  1. The Sox currently have the smallest largest contract in the MLB. Call that what you want, but you shouldn’t be surprised when some Sox fans call it being cheap. We also have a direct quote from Getz regarding how Brooks Boyer was involved in talking up the marketing potential to get the Murakami signing to the finish line. I don’t believe that anyone said that Jerry was completely clueless to this marketing potential but we all remember his comments on Ohtani. Finally, if Murakami’s market was truly $150+ million as was initially estimated as opposed to signing for $34 million, do you honestly believe he would be a White Sox right now?
  2. Is that a triple negative?
  3. I was confused why some posters don’t think Boras can talk to the Japanese media and they can in turn report on what he said. Whether what Boras tells them is true or not, who knows?
  4. Yep, this is the problem. The Reds probably want a lot of Robert’s salary back and don’t want to give up much in the way of prospects.
  5. From Getz’s quote, it sure sounds like Boyer helped convince Jerry to pay for Murakami because the Japanese marketing money and future influence on Japanese players would be the additional return. At least Brooks finally did something positive recently rather than pissing off Sox fans. 🤣
  6. At least it’s a source other than Gordon Wittenmeyer.

  8. I believe you are combining the names of two separate but reliable sources. It was KatyPerrysBootyHole and wetbutt23. Butt yes, they were both legendary sources.
  9. The White Sox made news weeks ago that they were starting to scout Japan more extensively than ever before and just recently landed the top bat from Japan. Why wouldn’t it make sense to use the White Sox as leverage in trying to juice up a final contract for Imai? This is Boras we are talking about. He plays these games all the time.
  10. He was unwell. He needed a colonoscopy from all of those cheesy beefs blocking him up.
  11. The Sox had a live press conference for the signing of a player to a 2-year, $34 million dollar deal. They were likely playing to the Japanese market but just put it into perspective compared to when other teams do this for big signings.
  12. The fact that Imai’s agent is Boras is what makes me think this is all a sham. It is likely what @fathom said and simply an attempt to get other teams (Cubs?) to raise their final offer. And surprise, Murakami’s agent just happened to be Casey Close whom the Sox have a good record of working with (Benintendi).
  13. Here are some words from the man himself (not specific to the White Sox). Didn’t realize Boras was his agent.
  14. No one must be offering him a long-term contract just like Murakami if a 3-year deal makes them a frontrunner.
  15. The headline of the Yahoo Japan article translated to English… ”The Imai & Murakami tag team is a possibility! The White Sox, aiming to rebuild their team and acquire Tatsuya Imai, have suddenly emerged as a strong contender.”
  16. Mike Tyson recently said that he “followed the script” in his match with Paul so I just assumed they were all completely fake.
  17. A Robert + Leasure to the Mets trade could be interesting, but not for Luisangel Acuna.
  18. I normally get mad at grammar errors when people don’t use a period at the end of a sentence. 🤣😉
  19. Which probably means it is some combination of the Reds not wanting to give up that much talent and/or the Sox not wanting to eat $10 million, since they haven’t agreed to a deal yet.
  20. Has that rumor been of whom Getz is looking to acquire or whom the Reds are offering?
  21. NBC Sports is reporting otherwise, per a Yahoo Japan article. Since I can’t read the article, here is what they said: https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/baseball/player-news?playerNewsId=0000019b-6b62-d35e-a1bf-6fe25b5c0000 Here is what MLB Trade Rumors is saying: “Kazuma Okamoto Travels To U.S. For In-Person Meetings With Teams”
  22. Okamoto is in the US this week for final in-person meetings. He has meetings set up with the Blue Jays, Cubs, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Padres, Angels, and Pirates. No mention of the White Sox. https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/b15139f58e9e44f3d810871e2b180ac211726231
  23. Yep. I don’t see the Reds happening.
  24. Here’s the blurb from Wittenmeyer’s 12/27 article: ”The Bleday trade offers at least a platoon option and potential upside play for the Reds, who continue to look for reliable pop for the middle of the lineup (including staying in contact with the White Sox on a possible Robert trade).”
