  1. Going more than 5 innings and not walking everyone.
  2. I think Cease's 2022 is such an outlier that it should be dismissed. I'd have to see him average over 96 mph again to believe that 2023 isn't what he is going forward. If the Sox were Baltimore and Baltimore were the Sox, I'd hard pass on acquiring him unless I wasn't giving up any T100 guys. I'm open to the idea that I'm wrong here, but if I were Baltimore someone like Hall would be the top piece in a deal from my perspective.
  3. I just don't value what he brings. He's Rich Harden if Harden could stay healthy.
  4. Yes we are. Cease has pitched in parts of 5 seasons Are we now pretending like 2019 and 2020 didn't happen because they weren't full seasons?
  5. I hate that I agree with you so much. But then again, the Sox were able to get Quero for Giolito when I thought he was just going to be a salary dump.
  6. Because he's not been close to that type of pitcher any other time in his career. It was fueled by an unsustainable strand rate.
  7. Think of what Cease did outside of 2022 and that's probably closer to his value. What would you give up for his 2021 and 2023?
  8. Could it be possible that Cease is viewed a lot less favorably by the other 29 clubs than he is on this board? Could be that teams are only willing to give up one back end T100 guy as the centerpiece and the rest of the deal will be lottery tickets. What I'm getting at is that Maybe Cease's value is closer to the deals that Bowden suggested for the Sox.
  9. That was Alex Colome, not Jesus.
  10. They could threaten the 1962 Mets
  11. Sox don't have enough pitching IMO. They need everything. Eder and Nastrini aren't as good as Smith-Shawver and Waldrep. Schultz is still 2+ years away.
  12. I don't understand why they're holding guys like Kjerstad and Ortiz when they're blocked. Makes no sense. Also, the Sox might want pitching back for Cease which is why they're more interested in Smith-Shawver and Waldrep.
  13. Jerry hacked Ron's account lol
  14. You know my belief about budgets. Not spending money on free agency is a choice, not a necessity. If they want me to believe otherwise, open the damn books and prove it.
  15. I actually think you get a better return with more teams involved rather than limited options and a desperate team. Every year I wonder why trades even happen in the offseason because it only costs money to sign free agents. It always makes more sense to just sign players.
  16. @Y2Jimmy0 Are they deep in talks with the O's? I'd be over the moon if they got Kjerstad and Hall in the package.
  17. Forgot about him for a moment, so yeah him too.
  18. This. I'm expecting everyone other than Moncada and Robert with a significant salary to get traded.
  19. They're never going to get it right. They're cursed. They will go a century without one. It will be 2050, I will be in my 60s or dead and they still won't have a franchise QB. They will get one after we're all dead. Think of how many people lived and died as Cub fans never seeing them win a WS. This is our curse as Bear fans.
  20. Or you could think that none of the QBs in this draft are special. I'm not a Fields fan, he's unclutch and fumbles too much, but I don't think any of the QBs are any better than Fields. I think Fields has a floor of average and he might not get any better than that, but you have to admit he's had two absolute dipshits calling plays for him and still has shown growth. I don't think he's the guy either, but if they start over you're probably gonna get Zach Wilson and that's worse.
  21. presser at 4pm per Ben Pope
