  1. 30 teams can legitimately afford it. It's that they won't commit to spending it. I will continue to believe this until the owners open up their books to the players and prove otherwise.
  2. When I said Robert is not Juan Soto I was talking about the package the Padres gave up to get him, not what Soto would be worth this offseason. I don't think Robert right now would get the equivalent package that the Padres gave up for Soto. There's not enough of a track record.
  3. I'm talking about what Moncada, Kopech and Basabe were thought of as prospects in 2017. Not what they ended up being. So you're talking a top 5 prospect in the game, a top 40 prospect in the game, a top 150-175 guy and an interesting pitcher. Does that make more sense?
  4. No way, think of the Sale deal. That's the most realistic package. Robert is not Juan Soto.
  5. I think that if they could get a deal similar to the Sale package, Getz should pull the trigger.

  7. Less money and only a 1 year commitment rather than two
  8. I'm kinda expecting a Moncada for Salvy Perez deal.
  9. Anyway, seems like a junk for junk deal but its a lot of filler for a team that needs it.
  10. Jim Callis was on Sox Machine and said he'd take Eder over Burger. Thinks Burger is who he was on the Sox.
  11. Which day of the Winter Meetings is the lottery?
  12. Given how Giolito produced after the trade, a bag of balls would've been more appropriate. They got a coup in that trade. (Though idk if Ky Bush ever turns out to be anything)
  13. I keep lying to myself and telling myself that this is the thing that's going to get me to stop paying attention but I'm the biggest sucker on earth, as I try to do mental gymnastics to convince myself that Getz is not just a continuation of the previous FO.
  14. I guess saying if I was an opposing team I wouldn't trade anything but a bag of balls was hyperbole, but I agree with Balta about Cease's value.
  15. Seidler was one of the better owners in baseball.
  16. Scott Boras/Jerry
  17. You know what, you're right about this one. Castillo is a really good comp for Cease because he was as inconsistent as Cease was but with premium stuff. What was the deal for him I forget? I think Castillo had a little more control than Cease does but I could be wrong. The major difference between Castillo and Cease is that I think Castillo had more good seasons than Cease did.
  18. Think about what the Cubs got for Yu Darvish. That's about the best you could do.
  19. Cease has had one good year and is otherwise basically Javy Vazquez. How did you feel about Vazquez?
  20. Did you read the Orioles board linked? They don't even want to trade Kjerstad straight up for Cease. If I were not a fan of the Sox I wouldn't be interested in acquiring him for anything more than a bag of baseballs.
  21. Be prepared to be disappointed in the return.
  22. They're a downgrade from GarPax imo.
  23. I'm with Balta. Eloy is basically DH Anderson.
