  3. Konerko is the most obvious dead weight. He doesn't even play!
  4. do baseball players have to sit still and be quiet for extended periods of time?
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) I do know when the Sox last lost 96 or 97 games, they won 90 the next year with the Southside Hitmen. This team seems to be in a better financial position to land some talent. Obviously they are going to need some breaks and some guys to really step up. If they could bring in two hitters the caliber of Zisk and Gamble, I'd be all for it. Note that they were terrible again the next three years.
  6. What does history say about 99 loss teams? what do they do on average the following year? what's a reasonable expectation? Any of them ever make the playoffs? I don't know how to answer those, but I have some hunches as to what the answers might be.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) Bob Nightengale, who really is one of the better ones with White Sox info, says the Cardinals are still very interested in Peavy. Everything is BS at this point, but •There are no current discussions between the Cardinals and White Sox on Peavy, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
  8. So pretty much every team says they are "out" on Peavy. Probably doesn't mean anything, but interesting....Hahn must be being a real pain in the ass.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) The same people complaining about the lack of deals will be the ones leading the complaints about the returns. I swear to God I won't complain about anything they get for Alex Rios.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Take a look at the actual numbers, there's $30 million or so coming off the books as it is, and another $25 million in the national TV deal. I know they won't spend all $55 million of that since the attendance has gone down, but even if people aren't moved, there's got to be $25 million or more to spend if they choose to. So all the teams will be flush with money and the FA market is terrible. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
  11. Time is running out to clean house.....
  12. Randazzo wants a major league gig and would not risk pissing anyone off.
  13. i met fisk at his daughter's volleyball game one time. nice as could be. we spent about five minutes talking about baseball.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:35 AM) Is he related to Steve Trout, the former Cubs reliever? Trout spend five years with the Sox!
  15. If this stuff is for losers, why is KC in first place?
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) To me he's a hall of famer. The guy was easily one of the best two to ever play the position for a long period of time and that makes you a hall of famer, imo. Plus offensively he had some pretty productive years in Cleveland. please don't dismiss the first 100 years of baseball. there were many great defensive shortstops. what are your opinions on marty marion, mark belanger, honus wagner?
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) Considering KW offered Magglio a contract extension, if he agreed and knew, then he's just as guilty. Maggs was about 25 lbs. lighter his first year with the Tigers vs. his last with the White Sox. of course he knew. GMs know what's going on.
  18. his reputation is now ruined, just like mcgwire, sosa, bonds, palmeiro, clemens.
  19. here's an old pic of thome http://badwax.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/...l-jim-thome.jpg
  20. since when do doctors give out silly supplements with questionable effects?
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ May 7, 2009 -> 07:16 AM) I don't get it. Is there a reason he would be positive now rather than in previous seasons? If he's going to take something, why would he take something on the banned list? maybe the test got better.
  22. lets move beckham to cf while we're at it.
