  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 06:57 AM) You are right. It is mean and cruel. For the entire summer, I tried not to be mean/cruel. I pleaded with you, I tried to show people that Russia was actively trying to assist Trump to defeat Hillary. But certain people didnt care to listen, didnt care to even consider the idea that they were throwing our freedom away. And now that you helped elect someone who is trying to silence critics, who shows absolutely no respect for the American people, you think Im going to be soft? When you sit and watch something terrible happen, you let something terrible happen. Well, if you are right about Russia and Trump then you deserve credit for your observations being fact. If Trump did something illegal, by all means I hope he's impeached. U guys don't believe me, but I'm not a Trump fan. I'm a Hillary hater if that's the right word. He's a one percenter who I am assuming has stepped on the little guy A LOT to get where he is. That said if he hasn't done anything ilegal, he won and I hope somehow he turns around the economy. Also, you said the thing about going soft. That still doesn't mean you can act like I'm a Russia supporter. What's that all about? Nobody is more of an America-supporter than me. What are u doing insulting me like that? It's uncalled for IMO. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) You have to bring Hillary up in every post. Here is a question, Greg. Is it acceptable for Donald Trump, President Elect, to spend his time creating controversy over the Golden Globes? Meryl Streep is an actress, paid to give performances in film. Donald Trump is now an elected official sitting in the highest office in the world. You're worried about what Meryl Streep and Keith Olbermann are saying, why don't you worry about what Trump is saying, or more importantly, doing. This has nothing to do with the election, anymore. Hillary, Bernie, Ted Cruz, whoever. This is about Donald Trump as the President of the United States. Did Trump create controversy about the Golden Globes? I think he was responding to her throwing her little fit during her speech. Well yeah I'm upset at Streep and Olbermann whining, sure I am. Like I said, they backed a person whom America pretty much despises and made life difficult on Bernie who was trying to earn the nomination fair and square. As far as what Trump is saying, well, he's a rude guy. If he is a criminal, then impeach him and let's get on with it. If there's no proof of that, let him lead. And Hollywood needs to quit whining IMO.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) Where is Greg to drop his "anyone but Hillary she is corrupt" post while we all talk about Trump refusing to divest while talking about making deals with Dubai and saying we learned a lot from that hacking Look, my position on Trump is clear. I did not vote for him. BUT I did not vote for Hillary. I feel she is just as bad as Trump, yes I do. My other statement is if they can find something REAL to impeach him on, by all means do so. I am not in favor of Pence replacing him. I am in favor of Obama remaining president a year (if Trump did something illegal with the Russians and Pence is on the same ticket so he can't take over) and an emergency election next November if Trump is kicked out of office. You say the logical succession would apply here and Pence has to be President. I say IF Trump is guilty of something, this is unprecedented, hence Congress should be able to concoct my scenario in a national emergency.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 05:24 AM) First amendment. What separates America from your beloved Russia is that in America we are free to express our opinion. But we are now entering an era where the President of the United States is attempting to intimidate us into being quiet, much like his hero, Vladimir Putin. When the opposition is silenced due to fear of reprisal, you get results like USSR, Nazi Germany. So irrespective of whether they are Democrat or Republican, I hope the opposition never loses its voice. One of my favorite quotes of all times (which seems to be misattributed to Voltaire) is: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." And so that is the weakness of Democracy/Republic. Those who truly believe in it, must fight for the rights of those who wish to destroy it. That's pretty sad of you BTW to say what you did to me. My "beloved Russia?" That's pretty mean and cruel. I am not a Putin fan. I am not a Russia fan. You may hate me and my positions, but I never say things like you said there. I am an American, not a Russia supporter for gosh sakes.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 05:24 AM) First amendment. What separates America from your beloved Russia is that in America we are free to express our opinion. And so that is the weakness of Democracy/Republic. Those who truly believe in it, must fight for the rights of those who wish to destroy it. I never said they didn't have the right to say it. I wonder if a.) Streep did it at the wrong time. She'd just won an award for gosh sakes and b.) I don't understand much of what Olbermann is trying to accomplish. He did say he wanted no rebuttal or reaction, just people to hear him out. It simply amazes me how Hillary gets no fallout over all this. She should have won the damn election if she's so much better than Trump. She's not even getting ripped for being unable to beat Donald Trump for gosh sakes. Say what you want about Bernie. I think he'd have won.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 05:05 AM) Why would the DNC get behind Bernie when Hillary destroyed him? Never forget a MAJORITY of Americans voted for Hillary. Whether you like it or not, a minority of Americans screwed you Greg. And they along with you, will have to deal with the fallout. The party of Reagan bowing to the Russians. The party of small government promising to spend and increase the federal government without a word about "balancing the budget." The Russian's won, after all of these years, they won. And all they had to do was post a few false stories to convince people like you how "terrible" Hillary was. Trust me, I've despised Hillary a long time. As far as Russia ... I said earlier if Russia delivered votes to Trump and impacted the election I'd be in favor of Obama staying in office six months to a year and have an emergency new election. Or if Trump had a role in this, impeach him now. Even though Hillary won the popular vote, you guys fail to admit TONS of Americans voted for Trump. It's still America. They are your brothers and sisters. If you do not accept Americans as voting Trump in, I don't know what to say. Maybe a Civil War is ahead again. Or states trying to leave the country and start their own country.
