  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) So I can't enjoy a White Sox game because a few people want to poop all over everything? Got it. Yup that's what I said. But thank you for making everyone read you going back and forth with him for 10 or so posts because I'm sure that's what everyone reading this thread was looking forward to.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) Here's my message: The "he'll give the lead right back" and "we don't have a chance" and "this game is over" posts are annoying and make it unbearable to read the game threads. Is that clear enough for you? It's a game thread. Get over it. If it annoys you then don't bother reading it.
  3. So what's the best trading site to use for someone who is just going to be a casual investor?
  4. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) I'm surprised. I figured he would have gotten suspended for a couple of games, but then again, I didn't read too much into the whole story. Good for Jimbo. Regardless, that will be a big loss on the field (even if you guys have depth to fill the void). It's a big loss in the return game. But honestly, the defense is so loaded this year that we should be fine, especially since whoever they plug in at the second corner gets to play across from Xavier Rhodes
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) I do, but when the rules of this thread were specifically to use spoilers until the event airs live, I would assume that everyone can follow a simple request. Its just like using spoilers for a TV show for the first 24 hours, its a courtesy to other readers. As I said, Im not going to ESPN, Im not going to Yahoo. If this thread was filled with spoilers, i wouldnt come here either. That being said, the US Olympic feed just sent out a spoiler, at minimum youd think theyd be on the same page with NBC. I've only popped in and out of this thread so I didn't know we had established rules. At any rate, if I didn't want to know I personally just wouldn't have come in here. Same reason i avoid the TV thread if there was a show on I missed and had to DVR. Just seems the b****ing in general (not necessarily here) about people "spoiling results" has gotten quite absurd this Olympics
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) I thought this thread was going to use spoiler tags until event is aired prime time. Frustrating. I can't believe people are upset about this. The event happened. People shouldnt have to tip toe around results for 5 hours. If you don't want to know results, avoid things like ESPN, twitter, facebook this thread etc...
  7. Too bad they weren't discussing him 24 hours ago
  8. I'm going to Baltimore for the first time in about a month so I'd be curious about Camden Yards myself
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) OMG, one of the best books Ive ever read, but f*** that ending. I also just finished the last Hunger games book, wow, talk about someone in a hurry to wrap everything up, pathetic. Yeah ending kinda pissed me off. Supposedly he already has a couple hundred pages done that he removed from this book, so at least he already has a conclusion to the loose ends and we don't have to worry about him dragging it out in the next book.
  10. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) His WHIP might be higher than his ERA over that span. Make no mistake - he has been awful. Weird season for him. Someone's cereal certainly got pissed in this morning
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) What have his K numbers been like recently? 4 in his last 7 games (31 PA) 8 in his last 10 games (43 PA) Only 1 multi-strikeout game in last 10 games (6BB:8K) .351/.442/.730/1.172 over the stretch
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) Men's Olympic soccer is under-23 teams, with 3 older exceptions. Spain losing to Honduras is a huge upset, but it's not the World/Euro champion team, it's mostly different players. The tourney format sucks too. Asia & Africa have the same amount of teams as Europe, and twice as many as South America. That just leads to crappy soccer. Yeah there's really no excuse for CAF/AFC to get 3.5 spots while UEFA gets only 3 and CONCACAF/CONMEBOL 2 a piece But as for Spain-Honduras, that still is a really big upset. Spain has some players who already play major minutes at top Euro clubs.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:46 AM) "Nobody cares about your fantasy team." -Everyone
  14. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) correct grienke talks are dead At that price, thank God. Hope it stays that way
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) 27 world championships Most recognizable team in all of sports. Packed house every night. Off the charts merchandise sales. Their own TV network. Come on. They're the best organization in all of American sports and it's not even close. They are actually run quite poorly. If they only had $100M to work with they'd be screwed. Just look at how many free agent signings have completely blown up on them
  16. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) Why? You seemed to always be right on. That's unfortunate but definitely understand. Probably because the last couple times he did he got jumped all over by some people who thought he was just making stuff up
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 12:23 AM) Youkilis and Quintana (back) to Yankees for Chavez, Betances/Banuelos and another 3-7 prospect in their top 10 Beckham to 3B, acquire either Weeks/Greinke from Milwaukee OR Acquire Hernandez/Ackley from Seattle for all the Yankees prospects, Reed/Jones, Thompson/Mitchell/Walker We would be getting royally screwed. Banuelos has been out since early this year with some sort of elbow injury and Betances has been pretty awful in the minors. Both of their prospect statuses have taken major hits this year
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) Well, we all know how awesome Peavy is in postseason/tiebreak games. It's unlikely that the Sox would be in a position to shuffle their rotation around to line up the starter they want for that one game anyways. Based on a whole 2 games?
  19. The more i'm hearing about the potential packages we might have to give up, the more I'm hoping we don't land Greinke
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Outfielders from both teams are having big problems today. I wonder what it is out there. It's Bluegrass out there
  21. Damnit! If only we had Juan Pierre to platoon against RHP!
  22. Eovaldi was the Dodgers #3 prospect heading into the year. I don't know what their system is ranked but that seems like he's at least a decent return. The other guy doesn't look like anything special though
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Which is why I typed that last sentence in my post that you quoted. Seeing him doing well, yes i can read. You must have a different criteria for doing well then
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 01:33 AM) 38th round draft pick Keegan Linza, converted to a starter, sporting a 7.3 K/9 vs 0.7 K/9 (yes, less than 1), for a better than 10:1 K:BB. Also inducing ground balls at a good rate. Core numbers are decent, especially for that league. Old for level, but, still fun to see a guy drafted that low do well. He's 24 in rookie ball with an ERA over 4 and allowing over a hit per inning. I wouldn't exactly be excited over that
