7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
Gotta love clueless Schriffen talking up 29 year old Nick Senzel as if he’s still early in his career and ready to bust out due to his talent.

Andrew Vaughn… stud first baseman.

I didn’t say that but you described Massey as if he was the size of Dominic Fletcher. He’s not that tiny.

7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
Yikes. Dude just does not look like he is ever going to hit, and it doesn’t look like his small stature helps his case at all…

Massey is 6 foot and 195. Local kid from Palos Park. Went to Brother Rice High School.

7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
He sure does. I wonder if he can box or wrestle?

7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
Why did the Sox release a stud like Maldonado and why hasn’t another team picked him up yet?

7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
That was a nasty pitch and was borderline. Could’ve been called a balls. Let’s see what he does going forward.

7/30 Sox vs. Royals 7:10PM
What redeeming qualities does he have? Poor defender, can’t hit for average, can’t get on base, doesn’t have power… He bats lefty and maybe he’s a good clubhouse guy?

Eloy to Baltimore
We would have to see the financials of the trade, but I would assume the Sox ended up dumping a little of Eloy’s remaining $13 million dollar salary for this year, and may have entirely avoided having to pay Eloy’s $3 million dollar buyout. Let’s be honest, there was no way the Sox were going to pay Eloy his $16.5 million dollar option for next season. Unless Eloy gets hotter than s%*#, the Orioles probably won’t either and will give him the $3 million dollar buyout.

Grade Getz’s 1st Trade Deadline!
Yep. Can’t trade their remaining assets (Crochet and Robert) for a haul because teams are no longer willing to deal their top prospects. And can’t tank for high draft picks as easily as in the past.
-
Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
I’d try another position unless you think there is a chance the Sox part ways with Benintendi early. Or would you put Benintendi at DH? I’m assuming he is going nowhere.

Grade Getz’s 1st Trade Deadline!
I would agree with your detailed breakdown.
-
Fire Chris Getz
Neither of us know that, for the Sox or the Marlins. But you can find several articles right that have the Sox as the loser of the trade deadline and the Marlins as winners.
-
Fire Chris Getz
Once again, no one walked away from the Marlins and they got a good return on their trade assets. They probably won the trade deadline as sellers. Meanwhile, everyone and their grandma knows that the Marlins are a lower payroll team that has to move their pricier contracts almost each and every year. So why didn’t your analogy apply to the Marlins, like it did with the Sox?

Grade Getz’s 1st Trade Deadline!
Fedde has been worth 4.7 bWAR thus far this season. Kopech and his 0.4 bWAR were attached to that trade as well, so the Sox gave up over 5 WAR in that deal. You actually were okay with the Fedde trade but are a bit disappointed that 0.2 bWAR DeJong didn’t net a better return?

Zero BA T100 prospects traded at the 2024 TDL
Agreed. But gal’s point remains. There may no longer be much of a path to selling top assets for prospects any longer. Teams aren’t willing to give them up. That, along with the draft changes… Welp, good luck Getz…

TA as catcher? Well, now we get C Chuck Robinson in CF and hitting third
Caulfield gets his Sox lineups from The Onion.
-
Crochet NOT TRADED
My guess is that the lowered attendance is impacting Reinsdorf’s bottom line of revenue, but that they still aren’t losing money. Jerry is going to have Getz cut the payroll to $100 million next offseason to account for these losses in revenue, but they will still be in the green overall.

China is trying to play games with your mind. You are their test subject.

TA as catcher? Well, now we get C Chuck Robinson in CF and hitting third
I see Robert batting third and playing CF. Lee is starting at catcher. Robinson is on the bench.

What lineups are you looking at? Robinson isn’t even starting tonight. Lee is and Robert is batting third and playing CF.

Same post I made. Makes zero sense.

Eloy to Baltimore
I was doing that as well. I seem to remember Hahn burning $33 million or so on garbage during the failed Machado offseason.
