One of the worst Sox losses I've ever witnessed
LDF replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) What if Sale wanted to stay in though? Sale has done everything the Sox have asked him to do when they agreed to leave him in the rotation in terms of being honest about his physical condition. He's earned the right in my view to have a big say as to when he should be left in the game. many pitchers want to stay in. with ref to sale wanting to stay, who is the manager? -
One of the worst Sox losses I've ever witnessed

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) I grew up for decades watching the Sox lose to the Angles. My dad and I seriously went to almost every white sox game in Anaheim for a twelve year stretch. It was a rarity that the Sox won. That all changed in 2005 and we'll have our time again. This was a hard loss and it can be second guessed thousands of times over... But in the end - it was what it was and my choice was to stand up, tip my cap to the other team, and know that tomorrow is another day. Game over. Go get em tomorrow with your heads held high and use this as motivation to become better. That's the only acceptable outlook in my eyes. Couldn't have said it any better, however I am beginning to wonder. is this a picture perfect with a definition of gamesmanship. sox were up and la found a way to win, or was it help by a lack of managerial skills at best. I have been a big Robin V fan, but even I could see that maybe it was time to bring in the relief, imho sale should not have started the 8th inning. but hey, what do the hades do I know. keeping an eye and managing according to some playbook based on running stats like what was the pitch count, score, gut feeling. I don't know, maybe Robin doesn't have the skill to see and develop strategies on the fly...... or maybe this was a hard fought game, the games that you wish your team won and talked about as a youngster growing up. tomorrow is another day. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 04:49 AM) Mechanics out of whack? It's usually injuries but if they haven't shut him down by now, I would doubt it. The only thing I can think of is an injury similar to Danks where the shoulder is loose. Maybe they are seeing if he can pitch with it. I am not a doctor nor do I have any medical knowledge so here is my question, does anybody know if a shoulder was over used, maybe it is worn out, needing rest?

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Aside from tools, the first thing you look for in a defender is reactions, which are instinctual. Avi's reactions are very poor. This is also why judging defense with stats is so tough. Reactions and instincts aren't really tangible. The one commonality that Avi has with others in his shoes are, the ability to be a ball player. Many times I see and hear how 1 prospects are moved around so they, the club could get the players talent in the game. maybe sacrificing some defense in returned. I remember a post just today of what to do with the glut of infielder prospects we have, again putting or shifting 1 to the outfield. has anyone thought this is how maybe Avi came about.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:08 AM) Just read three mock drafts that had Adams at #22, #31 and #34 I agree, I thought no later than 30.... I bet some teams forgot about him being there. players who were rated lower than adam was getting drafted. great pick. plain and simple. -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:03 AM) '13 & '14 Sox drafts should prove to be damn good. I never thought Adams would be there in the 2 round ..... I like it.... how is he compare to sean foley? -

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:51 AM) Cubs believe the opposite for whatever reason. I agree with you. A J Reed and Cat Chase Vallot are off the board..... dang... -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:34 AM) Yeah I'm a lot more concerned when he signs than how much he signs for. We could go around Boras. Tell him directly you can be in the majors this year, if you sign now. Boras won't like that very much. there had to have been a pre-draft conversation between the sox and rodon's camp. I wonder what was discussed.

This is going to be a busy weekend for the sox brass. First is the draft, then go and see this new Cuban kid and / or get info on him to judge him. here is a question, did he just escape or did he already and teams are trying to see him before July 2?

Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
LDF replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
The one thing everyone is forgetting is, what are the plans in the rebuilding for next yr and are we going to venture into the FA market..... only JR, Hahn, and to a degree KW knows that answer. With that answer, you will then know how the Sox will draft at #3 tonite. However don't let this stop the great exchange on info..... I learned at lot esp in the aspect of pitching and the development of their stuff. with that, Nola at #3 for the savings. I wish would be Kolek would be picked. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:15 AM) Got ya. With ya still. Totally f***ing lost now. now this is the classic hi8is

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 03:50 AM) enough to be a top 5 prospect? either way, it nice to reward his hard work. lets see how the rest of the yr plays out.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:13 AM) Pretty cool Carlos Sanchez fact I just figured out: 3 HRs in first 1889 MiLB at-bats, across 1456 days 3 HRs in last 58 MiLB at-bats, across 10 days I am happy as everyone is about his success, but the power # in 58 at-bats???? ummmm

Ok, as I see it, everybody had at sometime mentioned and talked about who they wanted and this thread provided constant updates. now for your pick as you see the sox doing for the 1st round. I say the sox will pick #1 Aaron Nola He, like Rodon, is close to the majors and savings of some slot money. With him, hopefully a rebound Erik Johnson and maybe a fa pitcher. a making of a good pen.
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Any interesting college arms throwing today? Wish I watched Nola's start yesterday. Caught a little of Weavers. how did they, both pitcher performed?? any recap? many thanks

