  1. Sounds like they will platoon Slater with Dominguez in LF. Dominguez hasn’t hit lefties at all this season.
  2. Most people wanted Getz to sign the other Austin in the offseason, and they were right.
  3. How about you have him in the lineup like he is now and scratch him right before the game to both prevent him from any potentially injury and bluff interested teams into thinking a deal is close? It probably doesn’t work with another whole day before the deadline but at least he can’t get hurt. The risk of playing him in even one game before the deadline is too high. And I don’t think retaining Robert and picking up his option is even in the Sox mind. That’s all a BS bluff.
  4. I assume “Danger” Will Robertson replaces Slater on the roster?
  5. I’m not buying that he isn’t scratched. And if he isn’t, Getz is nuts.
  6. Yep, sounds like a back end rotation starter at best. Better than a 26 year old bullpen arm.
  7. So you just make the effort to complain about the complainers preemptively?
  8. The only question is how many balls are in the bag.
  9. I posted this stat earlier. Small sample size with the Brewers but that walk to strikeout rate is so drastically different that you have to question if the dude was just flailing at pitches with the Sox cuz he just didn’t give a damn.
  10. Sanity prevails. Getz isn’t a complete doofus. Next will be Robert on the bench.
  11. Robert already showed he was healthy enough by starting in CF last night and having a decent night at the plate with a hit and a walk. If there is any player in the MLB that would get injured in his last game before the trade deadline and f*** over this team worse than he has already done with his two poor seasons in a row, it would be Robert. I see no reason to risk it.
  12. Agreed. I think you sit him due to the injury risk and the fact that whatever team acquires him can immediately start him instead of having to wait for his next turn in the rotation.
  13. Good point. Still a very small sample size but Vaughn had only 7 walks and 43 strikeouts in 193 plate appearances with the Sox this year. He now already has 7 walks and only 7 strikeouts in only 57 plate appearances with the Brewers. Once again, still a very small sample size but WTH was the guy doing at the plate for the Sox? Swinging at everything because he didn’t give a s%*#?
  14. Of course. Is one game or one start really going to change the minds of teams interested in Robert and Houser at this point, to be worth more than the risk of them getting injured? No way. Will be interesting to see if Hauser gets scratched and Robert is out of the lineup. I wouldn’t be surprised.
  15. Sure does. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/andrew-benintendi-white-sox-deal.html Perhaps we should be somewhat happy that Jerry always refused to sign any player to a massive 10+ year deal. Of course the one time everyone wanted to do it was with Harper and that one would have been worth it.
  16. Yes, Hulk did raise a moronic man child in Nick that probably still thinks he did nothing wrong in his life. In 2007, the guy put his best friend into a paralyzed vegetative state from drunk and reckless driving while drag racing. Hulk actually blamed the best friend/victim in recorded calls to his son Nick while he was in jail. In 2023, Nick got busted for a DUI so what do you do after that? Surely the wise move is to take your son on tour to bars, clubs, and restaurants around the country in order to shill your Real American Beer. Perhaps that wasn’t the wisest of decisions when your son obviously has a problem with drinking. That was just a totally awful decision and look. https://youtu.be/829CE9nmYAA?si=MIcE0Enl0gXnxeiM
  17. I don’t know anything about either guy, but it looks like Chace walks the world and would be the last thing we need. Getz has acquired enough pitchers like that already, so unless the Sox think they can fix his control with a tweak rather easily…
  18. Yes, I don’t think it will happen — eating Robert’s entire remaining salary. Just hypothesizing.
  19. Yep, the risk of injury would make starting Houser tomorrow a very stupid decision. Also, with skipping his start tomorrow, whatever team that acquires Houser will be able to start him almost immediately makes it a no brainer decision.
  20. Yep. The problem with the Phillies is that the prospect we would really want from them (Crawford) is likely too big of an ask for Robert + Wilson/Altavilla, even if we eat most of Robert’s salary. The scary thing about this Acuna rumor is that the Mets have better options for the Sox that aren’t rated too highly to be unrealistic targets in Clifford, Ewing, and Gilbert. This just feels like the Mets are trying to push Acuna on the Sox because they know he’s no damn good and are trying to deal him for what they need while he still has value.
  21. Oh, sorry, I meant the Sox. Assuming the Sox interest is in Acuna, I could see them converting him to CF.
