  1. This issue is complicated compared to other vaccines because of the fact we still don't know for sure where the virus originated, the politics involved in lockdowns and shutdowns, the fact it was administered before full FDA approval which has sparked conspiracy theories, etc. Say what you want and disagree all you want but because of all the noise and distrust of Fauci and the government (many would never trust a Trump vaccine; many would never trust a Biden vaccine) you get many unwilling to be vaxxed. There's been so much noise and so little discussion of calming people's fears to adverse reactions that have occurred with some, that many are sitting it out. In answer to your question, yes people have the right to refuse to be jabbed. Personal choice is evident here and understandable. It's just the way it is. Some are rolling the dice rather than trusting politicians and science. There's also an intolerance regarding calm discussion of the issue. Right wing radio hosts have been outspoken against the vax and more than a few have died from Covid. Left wingers like Howard have exploded and said unvaxxed deserve what they get. Noise, noise, noise. We have to deal with the fallout of an angry society re. this vaccine and future ones surely to come. Not enough calm discussion. Everybody feels they are right and have dug in. Peace.
  2. Interesting that the two highly publicized cases of celebs who 'threw the kitchen sink" at Covid, got well really quickly: Trump and Rogan.
  3. So much is wrong about this post IMO, but no need for me to rebut. You have the right to your opinion on the vax issue.
  4. Bats were rocking and rolling during Game One of the series. Poor Sox have had the division wrapped up for so long it's just been a waiting game for the postseason. It's all about medical treatments right now, not baseball. Right?
  5. Too many bumps and bruises. Sox are mentally and physically shooting for the playoffs and that's it. Considering the easy run to the division title, it's the smart play, the smart bet. Gotta hope to catch lightning in a playoff bottle.
  6. 11 strikeouts tonight. Very boring and very sad what modern day baseball has become. The home run throughout history has been great, but this new brand of baseball in which ALMOST everyone tries to hit a home run or strikeout really truly is ruining the great game. So only guys with almost no reasonable expectation of a home run (a guy as short as Madrigal) try to hit singles. At least Moncada stroked that single to left when it appeared Sox might actually rally the old way. Not to be.
  7. Tolerance, calmness and kindness. Without these things America is doomed.
  8. If you are implying the "monoclonal treatment that normal Joe's can't afford" works and is an effective plan to make sure you don't suffer severe Covid symptoms, then by gosh pharm and President Joe and Kamala and Fauci need to tell us that and MAKE IT AFFORDABLE. Vaccines have been free. If Rogan's plan worked, then by gosh, bring it on for everybody FDA!!! CDC, whomever. Test it. Bring it. This is a crisis, folks. If Trump and Joe Rogan took the right medicines, let's do it if it works. Or at least explore it. Money should be no object during a pandemic.
  9. I love Rogan. Totally love his takes and commentary. And interviews. I can't be the only one. He makes good $$ doing his thing on spotify or wherever the heck he does it. I only see 9-12 minute snippits on youtube. ... And I also like Howard Stern and Bill Maher. Maher is liberal; Stern has been so outspoken about those who won't get vaxxed. He's even sort of celebrated some loudmouth anti vax radio guys dying this week. I wish everybody would be open enough to listen to all types (Rogan, Stern, Maher, Whitlock, Clay Travis, barstool guy, I enjoy ALL OF THEM).
  10. I definitely think people should consider both perspectives as you say. I contend not all anti-vaxxers are wacko conspiracy theorists. I think many anti-vaxxers are normal people with their reasons. People should listen to each other. Instead, I've noticed intolerance. For instance I've noticed if I stray and say anything negative about Fauci or Covid in my posts here, I better duck. Peeps get MAD. It's an opinion, folks. We need to consider all opinions cause I guarantee u I'm not the only one who thinks my way on Covid.
  11. He'll get there. He's still just 26 and for all we know has been really banged up in his year after covid.
  12. He'll blast more than 20 Homers. He tries to hit it out every time up. I think more like 40 homers (Adam Dunnish) and 125 Ks.
