  1. The White Sox made news weeks ago that they were starting to scout Japan more extensively than ever before and just recently landed the top bat from Japan. Why wouldn’t it make sense to use the White Sox as leverage in trying to juice up a final contract for Imai? This is Boras we are talking about. He plays these games all the time.
  2. He was unwell. He needed a colonoscopy from all of those cheesy beefs blocking him up.
  3. The Sox had a live press conference for the signing of a player to a 2-year, $34 million dollar deal. They were likely playing to the Japanese market but just put it into perspective compared to when other teams do this for big signings.
  4. The fact that Imai’s agent is Boras is what makes me think this is all a sham. It is likely what @fathom said and simply an attempt to get other teams (Cubs?) to raise their final offer. And surprise, Murakami’s agent just happened to be Casey Close whom the Sox have a good record of working with (Benintendi).
  5. Here are some words from the man himself (not specific to the White Sox). Didn’t realize Boras was his agent.
  6. No one must be offering him a long-term contract just like Murakami if a 3-year deal makes them a frontrunner.
  7. The headline of the Yahoo Japan article translated to English… ”The Imai & Murakami tag team is a possibility! The White Sox, aiming to rebuild their team and acquire Tatsuya Imai, have suddenly emerged as a strong contender.”
  8. Mike Tyson recently said that he “followed the script” in his match with Paul so I just assumed they were all completely fake.
  9. A Robert + Leasure to the Mets trade could be interesting, but not for Luisangel Acuna.
  10. I normally get mad at grammar errors when people don’t use a period at the end of a sentence. 🤣😉
  11. Which probably means it is some combination of the Reds not wanting to give up that much talent and/or the Sox not wanting to eat $10 million, since they haven’t agreed to a deal yet.
  12. Has that rumor been of whom Getz is looking to acquire or whom the Reds are offering?
  13. NBC Sports is reporting otherwise, per a Yahoo Japan article. Since I can’t read the article, here is what they said: https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/baseball/player-news?playerNewsId=0000019b-6b62-d35e-a1bf-6fe25b5c0000 Here is what MLB Trade Rumors is saying: “Kazuma Okamoto Travels To U.S. For In-Person Meetings With Teams”
  14. Okamoto is in the US this week for final in-person meetings. He has meetings set up with the Blue Jays, Cubs, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Padres, Angels, and Pirates. No mention of the White Sox. https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/b15139f58e9e44f3d810871e2b180ac211726231
  15. Yep. I don’t see the Reds happening.
  16. Here’s the blurb from Wittenmeyer’s 12/27 article: ”The Bleday trade offers at least a platoon option and potential upside play for the Reds, who continue to look for reliable pop for the middle of the lineup (including staying in contact with the White Sox on a possible Robert trade).”
  17. Wittenmeyer won’t give up on this rumor.
  18. Agreed. Collinsworth was dead wrong with his “plenty of time” nonsense.
  19. What a painful final play. And Burden might be hurt.
  20. Brutal display by the defense today. Caleb has to score a TD with 2:15 left and 3 timeouts.
  21. Some of the ugliest missed tackles you’ll ever see. Bears making Purdy look like Joe Montana.
  22. It could never be clean enough. Even after sitting in one of those boiling torture pots from the show Shogun.
  23. Way too easy. Sweat got faked out of his shoes.
