  1. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) Way too early to say that. If they all pitch to expectations, the rotation will be one of the best. If some exceed expectations, could be the best in baseball. But we've got a long way to go before we know how they will all perform. The names on the list I mentioned are can't miss maybe with the exception of Cease and Burdi. I guess Fulmer could bust. The rest have too much going for them.
  2. Tony Kemp is having a great season. How can a guy 5-foot-6 have 10 home runs? He's hitting .324 with a .373 OBP. There's no way this guy is the player to be named for Clippard, who is horrific. If Kemp is the player, the Sox should start him immediately and bat him lead off and see what they've got.
  3. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) Social media has already got a couple of the rally goers canned from their jobs. Better stick to the hoods fellas. Good. An employer owes it to America to fire anybody who is a Nazi.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) Hard to push that after a majority of that crowd is running around with Nazi arm bands and Fascist symbolism. WTF are some Americans embracing Nazi-ism? I mean were these people born in sewers? Good luck getting a job ever and functioning in society if you are proclaiming yourself a Nazi. I mean your future is in one place: Jail. Hopefully these Nazis will be willing to boast about their affiliation so as to never get hired again. I mean out yourselves, proud Nazis. Tell the world who you are. Ridiculous. This horrible rally and the injuries/deaths stole the headlines from the Korea krap for a day or two. That's ready to blow up again anyday now as well. Let there be peace on earth please.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 04:53 AM) The pitching is ridiculously thin. Exactly 2 major league pitchers on the major league team; if you generously figure 2 prospects for 1 major league player, and if you assume Lopez is major league, they would need 6 good starting prospects and 10-12 for the bullpen. And that would still leave them with no depth. So, to answer the question, it may be a while. What do you mean bout the pitching being a disaster zone? The starting rotation is Rodon, Giolito, Lopez, Kopech (sp?) and Cease. these are all can't miss major leaguers. Plus Hansen, Fulmer and Dunning. Burdi, Adams and Clarkin. You already have a full staff of starters and relievers here. Like I said add one vet starter maybe and 2 bullpen guys for a few bucks and you are talking low low payroll for a No. 1 in the league pitching staff. The two prospects for 1 major league player doesn't make sense regarding these guys. And I'm probably forgetting somebody. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 02:04 PM) 2) I read yesterday that the White Sox are contemplating moving Avi Garcia and Abreu this off season. I have no doubt in my mind that both of them will be moved for prospects. More salary dumps. The team now has the worse pitching staff in MLB. Without Avi Garcia and Abreu we will have the worse offense in MLB And the lowest payroll in MLB. that will be very sad if they drop Abreu and Avi. At some point you need a couple veteran bodies I would think. But maybe not. The Sox also are set position player wise. I will grant you a couple of these guys could fizz. But you've got Burger, TA, Moncada and Abreu (hopefully) around the horn. You've got Collins at catcher and you have an unprecedented in Sox history superstar outfield of Eloy, Robert and Rutherford in the outfield with Avi DH or Basabe or Polo or Cordell or whomever in the outfield. You've also got Gillaspie in the mix and others I'm forgetting. Plus whoever they draft in 2018 at the No. 1 spot. That might even be another pitcher at this point. I would say the pitching is pretty much set with can't miss/big league types. I'll acknowledge a lot of the hitters could flame out but on paper, this payroll projects to be LOW LOW LOW for a long long time making the owners mighty happy. They have it made. They can have the lowest of payrolls and the fans will love it. Not often that happens. Hahn is invaluable to these owners cause he's putting so much money in their pockets.
  6. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 12:26 AM) I unfortunately agree with you. I don't see JR spending any money on this team. The lower the payroll=more money in his pockets. I wish I felt differently but that's how I feel. Yes sir. One advantage to a rebuild in Jerry's later years (hopefully he lives to 100 tho) is the saving of cold hard cash. The fans LOVE this rebuild; we have young guys projected at almost all our positions including the starting rotation. All we are going to "need" to go with the guys we have acquired are some bullpen pieces and maybe one vet starter (a good version of Holland or Miguel; somebody like that who'll be cheap, 7 mill a year for 2 years or something). If we don't have enough bodies to field a GOOD bullpen, again, maybe sign somebody there. Maybe a closer for one huge contract. So we'll have all young cost controlled cheap guys (that the fans LOVE) plus a young pitching staff (that the fans worship) with maybe the need for one vet starter. at the most a guy to cost 20 mill for 2 years, 10 mill per annum max. GO SOX!
