  1. I hardly ever say statniks any more. I say the stat people or stat lovers. Check my posts and you won't find "statnik" very often. I think I might have put it once fairly recently. I am not against all advanced stats. It just drives me crazy though that the traditional stats still determine entry in the Hall of Fame (pitching wins, losses, ERA) and hitting stats (BA, HR totals, RBI) and dominate baseball broadcasts yet they mean nothing to the stat people. It's all about WAR and certainly pitching wins mean nothing nowadays to the stat lovers.
  2. What part was funny? Nate is a walking injury. I don't think many teams want to deal with him and his funky pitching motion that will result in DL unfortunately. He I'm sure is a nice guy. Gio and Lopez? I mean are you doing handstands in delight over their ability right now? If you were a GM would you trade much for them? If Hahn can get a haul for them he might go for it and try again. Lopez has looked very good at times I'll give him that.
  3. Cause he's a fan.
  4. I don't know, Hibbs. I blame the front office for not turning 80-win teams into 95 winners especially in this weakened division. Some people think the tank/rebuild is only way to go. I contend you put a .500 team together and then have the front office acquire the right pieces for a change and you win consistently. I don't personally think you have to win 50-60 games for 5 seasons in order to build WS winners. There is the "put together a decent team and let the GM actually earn his salary by turning 80 into 95" way as well. That requires some $$ though.
  5. This should be an impeachable offense. Why can prez usurp the legal system? How bout letting out that guy in NYC who did not kill his wife and is rotting away in prison?? Blogo was pretty heinous, correct? His crimes deserve a bit more jail time.
  6. Excellent post dealing in facts. Good work.
  7. Now some comic I never heard of called Trump's daughter a bad word in her monologue on some TV show and also suggested again her dad wants to have sex with his daughter. No outrage yet. Interesting how there's a double standard. Christians and Republicans are fair game just cause nobody cares if they get insulted. It's a weird dynamic.
  8. Great post. I never knew the majority of the population was bisexual. This will shock some people that traditional heterosexual people are actually in the minority.
  9. I don't know. I guess I'm not used to this franchise dropping games in droves like this.
  10. Nate isn't going to bring much of anything. I would love an analysis of his pitching motion from ptatc. ... Gio and Lopez? I guess I wrote that post out of anger but they haven't been lighting the world on fire so to speak and need some help from Coop to go with their young arms.
  11. It amazes me how this team gets in long stretches where it loses just about every night. Loss after loss. 48-50 wins, baby. If the Sox are going to be this bad, at least they could tell RR to stop with the bunting BS. This team follows Sabes. It must make Hahn cringe when RR calls for the bunt.
  12. That was a great great article. I like this part: "Maybe that’s why the Sox, never an attendance powerhouse, have the third-lowest average attendance to date, and are already over 110,000 guests behind last year’s number at this time. I’m not attendance-shaming here. I don’t blame people for not spending money on a largely trash product, especially with a minimum $20 price tag on parking alone. I don’t blame people for not wanting to take their kids to see a team that’s 8-18 at home. Save the ballpark for a chance at a good memory. Support the team in person if you want and can, by game ticket, TV tune-in, or website visit, but I don’t think anyone should feel obligated to. Maybe that’s a controversial opinion! Maybe it’s not. I don’t care either way." I still think it's unhealthy for everybody involved to have such a bad team. I guess the only reason to keep Eloy in the minors is the possibility of this lousy team affecting him mentally. The evidence sure is there that Timmy and Moncada lose interest at times and who can blame them since there's the "wink wink" lose is good mentality going on. I guess if I had to give an opinion I'd keep Eloy in the minors just because the losing environment is sooooo bad with the big league club right now. Why poison him til next season when maybe the Sox realize they better shoot for .480 or risk turning a lot of young players into losers. Congrats to the author though. Great article and timely.
  13. Good article. Wouldn't it be funny if in such a team meeting, somebody brought up the tanking issue? The players are kind of pawns in this tanking thing. Guys like Abreu want to win, yet the environment is one of wink, wink, keep on losing. It's all part of the plan, guys.
  14. Even as a diminishing asset he's better than 80 percent of all hitters. This age-thing in baseball truly drives me crazy. If you were honest with me, wrath, would u admit you consider all players Jose's age diminishing assets? Please be honest.
  15. Yes this is another indefensible action by a Hollywood figure. No sane person could defend her IMO.
  16. Did he really say anything that resembles this? Chelsea has every right to be very upset and until this I was no Chelsea supporter.
  17. You could be right. I can't really think of any issue he's been praised. To the media's credit, I guess, they were skeptical about NK and sure nuff the meetings got canceled. Even I was not ready to jump on that bandwagon. I don't trust NK and Trump, IMO at least, is a mean chump.
  18. Maybe you are right. I don't like the Sox tendency of being just what the doctor ordered to help turn seasons around. Sox come to town? Boom. Struggling team is good again.
  19. That's sad. Some of my positions are wild, but except for mentioning long ago that I thought Tim would be a great catcher, I've never brought it up again. Do I respond when peeps mock me and bring it up? Sure. It's not like I am posting it all the time. I respond to attacks and mockery of old posts of mine, sure I do. As far as the above sentence. Look ... if you want a board where 95 percent of the posts are praising the rebuild and happy about losing (cept for the game threads, I respect fans for getting mad at the Sox on there) then get rid of me and my ilk. I try to be a good fan. I'm telling you I want us to be good. I don't quite understand how Lopez getting shelled again can be shrugged off. Or proclaiming our bullpen good for gawd sakes. I have violent opinions but I love the Sox! Caulfield can attest to that or Fathom. They know I am normal, just passionate. I may be the polar opposite of El Rockin. But life is not all sunshine. There are Chicago hailstorms to consider.
  20. I can buy these arguments. Post more often. As far as the person who asked how he looks like a catcher. You don't think he looks like Sandy Alomar back there or Manny Sanguillen? I realize he's not gonna be a catcher. I just said his production numbers will be more apt a catcher than a SS IMO. Also, frankly? He's not a very good SS.
  21. Cause Cleveland was awful before the sox came to town.
  22. People say I don't give examples now you don't like my examples. WTH?
  23. They are not earning their $$$ that is for sure. Lapses of concentration and QUITTING. I worship Hawk but he should be ashamed of himself by inventing These Guys Don't Quit bullshit. I want concentration! And improvement.
  24. I hope you are right, yesterday333. Post more often. I get tired of hearing greg talk (write on here) sometimes.
  25. He's 6-foot-1 and lean. Manny Sanguillen was 6-foot and lean. Sandy Alomar was 6-5 and lean. Sal Perez is 6-3 but beefy. The average major league catcher in 2011 stood 6-foot-0 1/2. Need I go on? JC Martin of the Sox was 6-2 and lean. I'm not just pulling stuff out of my behind, folks. Greg is a baseball aficionado (at times). Why can't you except the profile of TA as a possible catcher?