  6. Do you think Meryl Streep and Olbermann are out of line with their "speeches" recently about how bad Trump is? I don't see what they hope to accomplish. You know, America elected the guy. Are the Streeps and Olbrermanns of the world upset beyond belief because she won the popular vote? I mean rules are rules. Trump won the election. Why don't the public figures of the world merely say they are hoping for the best but like the De Niro character in the Focker movies, we'll be watching him closely. I mean if he commits an impeachable offense, get rid of him. If not, accept it.
  7. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 06:17 PM) The man was hearing voices. He thought he was being recruited by the US into ISIS. He went to the FBI office in Anchorage telling them this and they admitted him into a hospital for FOUR DAYS. You think that's enough time to help someone who was hearing voices and obviously was mentally unstable? Oh, by the way, he served our country in Iraq. What he did was horrible. What wasn't done for him was just as bad because it could have saved those lives. As Tex said, it's time to address the mental health crisis. Oh I know it. The mental health crisis is really bad. I saw it in one of my relatives in Chicago over Xmas. Millions of Americans are losing it daily, freaking out, crying uncontrollably at the smallest things. I know mental illness is really really bad in the USA today. I'm not sure what we are gonna do about it. I just know we are in trouble, especially with weapons readily available. You are right, this guy was hearing voices. Can you imagine how many millions of people are just as sick, if that's the right word? The illness is not going away. It will only get worse.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 02:11 AM) We can thank all those people who were too proud to vote for "Crooked Hilary" and instead didn't vote or wasted theirs on a 3rd party candidate. Absolutely pathetic. You guys have misdirected anger. The anger is at the DNC for not getting behind Bernie. When are u gonna acknowledge the AWFULNESS of the Democrat candidate? Say what you want ... a ton of Americans (yes they are Americans) voted for Trump because they despised her. We elected a rich 1 percenter. He was running against a rich 1 percenter, who happens to be extremely unlikeable. Direct your anger at YOUR CANDIDATE please. She was so bad that I voted for NEITHER. If Donald is sick and depraved as Keith Olbermann suggests, maybe he'll be impeached early on. That would be OK with me.
  9. Re: Willy. Is our outfield the worst in baseball history? Just asking. Our infield could be one of the most productive offensively in team history. Abreu, Moncada, Anderson, Frazier. Are we even going to try to put anybody in the outfield who is MLB caliber? And catcher is disgracefully bad. Might as well put Saladino out there in center just to let him have 500 at bats. I still say if we kept Q we potentially have a playoff rotation and with Robertson and Nate, on paper, we have a playoff bullpen. We're just horrid in OF, catcher and DH. Are the Sox still gonna trade everybody?? The way it stands today, this rebuild is barely off the ground. We're closer to contending (at this time) than rebuilding. Now trade Q and Nate and Robertson and Frazier and Melky that's a different story. p.s. Why not trade a prospect or two for Alex Gordon and sign Cespedes? Wouldn't we be favored in the Central?
  10. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 01:53 AM) greg you are ready to start the second civil war with that rhetoric Not meaning to start a war. I think if it was proven Russia altered the election and as Balta explained they probably didn't, then in that case we Americans would be OK with Obama staying in office another year or two and have another election in 2 years. It would make no sense letting Pence take over considering he would have benefited as much as Trump IF the Russians were proven to have altered the voting.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 12:41 AM) Do you have any idea how the government works? Trump Pence Ryan Hatch Tillerson Mnuchin Mattis Sessions Zinke Ross Puzder Carson Chao Perry DeVos Kelly That's the Presidential line of succession once Trump takes office. I said if Russia is guilty of switching votes, etc., this is UNPRECEDENTED. Why would the VP of Trump be allowed to be president when the Russians got him in office as well?
  12. His gun was in his checked bag, went into bathroom and loaded the gun and killed people at baggage claim. Nobody saw him in the bathroom loading the gun? I won't assess blame, just express my sadness at the deaths and injuries and I'm happy the guy got caught and will be in prison the rest of his life. Terror mongers who do these things at airports also relish the fact that their actions will add to fear at airports and add to the awful experience known as travel. Sadness for those killed and their families. Very sad day.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 12:21 AM) Post security briefing Trump: the hacking had no effect on the election. They hacked the DNC because they were dumb and had bad security. They tried to hack the RNC but they are superior and it was fought off bravely. Intel: we have made no assessment. Like I said before, I'd be OK with him getting kicked out of office before he takes office. Let McCain or Herman Cain or somebody like that be president. Or cite an emergency and let Obama serve two more years and have another election in two years. As long as it's not Hillary I'm OK with dumping Trump over this Russian interference issue. Even Bill would be OK, just not Hillary. If it can be proven Russia doctored votes then I'd think Trump could be declared ineligible for office. It's unprecedented, but if Russia influenced the vote, don't we need another election?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) FutureSox ‏@FutureSox 9m9 minutes ago FutureSox Retweeted White Sox Talk Hitting prospect mini-camp starts Monday for 15 hitters: Is Davidson ready to hit?