  13. I am and it's funny as all get out. I read CNN website and Fox on my phone several times a day and laugh my butt off at the differences. ie what the sites cover on a given day and what they don't. Also the biased wording in the stories, albeit "some" correctly have the word "opinion" on them. Some don't. Suffice it to say both CNN and Fox have agendas and they are hilarious to follow. Try it.
  14. What if I said, I disagree? Calm discussion or dismiss with a brief reprimandish type comment? The world is meant for disagreements and discussion. We have so little of it now. Just hate (not saying you) even among relatives.
  15. Sheets can hit the baseball. I personally think he and Vaughn will be productive big leaguers on the South Side. Nice win. The bats were roaring.
  16. More radio deaths. ... Looks like all these people were in a risk category (age). It's not a good way to die. I feel badly for everybody who has been affected by Covid, the living and the dead. Sad. https://www.yahoo.com/news/conservative-radio-hosts-anti-vaccine-die-from-covid-184420178.html
  17. Wow. Benetti really exploded on that podcast. Good for him. It's simply ridiculous to not let he and Stone travel on the road. How the hell are you supposed to broadcast a game watching it on TV in Chicago? Awful decision. Cmon. Compared to player contracts these announcers' pay mean nothing to the bottom line. I bet Stone refuses to do this next season.
  18. Almost everybody I know who has been traveling extensively of late (as much as pre-covid days) has caught Covid. All have been vaccinated but still report fairly nasty symptoms, though nothing to put 'em in the hospital. I still don't feel like traveling.
  19. The next global issue in my mind with my odds listed: Caveat, this is my opinion only. 10-1 odds: Hackers from enemy countries shut down U.S. grid and perhaps at same time attack our water. They do this in winter and it's not pretty. 5-1 odds: Another virus hits the entire world as this one has done. If not a different virus, a variant of this one and it's really really bad, bad nuff to shut everything down and wreak havoc on the health system for a long, long time. 3-1 odds: Earthquakes hit us hard. We've had hurricanes and tornadoes, earthquakes hit. Natural disasters/global warming, same ballpark. On a positive note: 2-1 odds: The pandemic ends after most of the unvaccinated frankly catch covid. Let's hope most of the cases are mild and it's not that catastrophic as this disease ultimately is contracted by all unvacced at some point.
  20. Thanx. If we're looking for reasons anti vaxxers have used, however, one was the fact it had not been fully approved. That was mentioned a lot by the anti's. And I was concerned about it at the time of my jabbing. You point out full approval had never been used before, yet it was used for this one and can explain some vaccine hesitancy. The hesitant do not just include eccentrics who have conspiracy theories. Some truly examine the pros and cons then determine whether they will be vaxxed or not. here's the us food and drug report: https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-first-covid-19-vaccine
  21. Fair point, but when I got my two vaxxes, both after Biden took over as president, there still had not been FDA approval. If I'm wrong correct me on that, but I recall that presenting a problem in my mind. Full approval was not granted til Aug. 23 right? ... as far as your initial sentence if that's the proper context then you make a fair point. The news items I've seen with that quote from Joe assert that he was saying "who would trust that?" in terms of a person being smart to question the vaccine and not trust it cause Donald was the one pushing the vax.
  22. From what I've read on here, most (all?) of the board, including me, have gotten vaxxed and wear masks, which I think we should do. I've run into a couple anti vaxxers at church and it's not pretty. They believe what they believe and don't wanna hear my point of view. The three of them are prolly in their 50s.
  23. True dat. I could discuss Covid forever but will not do it on here cause I don't wanna get too political and get in trouble. Rules are rules.
  24. I know some don't like Joe Rogan at all but he had an interesting podcast on how he threw everything including the kitchen sink at his Covid. Now he's rich and popular and I'm sure has doctors who will help him out in such a health problem, but if there are peeps who have an open mind and want to hear about how this one person treated his own covid and got well quickly, here's the pod. He used various drugs and was better quickly. He does say in the podcast he's is pondering suing CNN. I know some will dismiss, say it's Joe Rogan and not care. I'm not taking sides, just saying for those who like both sides of an issue, it's cool to hear Joe talk about his Covid case and medications. Peace out.
