  1. Translated: Flexen is now the long man and spot starter at best because he’s been so horrible.
  2. Excellent post. Just made this same point in another thread. Getz’s plan of wasting money on garbage veterans was never about giving the young guys enough time to marinate in the minors. Getz only cared about waiting a few weeks to gain the extra year of control on the young guys.
  3. $1.75 million isn’t that much in the MLB but jeez, Getz should be embarrassed he gave Flexen that much for 3 starts. His awful overall numbers weren’t enough to convince Getz that he sucked? At this point, it’s pretty obvious that Getz’s plan was to call up the youngsters once the extra year of control was locked in, and it had much less to do with waiting until the young guys got enough minor league work in to truly be ready for the majors.
  4. Because he’s an idiot. He wants the media and fans to think he’s taking care of this epic losing situation while pretending he isn’t the one who told us.
  5. You don’t risk injury to your one and only good starter by extending him more innings just because your other starters can’t get through the 5th inning. You throw the shitbird relievers out there instead and you sign or call up more garbage pitchers (i.e. Keller) to continue to eat the innings. The Sox have the worst record in baseball so maintaining Crochet’s arm is far more important than winning games.
  6. Well, this is true but until the rules change teams aren’t going to stop doing it.
  7. The front office already knows. Did the Sox have an offseason that you would expect of a team trying to win? Most posters panned the acquisitions of DeJong, Lopez, Flexen, etc. and they have been right so far. These guys will be DFA candidates soon, if they aren’t already. I know you were optimistic about the rotation but Soroka is terrible as well and only Crochet and Fedde have panned out so far. Like I told you weeks ago, none of these guys have had consistent success in the majors, some have been ruined by injuries, and some have aged out so I’m not sure why you thought they would exceed expectations. It doesn’t take a crystal ball to predict that bad players will be bad.
  8. Brad Keller will be another failure. He’s terrible. Clevinger will likely last in rotation as long as he doesn’t get injured.
  9. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/tommy-pham-white-sox-deal
  10. Agreed, but wasn’t it pretty much the no brainer decision?
  11. Maybe, or Tommy Pham is Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack saving Rose (Sox) by letting her stay on the board as he freezes in the water.
  12. Nice, haha. Basically, don’t be surprised if you see Pham starting in CF. His baseball card says he played games in CF so he can still do it in the Sox eyes.
  13. It doesn’t matter either way. It’s rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic. What is the value in not being historically bad? Hopefully, JR is embarrassed even worse by this season as he commented on last season, but I doubt it forces him to do anything out of the ordinary. It’s pretty obvious that Grifol will be the “fall guy” for this awful season.
  14. Since when did being able to play a position defensively ever matter to the Sox? Corpse of Griffey Jr. in CF Mackowiak in CF Vaughn in RF Sheets in RF You could go on and on and I’m sure I am missing plenty more.
  15. Of course he is. He’s old (36) like the rest of Getz’s acquisitions and no one else wanted him, also like Getz’s acquisitions. Further proof that Bob Nightengale is JR’s lap dog.
  16. First right move the guy has made.
  17. Meanwhile, the other team in town picks up a 1B who the Dodgers had no room for and he is absolutely tearing it up.
  18. This is some amazing pitching that Getz assembled.
  19. Big fan of Soroka and Lopez?
  20. Your Cubs fan obsession is disturbing and ridiculous. Cubs fans aren’t the reason this White Sox team is historically bad. Jerry Reinsdorf is the reason. At least place your hate on the correct target. This franchise is already diminished due to its owner and is the laughingstock of baseball.
  21. Getz thought he hoodwinked the Braves. Meanwhile, they just sent him a bunch of bums that they were planning on non-tendering.
  22. Never bet on the Sox, other than for them to lose.
  23. Getz couldn’t cut him for Popeye, but he can now cut numerous guys that don’t matter for nothing. Getz has been the absolutely worst roster manager of all time.
