Blue Jays prospect, who lives out of his van
LDF replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
what a great article, i now wish for a sec he was with the sox systems. a carefree kind of a person. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) In a weird way, Thib's system's maximizes the value of most any players on the floor. No matter who he puts out there, they can win games. In some other weird way, this team is better when playing as underdogs with its back against the wall. When they had as much talent as they did a month ago and were expected to win games, they were embarrassed big time. It's weird, but that's how I feel about Thib's teams. i was somewhat thinking that while catching up today. is it me, but does this team preform better when the superstars are not playing???

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) One thing that I'm kinda disappointed about is the lack of turnover in the FO, when Hahn was promoted to GM, I expected him to bring in some new blood along with him to help run the operation. Maybe the promotion of Haber is a sign of things to come. kind of depends on the philosophy that is in place and whether a new one will take over. if it is adding to and not turning over the apple cart so to speak, this is what you get. i too would have like to see some new blood in maybe in the org for running the minors and scouting. new blood, aggressive ideas. the sox ownership believes in loyalty. Haber deserved his promotions.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 04:57 AM) I have no hate for him. It's not that he failed, it's that he's still here taking at-bats I wish him the best, and I mean it. But I'm definitely tired of Hawk giving him an audio BJ to distract me from his latest 0 for 4. taking at bats from whom?? whose fault will that be, meaning a real thin prospect pool?? with the owners not wanting to spend money they have, who would you have picked to be a backup??

Big Daddy Steve, congrats.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) If you are being serious I really doubt that they will be jealous of the Cell. For one, many of the Cubs fans have already been to the Cell. Two, most Cub fans you talk to wouldnt trade their park for any other park in major league baseball. They realize it needs to be updated and renovated but they arent going to be envious of the Cell. That's laughable. oops i think i should have put my response in green, i didn't think anyone would think it was a serious response. my bad

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) Because they know even without bleachers for 2 months, they still would draw more at Wrigley than in Milwaukee, and wouldn't alienate their fanbase, like playing 90 miles away for a season might. JR would not let it happen. I think that tells you right there it wouldn't have been the coup you think it would be. beside the sox ownership group and the FO, the northsiders couldn't afford to let their fans come to the cell. those fans will see how a real team looks like and the park and all the positives that they were missing.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) Supposedly they didn't even check into using USCF. Their "research" told them Cub fans wanted nothing to do with USCF. I think in the past, JR has pretty much made it clear the Cubs weren't welcome anyway. From what I have read, the terms of his lease would give him the ultimate authority in letting the Cubs play there. ok, very informative. i was thinking from a money aspect and stealing more fans from the sCrubs. i would have love to see them hike all the way to Milwaukee.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) Travolta can come of the closet... I won't hate him because he is gay, I will hate him for putting me through things like Grease and Saturday Night Fever. ahh i hated him for putting me thru battlefield earth and swordfish. those were date night movies for me and it was a miserable night. i wasn't sure if it was my date or the movie that killed it. however basic is a great movie.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) I know park factors probably had something to do with it, but Gillaspie and his 7 homers, out OPS'd Panda last season. Owing Panda $100 million would be pretty scary to me. I know he has played well fat, but how long does that continue? The Giants always were on him about his weight. There has to be a reason. I don't think he will age well. let alone any illness that might occur due to poor unhealthy lifestyle.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) I disagree. It wasn't a leading role, but audiences (including fans of the mega-popular book) seemed to certainly accept NPH playing the key part of a hetero creep in "Gone Girl," just as TV audiences accepted him playing straight in HIMYM. If its a disqualifier, its only for a small segment of roles (romantic comedies, etc.) that Travolta no longer fits anyway. that is not the point, while i do understand what you are saying, in today's society, "the don't ask, don't tell," rule still applies. there are some great actors and actress that believes that there is still perception of not like or accepting gays in today's society. even thou it as come a long way. there are many examples i can use, but it will take forever. i am part of a Louisiana, mardi gras krewe which is the 2nd most popular krewe in LA and 1/2 are gay, yet they consider it the gay krewe. btw, for a disclaimer sake i am not gay, but hanging around them is no different than anyone else. the stupid prejudices is just as bad as racial. going about actors, esp Travolta, whatever his real life style is, and all the other actors and actress, it doesn't affect their ability to act. so who cares. this is almost like the color barrier of sports. btw, why can't Travolta play a romantic role????

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) Yes, but it was March 3. There are a lot of guys who look like stars the first couple of weeks of spring training that wind up being bad, and vice versa. Especially this early, a lot depends on how much you did in the offseason. Others who didn't hit as much or throw as much eventually catch up. I like Micah Johnson and hope he winds up starting at 2B. But whether he went 0-4 with 4 k's or 4-4 with 3 steals on March 3rd, it wouldn't change my opinion. The guys that played some winter ball are probably a little ahead right now. Watching these games now are great for entertainment purposes. It's been a while since we have seen them on the field. But making any evaluation at this point is crazy. while i respect what you are saying, its is only a couple of days of spring training, fans are just excited about baseball, sox baseball, and the prospects.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) I want Micah starting. Sanchez just doesn't do it for me. Micah has good upside. Let him play. Hope he does well and wins the job. not necessary winning the job, but more like an example of encouragement of, you are close, you need to work on these items to improve. its a win win situation

QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) That poll is only for the teams that spent a total of $60MM to $70MM on free agents this offseason. The White Sox spent well over that which is why they are not mentioned. while you may be correct, which i didn't know, they should have done the poll on teams who spent over 60 mil. i think it is a stupid poll, next the new poll will be those teams who spent less than 1 million.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 03:28 AM) I don't think Soldier Field could house a baseball diamond without a serious overhaul thanks, i didn't know that. so it go down to the cell.

totally unrelated the northsiders really considered moving their home game to Milwaukee b/c of the repairs. well here is the link. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/articles/cub...kee-344576.html wouldn't it be better doing it in the south side, soldier's field???

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 01:05 AM) I thought that Tyler Danish did pretty solid, he bounced back after the two walks to get a nice double play but isn't that like his SOP. gets in a little trouble every once in a while and pitches himself out of the jam without little of no damaging effect. i may be wrong here. but i am stoke for him. So Garcia look really good with the bat today, and by what i was reading, it appears as the sox runners were taking that other base when they had the chance. niccceeeee i love it.

QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:13 PM) I don't see how they could see the software on your PC w/o you accessing the Internet with it. With that said, get yourself a VPN. They won't know what you're doing. but with that, they will just need to analyze the vpn traffic and banned it.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) bolded... if you read the article, he tells you flat out that cricket is far and away the dominant bat game. yes i read the article hence my question. maybe not the best way it could have be written, but my point is, are the fans saying they are like baseball better than cricket?? another question i really wanted to ask but i want to keep my inquiry on the G rated. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) LDF - You need to cite quoted pieces. Link to the article would suffice, since you are just taking exerpts. But you need to source it in some way. shiit i am sorry,i forgot. i will do that later and edit my post. i have to go to work.
