QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:58 AM) Cleveland and Boston are bad teams. New York, Kansas City ans St Louis are good. You're looking at the reality here of this ballclub. They're just......bad, and forgettable like past seasons. Please stop acting as if everyone was fooled, when many here were not Tizzle, were u really convinced the Sox really sucked when they got to one under .500 the other day?? With our starting pitching and closer? With the improved defense and Melky carrying the team? How could u be convinced the team wasn't starting to gel?? This team needs to suck it up and win the next 2 games of this HOME series. Not that difficult to avoid 4-to-8 game losing streaks!!!!
-
I refuse to take this laying down. Sox HAVE to win tomorrow and avoid the dreaded 3-game losing streak. This is not how sports work. Teams don't go on streak after streak in opposite directions. Wake up, White Sox! With my boy, Danks, going, it could easily be a replay of tonight. Why are the Sox suddenly s*** in the Cell (last homestand and this one)?

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:39 AM) You're not confused, you're awake now. The only confusion about this team was the last week, and it was foolish to believe a half season of futility should be overlooked for a 7-1 run. They looked GREAT. Teams have gone on amazing runs before during the second half. Seemed like this team finally was gelling. How could we not be fooled? Yes, it sure looks like Baltimore and Toronto are gonna roll the second half.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:33 AM) Blue Jays win. Mob scene in Toronto. Questionable balk call moved over Tulo to 2nd, Donaldson drove him in. Fwiw, they still didn't have 30,000 on a Friday night after adding Price/Tulo in the span of less than one week against the best team in the AL, arguably. Does anybody up there care bout baseball much? It's all hockey, baby.

QUOTE (RaySox @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) It is quite difficult to not get overly excited in that situation. We thought they finally figured it out Plus we were MURDERING teams. I swear I'm going to freak if they drop 6-8 in a row again. Is it so hard to not be streaky? With this pitching staff, one of the 5 is supposed to put an end to losing streaks before they begin. OK one of the four.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:12 AM) Well, I hope all of you riding the last week's win streak have sobered up. Thankfully we have Shark to finish out the remainder of the season. I'm sure he'll win us just enough games to lose a few draft positions How the heck else should we have acted last week? When the Sox are winning they look like pennant winners. Then they lose a game and can't ever stop it at one. Now we've dropped two in a row and nobody would be surprised to see it four after this weekend. Weird ass team that nobody can ever figure out.
-
Oh well. I'm too confused by this team to be real negative any more. Now we're three below .500 again. Rodon gets rocked by a good team. Danks could have the same fate tomorrow and we be four under. Whatever will be will be. ...

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) This angers me. It just isnt logical. How does he think we will continue to win 7 out of 8 games the rest of the way through? Cause this team did it again. It crept back close to .500 (I realize it actually hit .500 once). It can't drop the next four and fall six back again, can it??

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) why is ted cruz a lock to get the nomination? He's the only electable republican.
-
Cruz was on the radio late last night and said he's looking forward to debating Hillary. He said his parents filed for bankruptcy when he was in high school and he just paid off his student loans six years ago. Meanwhile the Clintons are rolling in dough. He also really attacked Hillary and Bill's ethics. Should be interesting if he's that vicious during the real debates. He's obviously a lock to get the nomination.

White Sox make no trades at the deadline.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) I was hoping they'd get a good outfielder to replace Garcia, someone like Reddick, Parra, Gomez or Puig. After doing that, was hoping they might replace Flowers with AJ. Now watch them lose the series to the Yankees. No biggie. If Sox were going to sell they should have done it after that four game losing streak rite before this winning streak. If the Yankees win all 3 and Sox fall five back again, that would be par for the course. But maybe the team will surprise us and keep building on the 7-1 road trip. We shall see. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) Not disappointed...if they keep playing well the next two weeks, I'm sure they'll add another bat if needed. I agree. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) I like it. You can't give up on the team by trading Samardzija, but you can't trust this team so much that you'll pay big for a rental. If they traded Shark weeks ago, they could have gotten 3 top notch prospects probably. But let's say Sox traded him yesterday or today for a couple prospects. That basically would have been a white flag trade. Maybe it would have been great for the team's future, but if Erik Johnson sucked, the Sox would basically be white flagging the work they did last offseason in putting together what they think is a playoff team. Even though I love Danks, if I were the Sox, I'd bring up E. Johnson and insert him into the rotation for Danks right now. I'd also bring up Davidson and take the risk and insert him at third. What if he's the power bat we need? If Johnson is great that'll be the added boost the team needs. I have no idea what you then do with Danks.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) How about if cops stop trying to milk the citizenry with minor traffic infractions and just concentrate on legit bad people? A lot of police departments have quotas for cops to reach, a certain number of traffic tickets have to be handed out to get that cash flow. Cops are out there looking FOR ANY REASON to stop people and look for any reason to give you a ticket instead of a actually doing what they're supossed to do, serve and protect, they're more into shaking you down than anything else. Source; A former CA police officer who was married to a cousin of mine. I agree. I've been stopped several times late at night after working for basically no reason. "Rolling" a stop sign when there's basically no traffic. They are looking for drunk drivers. Somehow they believe me and have never tested me even though I sometimes get nervous talking to cops. But the stops are unnecessary.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) 1. Linda Tripp? Really I'm sure she has great insights into them. 2. I will absolutely f***ing not read the Daily Mail, they are a complete and utter fraud, they literally steal other people's work and pass it off as their own and anyone on Earth who links to them should be embarrassed. Actually this time the Post rewrote the Mail story, in effect borrowing from them. Vice versa. This Hillary thing is getting scary. The country can't see her blind ambition to be coronated. And our country's voters have proven how dumb they can be. In Kansas they reelected Brownback despite him being in the news every day for his policies that have ruined a once great state. Yet during the s***storm they reelect Brownback in a landslide. Crazy country we live in. Please look into Hillary more before giving her her crown that she feels she's entitled to.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Thank God. No offense to Cespedes. Great player I agree. This is what you don't want. Getting down to the last hour and freaking out and overpaying for a bat. If you were going to make a trade you had to do it several days before today. I mean, cmon, I'd hate to have our GM overpay for a rental. That'd be crazy with Texas, Toronto and Baltimore on paper way better than the Sox. Sox just have to keep playing good ball and see if last season's acquisitions plus Rodon and Saladino were enough.
-
Great initial post to this thread. I do agree they probably should have made a trade. But I also agree I'd hate to see any of the Sox "name" prospects gone for a rental. It's kind of buzzkill to not make any changes at all when Baltimore and Toronto and Texas added guys. I will say this ... it's up to the team right now to remove that buzzkill. The team just won 7 of 8 on the road. If it could win the Yankee series at home and continue to hit a bit, there still could be some excitement in the Cell. Saladino is a recent addition and the new Sanchez is almost like an entirely new player. Ditto Melky. Even Rodon appears a new guy the last 3 starts.
-
Royals should be scared to death of the Blue Jays. This should continue to take pressure off this hot White Sox team cause now the Blue Jays are so much better on paper than anybody. Sox can't be worried about WC now with Toronto adding all these all stars.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) Yeah, forget about it. The Sox aren't making a move. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 3s4 seconds ago With way #Royals, up 11 1/2 games on #WhiteSox, improved (Cueto/Zobrist), Sox almost certainly playing for wild-card only. Interesting they didn't trade Shark. They obviously think Saladino/Sanchez have settled things down defensively and are willing to see if the improved team is for real. If they can keep doing what they've been doing the last week they will contend. Can't blame them for letting this season play out. Hopefully in the offseason they can get rid of LaRoche and acquire a starter to make up for the loss of Shark.

