This. If it costs $100-150m to run a team at all, then many markets can't just spend 70%+ of revenue on payroll and stay afloat. And going by these numbers, the Dodgers' payroll is higher than the total revenue of all but NYY and BOS. So every other team could spend every dollar of revenue on players, in a magical world with no other operating costs, and still couldn't afford the Dodgers' payroll.

Caleb Bonemer (BA #27) 88. Hagen Smith (BA #91) So no top 30 overalls in Pipeline but 2 in BA. No 90+ guys in Pipeline, but 3 in BA (counting McDougal, who didn't make the Pipeline list). Pipeline has Sox tied for 9th in "prospect points" (100 for rank 1, 99 for rank 2, etc.)

Not sure exactly where to share this, but there had been some chatter about LA's media deal situation and whether/why other teams can/'t just match their spending. The full video is a pretty efficient summary of how they've snowballed into their current superteam state.

You do get the impression they've invested more in their international resources when Keller's citing bat speed numbers of a Dominican teenager lol Keller sounds really high on Valdez, 6'4"/200 with 109+ exit velos already and he says he's hit a HR at every in person look.
