The White Sox made news weeks ago that they were starting to scout Japan more extensively than ever before and just recently landed the top bat from Japan. Why wouldn’t it make sense to use the White Sox as leverage in trying to juice up a final contract for Imai? This is Boras we are talking about. He plays these games all the time.

He was unwell. He needed a colonoscopy from all of those cheesy beefs blocking him up.

The Sox had a live press conference for the signing of a player to a 2-year, $34 million dollar deal. They were likely playing to the Japanese market but just put it into perspective compared to when other teams do this for big signings.

The fact that Imai’s agent is Boras is what makes me think this is all a sham. It is likely what @fathom said and simply an attempt to get other teams (Cubs?) to raise their final offer. And surprise, Murakami’s agent just happened to be Casey Close whom the Sox have a good record of working with (Benintendi).

Here are some words from the man himself (not specific to the White Sox). Didn’t realize Boras was his agent.

No one must be offering him a long-term contract just like Murakami if a 3-year deal makes them a frontrunner.

The headline of the Yahoo Japan article translated to English… ”The Imai & Murakami tag team is a possibility! The White Sox, aiming to rebuild their team and acquire Tatsuya Imai, have suddenly emerged as a strong contender.”

Mike Tyson recently said that he “followed the script” in his match with Paul so I just assumed they were all completely fake.

A Robert + Leasure to the Mets trade could be interesting, but not for Luisangel Acuna.

Which probably means it is some combination of the Reds not wanting to give up that much talent and/or the Sox not wanting to eat $10 million, since they haven’t agreed to a deal yet.

Has that rumor been of whom Getz is looking to acquire or whom the Reds are offering?

Wittenmeyer won’t give up on this rumor.
