They definitely have trade value. The problem is that the old strategy of tanking and selling off good players is no longer as strong as it once was. The changes to the draft have weakened tanking and teams are no longer willing to give up their top prospects for the top trade deadline targets. Chances are pretty high that the prospects we get back for Crochet and Fedde aren’t ever even as good as them.

We’ve said this before with both GM and managerial hires but Reinsdorf insists on meddling. That’s not going to change.

The Sox under Jerry have made the playoffs 5 times since 1995. It’s never going to be “easy” or “easier” for this team.

Getz completely failed at what he intended to improve in the offseason, which is evidence that his offseason was bad no matter what some people want to sugarcoat. At least it looks like we have three good starters now, although one or two of them will be traded by the deadline.

Except that there were also other moves that Getz made that you don’t have listed, including moves he made in a panic to keep some of the veteran bums that he acquired, only to DFA them later. I can’t see how anyone could say that Getz did a good job of roster management so far this year with a straight face.
