  1. Some great posts on this thread I can't even comment on all of them. Great stuff, folks. I will say it's going to be weird when we have a GOOD team again. I mean the team has shown signs the last few years, the nights the Sox bring it. The overall record hasn't been god-awful, but the team has been (unfortunately not Joe) maddening the last few seasons. Even Ozzie's last team or two was bizarre in the way it lost games. I have to be a fan, it's in my blood, but again ... I'm gonna be so happy when the team gets legitimately good again. Sorry to say that WILL NEVER happen UNTIL the defense improves (to go with pitching as least as good on paper as this year's club). It just won't. When you have a crappy defensive team you are going to be .500 at best.
  2. I wonder how Micah is hitting in the minors. The shine on his star is definitely faded after that medicore showing in his debut (following all the raving by Hawk last season).
  3. No biggie. I wish they'd send him down. It's like he's on the team, but really isn't. He hasn't been overly impressive, either. His stuff hasn't been explosive by any stretch. I despise Noesi and am not a Carroll fan, but can't we pick up a Chen type off the scrap heap and have him be No. 5 this year. SEND RODON DOWN for proper seasoning.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 23, 2015 -> 02:33 AM) Bob James says hello. Bob James? You Bob James, are no Robertson. Knew it was joke, impressed u recalled James though.
  5. I worship Robertson. Best closer we've ever had in our lifetimes (when healthy knock on wood). So glad we beat this s***ty Twins team at home, which we should do 90 percent of the time. Soto and Shuck and Shark, oh my!
  6. Do the Sox front office types ever do their homework and project correctly? I mean, couldn't they watch EXTENSIVE tape of LaRoche and study perhaps 200 of last year's at bats during the cold winter months and project that maybe they should pass on a guy like that? What else the f*** do they have to do in the winter? Study some film. Call some sabes guys you trust, Bill James disciples. Have some meetings. Then Make some correct decisions. Shouldn't they study a Flowers, all his at bats from a year ago and say, 'You know what? He can't hit.' Shouldn't they study 200 at bats of Melky closely and deduce he's nothing special as well? Ditto all the subs they picked up like Boni and Shuck? And ugh, Soto?? And determine Gillaspie is just another guy? I have nothing against LaRoche but I would think a detailed study of last year's at bats (how he tries to pull everything and couple that with his age) would tell an organization, "He's not the answer." The Sox get what they deserve. I'm finally to the point I'd rather see a parade of young players from our gulp, minor league system, or somebody else's play until they fail. Then move on to the next guy. I don't care if Davidson fails. I'd rather see him get called up and given a chance than watch veterans suck.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 22, 2015 -> 01:35 AM) Time to wonder is Minn going to sweep again against the hitless wonders. Somebody needs to write a thesis or long essay on WHY the White Sox are perennial patsies to Minn, Cle, KC and Detroit and send Greg a copy ASAP!
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2015 -> 03:25 AM) Before firing Ventura, I would can the hitting coach first to see if someone else can help these hitters. It's unimaginable that 8 of them could be underachieving this much. I have four words. Call.Big.Frank.NOW!!!! Hire him the rest of the season.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 22, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) This team on offense gives fans no reason to attend or watch. Diehards only at this point. Just saw the box score and caught up on the game and thought the same thing. This team, until further notice, is the worst in the Central cause it CANNOT beat anybody in the fricking Central. It's just insanely unbelievable. Teams like this attract only the diehards. Nobody that is not a diehard would go to the Cell this summer more than 1-2 times max.

Letterman's final show was really good TV. The final montage was great and the show was funny. The Dave/Taco Bell skit, which was shown, is a great all-time bit.
  11. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 21, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Forgive me if this has been discussed, but are all these Hillary quotes true I just read somewhere? I think they came from people that worked on Clinton's staff etc. They make her sound like a horrible human being. Just looking for the real scoop on all that. Thanks, D. Put it this way. Nobody's going out of their way to say she's a peach of a human being. Where there's smoke, there's fire. We went through this discussion before and somebody on here was kind enough to post all the negative quotes and debate the accuracy of them. I mean if Hillary Clinton had a great personality, we'd know about it. I'm not going to call her a b****, but I'd like to watch a debate on this issue between people who know her. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) I'm not sure you can be a successful politician without being a horrible human being. Obama seems like a nice guy.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) I blame Robin. He doesn't get into Abreu's face after a bad AB. Show some fire. Show some passion. Your good posts get overshadowed by your whiny posts IMO. At least put green on these type comments to show a sense of humor. Since you brought it up, Robin pretty much deserves a C- for his overall body of work with the Sox IMO and that's being an easy grader.