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 31, 2014 -> 07:47 PM) The Cubs don't need Beckham though. My guess is STL. Within the next week here I think Baez will start playing 2B and be up sometime by July. They also have Alcantara. Beckham to the Cubs would make zero sense to me. I would love stl and A. Craig as the player. Craig is a 1b and you can play Jose and Craig as your DH and 1b. Craig make good contact / avg, and does have some power. he is young and good salary.

the sox fan will not wait too many yrs for the rebuilding to get done. getting Jose A may be a liking pulling the rabbit out of the hat..... we got very lucky and the attitude as a whole has change with him. I like the idea thinking and / or debating on whether we should look into trading Jose Q, let me mention why I would not be for that. Someof which has mention before. 1. the net return of what we think Q is worth will not be the same value the other team thinks his value is. 2. the prospects will take yrs to develop if the trade is done. 3. the window of opportunity is now, imagining we keep the team as is, without the benefit of trades, we have: sp – #1 sale #2 Q #3 ?? #4 danks #5 ?? field – 1b – Jose A 2b – Gordon ss - Alexie 3b – Conor rf – Avi cf – Adam lf – Dayan cat – Flowers DH - ?? if we draft a ready to start pitcher in the draft, he may be able to slid into #5 in the rotation, we go out and pick a FA sp for #3 and possible a dh. We can compete next yr. It is not a pipe dream, but then again 2 majors if's. Ummm btw... I wonder what they mean by pipe dream.... smoking what???

QUOTE (hi8is @ May 29, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) While most of this is enlightened, in this posters humbled opinion... Attendance should negate more moves than one. Follow my signature leads to more insight for my perspective. hello my friend, while it is great to read great comments from other sox fans, the 1 thing I notice this rebuilding yr is no sense of urgency from the front office. is it possible b/c the fans realize as well that some hard time if coming. imho acquiring the great talent of Jose A is softening the rebuilding. this yr the sox front office has said rebuild ..... the window of opportunity is now for some trades to happen. if we can find the right trading partner. do you, the fans think that nothing is going to be done until the draft? here is a question I need help with the answer, if we traded more players and by default, we scale back on the salary, are we going to get our hands slap by the baseball front office??? I taking about how over the weekend the sCrubs were mention and how the commish is looking at them. so does that mean we too should be looked at as well???

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) I was being sarcastic about Ubaldo, but when the team is rebuilding or retooling, they need to take chances on stuff guys. You do that and you occasionally end up with Rick White or Mike Jackson, or you sometimes get a Cliff Politte or Tom Gordon or JJ Putz or Esteban Loaiza. In the end, if you lose it, you lose it and you move on. it was a good gamble that failed, and it was expensive. but ...... what happened if it worked? 1 thing I noticed is with the cupboard is bare, all this minor little gambles will look huge. with ref to his visit to the dl ... I remember a player, I believe we got in return for the kip wells trade lost something like 10+ games and he mysterious went to the dl as well. to save him the embarrassment of losing more.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 27, 2014 -> 03:38 AM) http://www.sportsrumoralert.com/2014/05/ml...er#.U4QIldq9KSM It was Daniel Carbonell my mistake, I meant to write that there is another outfielder that I am high on.

QUOTE (CyAcosta41 @ May 27, 2014 -> 01:01 AM) do what the Cubs are rumored to be doing -- grabbing the Pentecost (sp?) catcher kid underslot, but if you do that, I'm sure this org would prefer to go the underslot route from a pitching perspective. lets for this discussion say that the sox are looking to under slot, beside outside the top 3 pitchers, who could be available and are they the best pick to make?? pitcher vs position player
-
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 27, 2014 -> 12:30 AM) to me that isnt the biggest problem, the slot money, its the future money if he pans out. its the year to year arb and hitting free agency. no quintana/sale type deals is what i mean what you said may be true, however to get to those arb yrs, first they will need to sign for the slot money and not having their so-called advisors asking for more money. there are more players drafted that need to be signed. if they achieved success, then let it be fought on another level at another time.
-
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 26, 2014 -> 10:08 PM) They're in on an outfielder I thought. Don't remember name or link. Alfredo Despaigne, either 27 28, outfielder, Cuban playing in Mexico waiting to play in the mlb. unbelievable power.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 26, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) Dick Allen ... they will always find some reason to hate on Beckham. They never let the facts get in the way of that hate. Personally I hope our DP combo of Alexei and Gordon stay together for several more years I don't know about anybody else, but my wanting to trade Gordon is not about hatred but getting needed players in return. stl - Adams and Craig are available, tor - has a farm systems of good prospect, bal - is the same with even better prospects. yanks - have some key prospects and catchers, I like Gordon, but we need help. I wouldn't mind seeing De Aza, L. Garcia , Viciedo and even the Danks brothers traded as well. We need prospects and we need help.
