  1. Frank ... you should be commended. Congratulations and give him the MVP from the year he got robbed by a Roider. That report is a joke. Obviously more players used steroids than got named. Name em all or name none.
  2. Frank Thomas should be written about by every major publication in the country. He should be the poster boy for what is right about baseball. His agent should get him on every TV show in the land. He would be Barry Bonds in terms of HR numbers had he used steroids. Frank is a hero.
  3. That's the only deal I could think of right now in which KW would be fleeced. Obviously like many said, he'd just move Fields to first base; Crede would play third and Rowand would be the new centerfielder. I could easily see KW making that trade.
  4. I have so little confidence in Kenny's ability to make trades it's ridiculous. I know some of you like the Garland deal because of the money Garland will want when he's a free agent, blah blah. But I just dread what he's going to get in return for Konerko. It scares me what he'll get in return for Paulie. Rowand and two minor leaguers who will never play in the bigs would not surprise me in the least bit.
  5. Sign Prior and trade him to the Angels with Haeger for Garland.
  6. I dunno. I was just horrified to see he's available. I also don't want Cliff Floyd and/or Kenny Lofton. --Has Pods signed with anybody yet? Bring back Scotty Posednik.
  7. Royals decide not to offer Emil Brown contract for 2008 KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Outfielder Emil Brown will be a free agent after the Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday they will not offer him a contract for 2008. Brown, who led Kansas City in RBIs for the past three seasons, became expendable when the Royals signed power-hitting outfielder Jose Guillen to a $36 million, three-year contract earlier this month. The announcement came just hours ahead of the deadline for making such a decision. Brown had a .257 batting average last season, with six home runs and a team-best 62 RBIs in 113 games. With 86 RBIs in 2005 and 81 in 2006, he is the only Royals player other than Carlos Beltran to lead the team in RBIs for three consecutive seasons. Brown signed a one-year, $3.45 million contract prior to last season. Please Sox, just say NO!
  8. Do your pitching and hitting coaches have sound strategies in mind for this upcoming season? Obviously a repeat of last year's hitting philosophy will result in a horribly dull offense. Obviously Coop needs a magic wand to make Danks, Floyd and Jose big league caliber pitchers. With very few changes on our roster, will our assistant coaches step up and lead the way?
  9. Thome and Jenks are right. If our current starters have career years we could be OK. I do sense a crappy year, though. Pretend it's April and May and we're trotting Danks, Floyd and Jose out there 3 of every 5 games. Are any of you really confident we're going to win many of those games, especially with our bullpen?
  10. I agree. Owens isn't that bad. If our veterans want to taste the postseason again, they should lead and kick some ass and make sure Owens and Fields and Richar contribute. We won't do squat if Owens, Richar and Fields suck. We have some stud veterans (though they are all plodders) who if they have huge years can win us some games. If they return to the live ball, we'll be even better shape. Please don't flame on me, remember it's the holiday season, but how bout we sign Josh Fogg as a middle reliever or No. 5 starter. To me, it's a no brainer. Isn't he a free agent?
  11. Why was the reaction on here a joke? Detroit has one of the most fearsome lineups on paper in a long time. You say we aren't going to win next year anyway? Uh ... it was KW's job to tinker and make sure we do win. Any team with Thome, Konerko, Dye, Mark B and Vasquez with Bob Jenks has a nucleus. These are veteran players. Why shouldn't we expect our GM to do his job?? The reaction on here was fine.
  12. I thought this was one of my posts the way you typed it in poem-like fashion. Nice to see somebody else doesn't use the whole line.
  13. I don't get this philosophy. Who says we couldn't get MORE for him than what we got?
  14. I don't mind Kenny speaking up. It doesn't bother me. What bothers me is he gave up Garland. Big inning eater, prettty good pitcher for an old ss. Dumb.
  15. Fields is a pretty damn good prospect. Who is this Maybin guy? Is he a can't miss?
  16. Most of us thought Hall was a good pickup and the only worry was whether he'd play so much it'd piss off AJP. It didn't work out. Hopefully it's because Hall was hurt. I'd still rather have Olivo.
  17. Coco actually has sucked more than a year now, Aaron has been great for more than a year now and yet Coco gets the love? I think it's the fact again we always hate on our own ... the players we've seen day in and out. Rowand is way better option than Coco. That said ... Aaron is not a savior. If he was the Phils would sign him.
  18. Why would they release him? Pick him up and dump Hall. Bring back Olivo!
  19. I just think he should serve as much time as his friend did, the one who refuses to talk.
  20. Do any of you ever remember seeing Brian with a strong at bat? I don't mean where he got lucky and hit the ball, at bat(s) where he had a clue? You all see more games than me. Not a flame, just wondering. Whenever I saw him bat he looked like a pitcher at the plate, a bad hitting pitcher I mean. I just wondered if even in spring training when he got on that hot streak did he ever have at bats where you felt he truly had a clue? Fill me in.
  21. I like DeJesus but he might be overrated. He hit a mere .260 last year with just seven homers and 58 RBIs and doesn't steal bases with just 10 and four CS. Maybe it was an off year but he did have a crummy year. If the Royals get Rowand I wonder if they'd trade us DeJesus for MacDougal and Sisko. I'd pass on Luis, but that's just me.
  22. Good Chet Lemon reference. He's one of my favorite players of all time. That guy could make a spectacular catch, that is for sure.
  23. Yes. If DiMaggio beat his wife then I now consider him a total total slimeball. I did not know he did that. If what you say is true, then he is scum. No man should hit a woman ... ever. If he did do that, I despise the memory of Joltin Joe. Where is proof of this? If he did that, he is even worse than Bonds in my opinion, if Barry has not hit women. As far as Bonds ... I am assuming he did knowingly use steroids. If he did, he lied to the grand jury (and should go to jail for this like his pal the personal trainer who had to serve time for being quiet), he lied to the public a zillon times about this and from the stories in SI, USA Today, and how he treated a friend of mine in the media, I definitely "hate" Bonds if that is the right word. Now he appears to be a good family man from what I saw on TV with him involving his family in the home run chase, so that is good. I shouldn't say I hate him, but I definitely do not like him and would root for us to lose every game if we stooped so low as to sign him, which we won't. Jerry is old school. He can't want Bonds. He and the commish surely have had many a cigar ripping Bonds in the war-rooms.
  24. Barry Bonds? My god, if we sign him, I hope no fans go to the games. Barry Bonds ... the scum of big league baseball. Hated so much even the Giants had to let him go. They said they don't want him even though the Giant fan base actually likes the creep. If the White Sox sign Barry Bonds I sincerely hope they lose every game. Yes this is the same guy who late last season said I would never want my team to lose a game while trying to pick up a better draft pick. Barry Bonds needs to spend the year in jail rather than at the Cell. Barry Bonds can go f*** himself. Gawd I hate that piece of crap.