  13. If the Sox lose 3 out of 4 at home to Cleveland, that's really really bad. It's almost as bad as losing four of four at Minnesota. What is with this team? Are they really gonna give back three games of the six-game win streak to a s*** team? Must win tonight.
  14. It's funny cause Obama is just like most of us. He loves the White Sox, wants the Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls to win but the Cubs just don't interest him. That's certainly how I am. I just can't follow the Cubs. I have no interest even though they are a Chicago team and them winning would be good for the entire city.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:40 AM) If you don't believe in Petricka or Putnam, why are they even on the roster? Just for mop up? Does Ventura even look at the splits for Jennings? You just can't give up 3 runs in that inning. As Farmer and DJ always say, runs scored by the opposition from the 7th inning on have a way of coming back to bite you in the end. That was especially the case tonight. And Conor's got to be a bit more patient in that situation. The pressure's 100% on the pitcher. Same with Avi. I sure don't believe in Petricka or Putnam? Both are not the answer.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:38 AM) Keep losing to crap teams. Sox don't like playing those Central teams.
  17. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:41 AM) the winning streak already feels like a really long time ago... The board has some perceptive people. It sure does. Won six in a row. Lost two ... and counting? We gonna give all six back? QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:55 AM) "Oh well" sounds like the perfect marketing slogan/tagline for Sox fandom these days. Amen, brother. That's what we have done as fans for several years in a row now. "It's still early" you know? QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 05:15 AM) Shaun Marcum picked up his first win in two years he was 1-10 with the Mets in 2013 and J. Ramirez was hitting .185 with an ugly .237 OBP before reaching four times tonight This happens to the Sox way too often. Another great comment. I mean, why the Sox? Against Marcum??? At home? Oh well, we're only one below .500 which is this team's ceiling.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) Very little urgency Sox remain bizarre. All those comeback wins, then tonight again. I guess that's the definition of a perennial .500 to .485 team.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:32 AM) I wish our guys would take pitches like this. That's why it sucks to have a team that rarely draws walks. In this day and age of asshole umpires who squeeze when they want to squeeze, it helps if you'll take some pitches and draw some walks. Why do umpires love to squeeze pitchers? It's very boring. Make batters hit or ring them up. Geezus.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:44 AM) So many holes on this team. I don't blame Robin for starting Jennings this inning, problem is to many players just aren't good on this roster right now. Yeah, our bullpen is starting to look more like past years, except for the amazing closer of course.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 20, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) have you not paid attention to American politics for the last six years? By "hard to believe" I meant I find it amazing or impossible to believe Republicans are against affordable health care for people. I mean it's not their fricking money. Do something for people, Mr. Brownback.
  22. Thanks Balta and Caulfield for finally putting some specifics. I am all for continued health care. I find it hard to believe all Republican candidates are against that but after seeing Brownback in action I can believe anything. Thing is, we don't need Hillary for that. Other Demo candidates if they chose to run would also be in favor of Obama's plan continuing.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) This is a well cited and convincing case. You have supported this with a huge amount of detail, enough to convince anyone who is skeptical of what you say. No offense to you at all, but whenever I post something mean about Hilly and ask questions of people, I get nothing in return. I'm a little concerned that voters indeed are tossing her the Oval Office as some sort of appreciation gift for her merely being 68-69 years old. A lifetime achievement award. Nobody will take me up on my questions about a.) why she should be president and b.) how happy you will be (and why you will be elated) on Election Day when the Republican candidate gives his/her concession speech.
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 19, 2015 -> 11:54 PM) A Giants fan in L.A. and a Yankees fan in Boston or vice versa is in more danger than Sox on Sox chippiness. But yes I have also been harassed although in stadium not to the point of being followed and harassed. It was during a Sox/Dodgers game with my 2 children ,who were visiting from Arizona (their home with their mother) and my father (visiting from Chicago) a very rare occurrence that all 4 of us were in the same place together. So odd that just rooting for your team in a foreign stadium and wearing the colors can provoke people to harass a man with his children and their grandfather. Young men can be so irrational. Nothing major happened thankfully but what should 've been an enjoyable time ended up pissing me off . Man, what a story. Very sad that this goes on in sports stadiums. Let's face it. Sports are not healthy in many ways. Obsessed fans threatening people; riots after teams win (or lose) championship games. Very sick when sports fans go to extremes. I mean your story is amazing. A grandpa and little kids and fans still freak out just cause you are wearing the opponents' jersey? f***brains.
  25. I'd trade him to the Royals in a deal involving Colon and maybe two good minor league pitchers.
