -

I didn't see the play, but we're really a station to station team under KW. -

At least Anderson looks like a big leaguer. He'll be OK once he's a regular somewhere. -

Will our bullpen outpitch theirs and win us this game? We may be done scoring. -
I can't argue with that. GO SOX.

You gotta love Mark B and Quentin. Also you got to love the nights we blast some home runs. When we hit home runs, we win.
-
Nice initial post. Congrats to Toby. Please keep it up. I wonder if he'll play against the lefty tomorrow again.

I would not be pleased to go 2-4 in the series. That would be lousy. 3-3 would be acceptable, though we'd lose ground to our red-hot Detroit rivals in doing so. I mean winning two of three at home and losing 2 of 3 at Wrigley is about the best we can hope for. 4-2 would be great. 5-1 awesome. We ain't gonna go 6-0. 0-6 would be a great big bummer and likely end our season.

Was it wise to bring up Wise?

I don't think making a statement matters much to the Sox. The team has a batch of veterans who probably remember last year's s*** pair of series vs. the Cubs. I think they've played enough games they are just games. Hopefully the weird Sox offense will compete.
-
Wow is right. I wish I could have seen this game on TV to make up for those 2-0 losses I seem to watch every time. Kudos to everybody. What hitting! Keep it up. But poor Carlos. Hope he feels good about his three walks, which he should. But still no hits from the slumping sensation.

I don't know bout that rangercal. It seems this year there's reason to have some concern about those hitters you mentioned. I don't think anybody's panicking. Those guys haven't produced for the most part. Dye's been pretty decent. I realize Swisher gets on base some, but his lack of hits has been disturbing. Thome and Konerko have been pretty lousy. Notice nobody's complaining about Carlos and AJP and Crede. Some of the big bats have sucked, hence the concern.

Detroit finally got beat. Good job Giants ... for once.
-
How bout Fields at second base and Alexei in center? Swish at first. Or just put Fields at first and see how bad he is over there? It doesn't take a star to play first, just ask Mark Teahan.
-
The Sox are in first place, which is good. Many of us long time Sox fans, however, are not excited at all. My question is ... are we too demanding on this team? Should we be elated at what's going on and our postseason chances? Or are we long-time, loyal Sox fans aware when we have a special team and when we do not, and we are correct in thinking this team is the worst first-place team imaginable? This team has had some really big flops in certain series. What is the verdict?? Should we be elated with our first-place White Sox and should we shut up about our horrid offense and streakiness??

If Carlos Quentin doesn't start getting two hits a night again and hitting gappers and homers, we are in deep s***. Five of six losses, lethargic play against the Rockies.
