  1. Now that the Sox have traded DeBong who had surprising power this year and Eloy and Vaughn has only 10 homers, I was wondering ... is this the least amount of homers on a Sox team ever? Or since the mound was raised in the 60s? Let's face facts. Sox are not gonna win many games the rest of the way with this lack of hitting and especially inability to knock a ball over the fense. I'd love to know where our home run totals (especially on the road) rank in baseball this year and rank in Sox history. I'd imagine our team is the worst hitting team and worst HR hitting team in Sox history or definitely since the 60s. The current roster has to be last in all of baseball in HRs and possibly one of the worst in modern history in all of baseball. Peace.
  2. Poor Stoney. Goes from working with a special young announcer who he had great chemistry with to this current guy who did that weird sound after Robert's home run. What a season. Notice how quiet Stoney has been? He's to his credit just doing his job commenting while working with a lesser talent. I've heard some of the Sox on the radio while driving. Great job as far as I can tell as always by true pros Jackson and Kaspar. I'm sure they are all well paid and there are much worse jobs out there like the poor construction workers in 100 degree heat.
  3. Let Hawk Harrelson be interim for grins. He'd at least tell it like it is on a daily basis.
  4. Maybe Thorpe's low velocity will foil his career. He certainly threw some fat slow meatballs up there vs. KC.
  5. Fathom, we all knew it was a perfect storm when we saw the final roster in mid January. We were going into the season weak in all facets of the modern game, facets that on a given night would cost us the game. Hitting: We knew it was bad and we knew during stretches it could be horrendous. Pitching: We knew the bullpen would cost us many many games. The starters albeit OK for a while also would not be reliable. And the defense? With a SS/2B combo of Lopez and DeBong and Mandy at catcher, cmon. So as you said: 'something is seriously wrong,' and that is the constructed roster arguably is the worst in modern baseball history, maybe THE worst active roster in big league history. Thanks Jerry.
  6. So the Royals get four in the ninth to flip the final finger at the woebegone White Sox. I assume the season series is over mercilessly. Sox awaken another team that's been blah for a month or so. This is high comedy. Think of all the ignominy this season. This is as bad as anything before. KC on getaway day says 'We're in no hurry to get out of here. We'll score four more against these bums.' Everybody kicks dirt in the Sox faces. At some point Jerry has to have some pride (no he doesn't; he has the all important buck nestled in his wallet. I know we're immune to losing now. It's changed me as a Sox fan. First season some weird part of my brain wants us to lose now. Thanks Sox (sarcasm) for changing me for the worst. It truly is stealing money from the fans only because the one attraction, the food in the park, is expensive, not cheap. Boo White Sox. Boo.
  7. Vaughn and Sheets are so mediocre to lousy. How could the Sox devote so much time to both without dumping them? Boy they stink as they say. Vaughn seems like a frustrated batter so often. I have a gut feeling he's a good worker and good guy. Just trade him for his own benefit. Geez he is such a lousy hitter.
  8. We can't get swept by another team at home can we? Sox rally hats? This is bizarre.
  9. I still think he should be a catcher. He reminds me of Manny Sanguillen and he has a good arm. Sanguillen was 6-0; Anderson 6-1. Anderson was not a reliable SS. Oh yeah he made his share of spectacular plays but he was the Sox worst shortstop on making random errors since Alan Bannister. I would love for a scout to comment on my Tim Anderson to catcher demands. Just do it, Timmy.
  10. We might win this one. Hey Blanco count the fans for us in the third inning. It shouldn't take long. I wanna hear if there are less than 1,500 or so. Thanx. I predict we win the day game. Royals can't possibly be interested in beating us one more. I'd let DeJong play if the trade is finalized if I were them. They may need some extra incentive and he might lift and pull 2-3 homers. Otherwise I think the Sox beat the Witts, 7-3.
  11. Doesn't Tanner Banks stink? Looks like Sox got a guy who is not as short as Harry Chappas but not real tall or beefy in this lift and pull era. Will he stink or make it?
  12. He was a horrific baseball player for the White Sox. He has been OK at least since returning from his last injury. Orioles need to re-sculpt his body for next season. The guy needs to get in Jermaine Dye shape; Dave Winfield shape to take advantage of that tall body of his. He needs to be in Bo Jackson shape to play the game of baseball effectively. If it's his fault, if he's lazy, shame on him. The O's won't put up with b.s. They'll dump his butt if he doesn't do what they say and become a fierce competitor.
  13. Did it seem like 15,000 were there? I betcha maybe 2000. But I wasn't there to count.
  14. Sox blow another lead. I think after all the trades, the team is actually worse than before in terms of what's in store the final two months. At least DeBong blasted a homer once in a while and Kopech, though awful, occasionally had a fine outing to help us to a few of our 27 wins. Royals got only four hits and still won. Sox helping another team right itself and the Royals have been pretty blah the past several weeks. Not sure why they wanted DeBong in a trade. Royals fans tell me they need a LF. DeBong seems like he's only good defensively at SS to me. Bobby Witt doesn't need many days off. If he plays 3B he better concentrate more. 2B they have Massey and DeBong has more pop in his bat than Massey. Should be interesting to see if DeBong beats out Massey for the final 8 weeks. Well the Sox stink. We know that. 16 in a row to go with the 14-gamer in May. Can u believe two stretches of a record of 0-30? Also the team has no come from behind wins after 7 right? Go Sox!
  15. Vargas highlight reels look good by the way. Since Pham is just another guy and Kopech nothing special, and Fedde a nice reclamation project gone good (could go bad any time) that trade might be OK. Vargas might be what Moncada wanted to be. He's young and looks good in a uniform. Getz called him one of the brightest young bats in the game. This trade might be OK cause those guys the Sox gave up were nothing to lose sleep over. Sox are due to have a prospect excel. Maybe Vargas will be the answer in the corner outfield.
  16. I know I'm not witty. I know my place and censor myself so I never get suspended again.
  17. I won't watch a minute of the Games. I won't say why. I do enjoy Simone Biles though. She is the best gymnast of all time. I'll watch highlights but not live.
  18. Royals announcers calling it their best win of the season. 10-1 versus the Sox. I listened to the late inning carnage while driving. On Sirius so the Sox announcers. This one had a feel of a victory and then the implosion. Embarrassing bullpen performance. The KC announcers said the Sox had the second worse defense in the AL. Hilarious how a good player like Witt owns the worst team in baseball. He's smart to take advantage of all those at bats against the Sickening Sox.
  19. You can't see greg's opinion if he doesn't understand the trade.
  20. So where will Vargas be starting tomorrow for the Sox? What position? Is he gonna be special as a Sox? No more Nicky/DeBong?
  21. I'm so baseball dumb I can't figure out who got traded for whom.
  22. Fair enuf, but being this bad is really historic. Many of us on here expected about 40-45 wins cause we knew any team with DeBong and Nicky as our ss/2b combo was gonna be historically bad. Any team relying on Eloy, Robert, Vaughn and Sheets also was in historically bad category. Finally thinking Maldy could be on more than a 45-win team, no way So you are right. We knew but some Soxtalkers saw a scenario with way more than 40-45 wins.
  23. Royals usually get well when they play the Sox. They are scuffling a bit so that'd be very funny if they once again maul the Sox,
  24. Geez by this stage of DeBong's career u'd think everything that could be known bout him is known.
  25. Are the fans booing at least? Maybe not cause they know when they get up and go to the park odds of an L are pretty good.