Thanks for the amazing audio. Listen to the crowd in the clips from 1977. The crowds were so much louder in Old Comiskey.

OK folks, read this latest bash of Hillary from Linda Tripp ... "four years of Bill; four years of Hill." It says she'd do anything to win. Hmmm http://nypost.com/2015/07/28/linda-tripp-b...ads-on-hillary/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-31...-President.html Please read the Daily Mail story. It portrays Hillary as an unethical person who like I've said before wants her "coronation" as president because she is entitled to it. How can our counry elect this person?? Is our country that misguided??

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:27 PM) Trainwreck was good but geez Apatow, trim your comedies down a bit. Over two hours is too long and it dragged a bit. Exactly. It was a little too long, 15-20 minutes too long. I was getting antsy about the time Marv Albert and company appeared in a needless scene. I also thought the scene at the end was a little too long. I agree with you completely. It was getting to the point the movie being a tad bit too long was starting to ruin it for me. I definitely think the length of the movie would make me give it a B-plus or B instead of an A-minus. -- I'm thinking Vacation will not be that funny. Hope I'm wrong.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 04:19 AM) He was so bad at 3B they moved him to 1B where he is probabky worse than Dunn. Can't acquire him then unless he's DH rest of the year.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:48 AM) A couple things in his defense, before I mention I hope he is in prison for a long time. There have been many studies how wrong people get chains of events in their mind. It seemed this all happened in less than a second. He truly may have felt threatened for that second. He could not identify the person. The guy could have been a criminal with warrants. But again, I'm guessing a middle aged white guy who forgot his license would be alive today. On the b.s. side, the cop was fishing for something bigger than no front license plate. Good post again IMO by Tex. I was appalled when he shot the driver. I mean shoot the f***ing tires of the car! The police officer had time to disable the car or do something besides kill the guy. I mean seriously. The officer could have run to the front and back tires and blown the s*** out of them with his gun in a matter of seconds, then begin a pursuit. But noooo ... he has to kill the guy. There are alternatives to blowing away people for SMALL crimes, especially when unarmed.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Someone pointed out to me over twitter a few months ago that no one can remember the last time the phrase "Politically correct" was used in any way other than by a white person complaining about how they got in trouble for saying something ridiculous/racist/specifically hurtful to some group. Thing is, a guy like Hulk Hogan should pull a Trump and fight back. Rodman and George Foreman and some others were supporting him. I'd hold a news conference if I were Hulk and bring my African American friends and fight back! I'd say, "I said that s*** seven years ago and didn't f***ing mean it. Grow up, America. My buddies here will attest I am NOT a racist. I was drunk and said some stupid s***; my bad. At the same time, f*** You all. I am Hulk Hogan!" I mean they never fight back after making a mistake. Trump fought back as did Limbaugh. I think it's awesome they fight back. Trump won't win but he does tell people to go f*** themselves and that's cool. Think of how he handled his statements about Mexican immigrants to USA. First of all he claims he was misquoted and doesn't think all Mexican people are bad. Then he gets irritated and basically tells his critics to go f*** themselves. That's impressive. Most people would cower and bow out of the race at that point. He rips Macy's for dumping him instead of begging Macy's forgiveness! That is AWESOME stuff. I'm not totally sold on Trump's personality. He's admitted to being a "con artist" type in over-valuing his properties and lying to people, etc. He's probably a ruthless jerk to work for, etc. But at this time I think a lot of people like the fact he kicks ass rather than letting the media storm turn him into a cowering baby like Hulk Hogan. Fight back, Hulk. p.s. I doubt I'd vote for Trump but I like what I've heard so far.
