  1. Then we should sign Maddon. New set of eyeballs. Why not?
  2. Jose is winning that poll on soxtalk by a 3-1 margin on both questions. A lot of peeps agree with greg but must be shy about posting. Jose is a likeable guy by all accounts. Don't see why you and others would be so vocally against him when we haven't played a meaningful game after mid July in many years.
  3. Look I'm human. Some nights I get tired of defending my man, Jose Abreu. It's not my fault I constantly have to be on alert to negate the verbal assault on my idol, Jose Abreu.
  4. Should I cease being excited about Cease. Nyuk Nyuk. Talk me off the ledge.
  5. I truly believe Fathom coulda done as good a job or better than Hahn. I support his statement here. And no offense to McCann. I like him enough as a poor man's Fisk.
  6. Who cares? Season is over. He was productive enough when we still had a "chance." He could go ohfer 30 and I'd still like him. It's not my fault Hahn and the scouts don't normally sign good position players.
  7. Me no likey Jon Jay's presence in our lineup.
  8. Fans on this board were totally against signing Cruz. I wanted to sign him and got put in my place. I had seen he's remained productive from the back of his baseball card. But it's the age thing. People would have bombarded Hahn with insults had he signed an older hitter. Also the steroid thing angers many.
  9. I can't wait to see the team of all stars the Sox are going to apparently put out there in a few seasons. It seems from reading the opinions of the modern fan, some of you stat folks want a high WAR guy, a standout at every position. If Jose isn't good enough for some of you, again, I can't wait til we have a star at every position which seems to be your goal. I'm assuming the list of high WAR stars who will be starting (and sufficient enough for the modern advanced stat fan) are: 3B- Moncada. SS-Timmy. 2B-Madrigal. 1B-Vaughn (my Q is will any fans ultimately decide Timmy for some reason is not good nuff and they'll pull an Abreu on him; for the record I'm high on Timmy). LF-Eloy. CF-Robert. RF-Star to be determined. C-Star to be determined (McCann isn't quite superstar enough). Pitchers: Kopech, Gio, Cease, Lopez, Star to Be Determined for No. 5 (Lopez may not be good nuff for this rotation). Relievers: Bummer and the rest stars to be determined. BTW the results of the poll here encourage greg. Looks like Jose wins big in terms of the poll. I wish some of the pro-Jose people would speak up more. The results of the poll questions are in great support of my idol, Jose Abreu. GO SOX!
  10. Why is this thread even open? Isn't Jose being discussed all over the place on the board? Ron you wake up every day and think about getting rid of Jose every hour every day? Man you have Jose on the mind. Glad to see the poll is runaway to keep Jose. Ron hates Jose more than I did Rios and a few other guys I can't remember now. I remember despising a few when we actually were contenders.
  11. Not sure why smart Sox fans think there's even a small chance we'd trade Bummer. Only way would be if Coop tells Hahn he's a bust waiting to happen. Otherwise, it'd be like trading one of our young, controllable lineup guys. Sox are one thing, cheap, and it "looks like" this guy could contribute for a while while making pennies.
  12. Why the snark? What has Jose ever done to anger the fans? Is it his recent outburst? He spoke the truth. Back in the day when a player made the all star team, Sox fans rallied behind them big time.
  13. Why do you get so mad at individual posters? Let him rant. It's sports not life and death. Who gives a bleep what people think?
  14. Cruz slugs three home runs but he's too old to be on a team. He's 39. No way Jose will produce after 33 if that, right? p.s. somebody will tell me now it's only because of steroids cruz is a stud at 39.
  15. You poor man, going to a game Despaige started. Ugh. Despaige gives greg despair. Nobody cares about your $225, but I do. That's a lot of jack to watch a horrific game.
  16. Great point, Dick. I like your posts of late. We get nothing for Nova. He had to be close to DFA before the amazing shutout.
  17. Leury is a nice player. Good hitter. We do not need Kemp. Pass.
  18. There's sort of a negative vibe around here about Abreu and I don't like it.
  19. I disagree. Eloy has missed a full month with injuries. Kopech is out with a serious surgery. Timmy also got hurt and has missed significant time. Abreu is being run out of town. I'll give you Moncada and Eloy when healthy and Gio and Colome. And we're also running Colome out of town. I disagree it's been a successful season although the team is learning better how to win at home.
  20. Not when one horrific series effectively ended the season (not that we were in it anyway, but 0-4 to KC?)
  21. Apparently he's sticking to it takes 5 years to build a nice house. You'd think Stone would get some better takes. How bout this one. Surely Hawk's retirement was sped up because he had no interest in watching bad baseball night after night season after season. What about that, Stoney? I guarantee you Hawk knows rotten teams and managers when he sees em (Robin, Renteria). This pathetic baseball I'm sure made Hawk say, "I can't take this anymore." He probably was falling asleep on the drive home just thinking about this boring baseball. Stoney, I love you, don't shill for Jerry.
  22. Who cares if it is an overpay? It's not like the Sox are spending any money. You fans that worry about overpays on Abreu ... are you gonna be OK with some 200 or 300 million deal for some alleged superstar? My guess is you are trying to save here and there for the one guy who winds up getting 200 million some offseason? My take is pay the man. He's an all star and is going to be an asset the next 3 years. I hate to break it to you guys who think we're going to win pennants without some veterans who have been through the wars.
  23. Why do you continue to respond when I already conceded you win the argument and yet re-affirmed my ultimate point about Jose and winning? If I write any more I fear I'll get banned for repeating myself. In my opinion trolling can go both ways. Bless u and have a nice day. I better stop responding to this exchange or I could get in trouble IMO.
  24. Wrong. You guys are just like the (Democrat or Republican, you pick I won't write which one lest I violate political policy rules on here) Congress people who have nice one liners that win arguments. You are sharper than me thus win the arguments. I already conceded I never win an argument on here which is fine. But you win as your quick statements lead to your last sentence which wins this argument. Anyhow, my intent is to win. I personally don't feel Jose can impact winning when the front office puts so many failures around him not only in the lineup but on the mound. Now we have some other good hitters and pitchers but very few in the Jose years. At any rate, though you make good points and win this argument, my intent whether you believe it or not is to win baby, win. I feel Jose can contribute to winning. p.s.I thought my policy on winning was crystal clear. I got in trouble on this board for writing one time too many how much I care about winning compared to tanking to get a better draft pick. GO JOSE! GO SOX!
  25. That's one of the reasons I love or worship (in a sports sense, not religious) Abreu so much. He's maintained pretty damn nice stats while playing on a pathetic club. Surely since I tend to repeat myself cause of the silence out there to my points you remember I've written that I would think it'd be tough concentrating on individual at bats in July, August, September with the team buried. Yet he seems to always put up good (traditional) stats. You can't accuse me of hating Jose. I am a loyal backer of his. Even if he flops the rest of his career I'll respect what he's done. I feel like he puts in good to great effort and his performance has impressed me despite having to play for a pathetic organization that provides little protection for him in lineup.