  15. Ford canceled plans for huge plant in mexico. 700 jobs added in detroit. Nice development.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/dona...233065?cmpid=sf Trump surrogates are claiming the sanctions are really against them. Dear lord America, you got played. Not exactly. Two choices. The other's name was Clinton. Bernie would have been fine not Hillary
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 06:58 AM) http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/tru...v253?li=AAggv0m Yet another week with racial fireworks, this time starting with Bill O'Reilly and ending up with the Obamas, Mad Cow disease and Zimbabwe in the same set of comments. Did O'Reilly get in trouble for something? What did he do? I figure he's a ticking timebomb who could say something to get fired any time.
  18. I challenge Sox talk to name one "good" president who was Republican. There's some serious partisanship on this board. I'm sure you'll go back to Lincoln. Or was he lousy too? Don't people who hate one party and love the other realize they are acting a bit silly?
  19. Is there any way Trump can be as good as Reagan? I mean I'm sure some people thought it weird an actor was president. I would suspect Trump will be horrible but could he be a Reagan?
  20. This crazed guy only wanted to kill one person. Insane. Did they catch the shooter? If so his life is over.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 05:32 AM) I have some weird ass relatives and not in the creepy, drunk, fun or quirky kind, I mean straight up weird. When I was 16 living with my parents I got a f***ing kitchen fire extinguisher. Not because they were cheap or trying to prove a point...they were just eraserhead weird. I think we changed our Christmas eve plans after that. That is the wildest gift of all time. My gawd a fire extinguisher for a 16 year old. How awful a gift. Did anybody say anything when you opened the gift wrapping?

    Christmas movies

Watched Home Alone II last night and was amazed at the violence little Caulkin threw the way of the bad guys. All in good fun of course, but I was thinking hitting the one robber with brick after brick in the head might bother some folks. Man the little kid beat the s*** out of the robbers. I must confess I laughed at the scene where Joe Pesci had his hair on fire. I think it happened in Home Alone the original as well. People that hated the Stooges' violence better be consistent and hate the Home Alone movies. Stooges forever!
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 04:47 PM) My mother in law asked me a few times during the year if I wore watches, liked watches, etc. I told her over and over that I just have never liked wearing watches, so of course she got me a watch. And got mad at me when I didn't wear it after Christmas This is wild. People are nuts. You don't like watches and told her. Is she still mad at you? Did you return the watch? Most reasonable people would say, "If you don't like it, you can return it and get something else, blah blah." I also have always hated watches. I do like wallets however. Only certain kinds though. Just one fold over. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) I had a few things in storage in her basement, because she had a lot of empty space and never went down there. She decided that it would be good fun to go down and wrap up something that I had in storage and give it to me for Christmas. Her hint that she didn't want the stuff down there anymore. Lastly, she used to go to dollar tree and family dollar to buy things for us. Not because she didn't have money - she just didn't want to spend any money on us. What was granny's problem? She never goes in the basement and wants you to clear your stuff out. Like I said people are strange and I know. My mom is certfiably mad. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) When I turned 16, I had an aunt who gave me - wrapped in a shirt box - a Playboy magazine. Which I opened in front of my parents, aunt and uncle, etc. I cannot describe the level of awkward. She thought it was hilarious. This is a cool story. You still remember the story so her gift was a hit. She sounds like a cool person. Live life to the fullest. As far as my worst gift, there have been so many bad ones I don't even know. I know one time I gave my mom a popcorn maker and she was pissed. I think I had the receipt and we were able to take it back. She liked her own way of making popcorn by gosh.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) It's obvious you have not followed the Sox off season, know anything about the players the Sox have acquired or paid attention to any of Hahn's comments so far. You have alot of catching up to do Greg. I saw Hahn's comments. I'm just saying the two Nats pitchers still could be with the team opening day if we want to contend. With Holland that would be Q, Rodon, Holland, two Nats and Shields for bullpen. Not a bad staff. Even if you just want to rush one of the Nats starters it's 'possibly' a playoff staff. Then if we keep all the vets. Frazier at third, Anderson at ss, new superstar at second and Abreu at first. That's a playoff infield. I'll give you props, the rest of the team would be miserable still: Melky, gulp in left; Avi in right, I don't even know who the other outfielder is right now. Albeit that's a miserable outfield. Davidson DH. Narvaez catcher. p.s. Once we dump Melky and Avi ... do we even have bodies to play the outfield? Coats, Liriano, Tilson? To go with our lousy catcher situation and lousy DH situation? We might not win 40 games. Why? Bullpen would be amongst the worst in baseball after dropping robertson and Nate and outfield among the worst in baseball history. However if u keep everybody on the current roster now and add a free agent outfielder, we could make playoffs if Davidson is a great DH.
  25. Hawk is great. Stone is great. That is all. Hawk will go crazy covering only road games. Poor guy. Even good teams can go .500 on the road if they are 20 over at home.