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) Pelfrey relieves and has given up a homer, single and walk The stadium should be empty on the days those 2 pitch. Even with cheap tickets. It'd be like going to a movie knowing it's just a horrible movie.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) Holland gives up the usual and obligatory homer and it's 5-0 The Sox always seem to get the Royals back on track. KC should at least give the Sox Bubba Starling as thanks for all the times in their little run of success that the Sox series helped reverse their losing ways.
  9. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 07:15 PM) I expect them to be very active in FA. I know that's an unpopular opinion, but they can sign good players as soon as this offseason and it does nothing to hurt their long term prospects. I have a sneaky feeling the Sox owners are going to fall in love with the fact our fan base is thrilled with the young players acquired and will soon fall in love with the idea they have an all-time low payroll. Why spend ANY money in free agency when it appears this team will be able to contend in 2019? There are enough young studs to fill a starting rotation and should be enough young players in 2019 ready to contribute that the team can contend in a weak division. So why spend ANY money in free agency if you are an owner? As long as the fans buy in, which they have, just go for it on the cheap. I could see them 'maybe' spending a little bit of dough on a reliever or two or maybe even one veteran starter in free agency, but that's it. Again ... why spend any money if you are an owner if you have the fans on your side not demanding anything of the sort and media not demanding anything of the sort? Try to win on the cheap and keep all that $$$$ for yourself?
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) If you voted for Trump, yeah, you were saying you were at least okay with all of that. Wrong. I have a friend who voted for Trump for economic reasons. He is convinced the economy will get better under Trump. He's a rich financial guy in Chicago. Like me he also despised Hillary. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) When can we actually hold Republican voters responsible for their support and their votes? This is a bad argument. A lot of people don't believe they should write in a candidate like I did. So they actually pick one of the two choices. Picking Trump over Hillary is not an odd pick. People who voted for Trump just because they couldn't vote for Hillary should not be criticized. They aren't the ones who came up with two rotten candidates. They just picked in their minds the lesser of two evils.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) Trump predicts a tenfold increase in Guam tourism based in the NK threats. He really did. He also refuses to denounce white supremists. Can't humiliate his base. I saw that about Guam. I thought that was odd. It did strangely make me feel better about no thermonuclear war, however. Trump must not think NK will strike Guam. I thought he did issue a statement against the violence in Virginia.
  12. I'm pretty sure I just saw a guy hitting a woman in this CNN video, about halfway through. The person with braids looks female to me. What a coward. http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/12/us/charlotte...ally/index.html
  13. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) There's no way you're a real person. I refuse to believe it. I didn't stop my post with the one sentence you quoted. I listed 4-5 sentences backing up my point.
  14. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) There's no way you're a real person. I refuse to believe it. You don't think the mafia had influence over government policy in some cases? Or the powerful rich who fund campaigns? Think about it. Trump, one man, has the power to end the world as we know it and put us all in underground shelters if we can find one until we die. Who gets hurt in this scenario the most?? The rich. They didn't amass all that wealth to have one aggressive warmonger (Trump, though I might have picked too harsh a word) over-react, fire off some nukes and end the world as we know it. Why is this so odd a stance? QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 12:43 PM) Greg has been reading too many JFK conspiracy theory books apparently... Caulfield, you are reasonable. What do you think of my post.
  15. QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 06:02 PM) The Associated Press‏ @AP BREAKING: Vehicle plows into a group of counter-protesters at a white nationalist rally in Virginia; injuries unknown. I hope the violent thugs get caught, prosecuted and server many years in prison. Can you imagine being a government official and you hear your city/state is where they've decided to hold a white nationalist rally? I'm all for freedom of speech but if you are violent? Prison, baby, is your future.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 05:02 AM) I don't care about draft position period. I want our young players to do well and for the Sox to win. This isn't the NBA. #1 pick or #3 pick...big whoop. Young players playing better advances our rebuild effort much more then the difference in a couple of picks. Chisoxfn speaks the truth. I love Chisoxfn.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 02:07 AM) ReyLo's heater and change were nasty for a while. Hung the breaking ball a decent amount and started to hang the change later in the game. But damn, he's impressive. I bet Lopez would be upset if he is given the nickname referring to a female actress. He's not a female. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 02:35 AM) With a baseball game going on, Benetti starts talking Broadway musicals. I like Benetti. I used to worship Hawk but I feel like his grumpiness actually has hurt his broadcasting ability. Stoney will make a comment and Hawk will say, "Well, yeah!" like Stoney was captain obvious. Stoney's just doing his job, shouldn't have to walk on eggshells with grumpy Hawk. Benetti, if you read this board, good job, sir!
  18. I like what Anderson is doing. This is all Sox fans want. Signs of him being special. He's been stroking it lately. 12 homers isn't bad. If he had a big final six weeks he could hit 18-20 homers. Again, not bad at all. He really is starting to look comfy hitting in the Cell during this long homestand. Abreu, Moncada and Tim Anderson could be 3/4 of a playoff caliber infield for the next 10 years. Just need a 3B to go with them. I'm glad to see Delmonico keep getting hits. Two triples in one night is good stuff from Mr. Defense. Obviously glad with our pitching. Lopez, Rodon at least give the Sox 2 good starters in a 5-man rotation. The rare occasions you get the good Miguel you have 3 guys who can finally win on a given night. Holland and Shields obviously are embarrasments.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 10:23 PM) Excited for my ReyLo jersey Either you guys are baiting me to get me mad again, which is not very nice, or you actually are Jennifer Lopez fans? Ugh. How is this possible. Southsiders do not like Jennifer Lopez, folks. Southsiders like hot dogs and beer and Sox jerseys and SouthSide Hit men references.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) This is the one cock measuring contest where Trump actually has the largest cock, in terms of firepower. So no surprise he wants to play. This is exactly the thing that was mentioned by the anti Trump contingent during the campaign to fear, so it should come as no surprise. His handlers better get a hold of him, and maybe let on to the American people and Repubican leaders that yes, this guy is not fit to be president, and so,etching must be done about it right away.It may delay or end any hope that the rich will get a tax break any time soon, but it may save millions of lives, including Americans. You make some good points, Dick Allen. If this were the 60s do you think the mafia would take out Trump? Think about it. He is risking everything with his baiting of crazy Kim. If Kim does indeed fire up some missiles to scare Guam and they land within 10 miles of shore or actually hit land, think of all the wealthy Americans who will lose out? They won't be able to enjoy their mansions and boats and perks of being rich if they have to go dine on protein shakes in a bunker the next many years til they die. If Trump is putting their lives at risk, you'd think theyd be on Trump's ass so to speak telling him to start backing off. Nobody wants thermonuclear war... at the top of the list are the rich.
  21. "He will truly regret it and regret it fast." -- Wow what a comment from Trump. ... He said if Kim issues a 'threat' to any of our allies or Guam this is what will happen. This story isn't getting enough play. this is the biggest story in our lifetimes, folks, the official possibility of thermonuclear war at any moment. Trump's comment was truly scary.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:55 PM) ReyLo it is. Just the thought of J-Lo sickens me. ReyLo will be one, awful nickname. Maybe the worst in Sox history.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) Dan Hayes‏Verified account @CSNHayes 8m8 minutes ago #WhiteSox for 8/11: Anderson 6, Saladino DH, Abreu 3, Smith 2, Moncada 4, L. Garcia 9, Engel 8, Sanchez 5, Delmonico 7. Lopez 1. Batting Anderson first is so annoying. He doesn't try to get on base, that's the last thing on his mind. He's trying to see the ball and hit the ball hard. He's actually done better of late. Although I look at this lineup and there aren't many options. This is really a bad bad lineup. Given the same players, my lineup would be: Delmonico, Saladino, Moncada, Abreu, Smith, Anderson, Garcia, Engel, Sanchez.
  24. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) Should be a good one folks. Melky also making his first return to Chicago since being traded. First pitch 7:10 Central. What's Lopez' nickname going to be? ReyLo? No offense, but please, no. Gosh I hope the media headline writers don't pick up on that. Jennifer Lopez is annoying and not that famous anymore and has nothing to do with sports. ReyLo frankly will make me puke. Please think of something else.
  25. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) Everyone born in Guam is a United States citizen... Then if any NK bomb actually hits Guam, wow, the world will be changed forever. Trump in response to the attack on US citizens will blow up North Korea, Jong Un blow up South Korea and Hawaii and parts of the US Mainland. Who knows what China and/or Russia would do at that point to add onto the thermonuclear destruction of much of the world. We can go from worrying about a White Sox rebuild to picking up the pieces in a society of bunkers, not stadiums, in a manner of minutes. Q: Answer this question: Will there be an international crisis/war before the start of college football season with millions of people dead or can we survive this?
